1 P or tanto, imiten a Dios, como hijos amados.

Do as God would do. Much-loved children want to do as their fathers do.

2 V ivan en amor, como también Cristo nos amó y se entregó a sí mismo por nosotros, como ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios, de aroma fragante.

Live with love as Christ loved you. He gave Himself for us, a gift on the altar to God which was as a sweet smell to God.

3 E ntre ustedes ni siquiera deben hablar de inmoralidad sexual, ni de avaricia, ni de ninguna otra clase de depravación, pues ustedes son santos.

Do not let sex sins or anything sinful be even talked about among those who belong to Christ. Do not always want everything.

4 T ampoco digan obscenidades, ni tonterías ni palabras groseras. Eso no es conveniente. En vez de eso, den gracias a Dios.

Do not be guilty of telling bad stories and of foolish talk. These things are not for you to do. Instead, you are to give thanks for what God has done for you.

5 U stedes bien saben que ninguno que sea libertino, inmundo, o avaro (es decir, ningún idólatra), tendrá parte en el reino de Cristo y de Dios.

Be sure of this! No person who does sex sins or who is not pure will have any part in the holy nation of Christ and of God. The same is true for the person who always wants what other people have. This becomes a god to him.

6 Q ue nadie los engañe con palabras vanas, porque por estas cosas viene la ira de Dios sobre aquellos que no lo obedecen.

Do not let anyone lead you in the wrong way with foolish talk. The anger of God comes on such people because they choose to not obey Him.

7 P or tanto, no se junten con esa clase de gente.

Have nothing to do with them.

8 E n otro tiempo, ustedes eran oscuridad; pero ahora son luz en el Señor. Por tanto, vivan como hijos de luz

At one time you lived in darkness. Now you are living in the light that comes from the Lord. Live as children who have the light of the Lord in them.

9 ( porque el fruto del Espíritu se manifiesta en toda bondad, justicia y verdad),

This light gives us truth. It makes us right with God and makes us good.

10 y comprueben lo que es agradable al Señor.

Learn how to please the Lord.

11 N o tengan nada que ver con las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas; al contrario, denúncienlas.

Have nothing to do with the bad things done in darkness. Instead, show that these things are wrong.

12 ¡ Hasta vergüenza da hablar de lo que ellos hacen en secreto!

It is a shame even to talk about these things done in secret.

13 P ero cuando todas las cosas son expuestas a la luz, quedan de manifiesto; porque la luz lo manifiesta todo.

All things can be seen when they are in the light. Everything that can be seen is in the light.

14 P or eso dice: «Despiértate, tú que duermes. Levántate de entre los muertos, y te alumbrará Cristo.»

The Holy Writings say, “Wake up, you who are sleeping. Rise from the dead and Christ will give you light.” Be Filled With the Spirit of God

15 P or tanto, ¡cuidado con su manera de vivir! No vivan ya como necios, sino como sabios.

So be careful how you live. Live as men who are wise and not foolish.

16 A provechen bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos.

Make the best use of your time. These are sinful days.

17 N o sean, pues, insensatos; procuren entender cuál es la voluntad del Señor.

Do not be foolish. Understand what the Lord wants you to do.

18 N o se emborrachen con vino, lo cual lleva al desenfreno; más bien, llénense del Espíritu.

Do not get drunk with wine. That leads to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.

19 H ablen entre ustedes con salmos, himnos y cánticos espirituales; canten y alaben al Señor con el corazón,

Tell of your joy to each other by singing the Songs of David and church songs. Sing in your heart to the Lord.

20 y den siempre gracias por todo al Dios y Padre, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. La mutua sumisión

Always give thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. How Wives Must Live

21 C ultiven entre ustedes la mutua sumisión, en el temor de Dios.

Be willing to help and care for each other because of Christ. By doing this, you honor Christ.

22 U stedes, las casadas, honren a sus propios esposos, como honran al Señor;

Wives, obey your own husbands. In doing this, you obey the Lord.

23 p orque el esposo es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia, la cual es su cuerpo, y él es su Salvador.

For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. It is His body (the church) that He saves.

24 A sí como la iglesia honra a Cristo, así también las casadas deben honrar a sus esposos en todo.

As the church is to obey Christ, wives are to obey their own husbands in everything. How Husbands Must Live

25 E sposos, amen a sus esposas, así como Cristo amó a la iglesia, y se entregó a sí mismo por ella,

Husbands, love your wives. You must love them as Christ loved the church. He gave His life for it.

26 p ara santificarla. Él la purificó en el lavamiento del agua por la palabra,

Christ did this so He could set the church apart for Himself. He made it clean by the washing of water with the Word.

27 a fin de presentársela a sí mismo como una iglesia gloriosa, santa e intachable, sin mancha ni arruga ni nada semejante.

Christ did this so the church might stand before Him in shining-greatness. There is to be no sin of any kind in it. It is to be holy and without blame.

28 A sí también los esposos deben amar a sus esposas como a su propio cuerpo. El que ama a su esposa, se ama a sí mismo.

So men should love their wives as they love their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

29 N adie ha odiado jamás a su propio cuerpo, sino que lo sustenta y lo cuida, como lo hace Cristo con la iglesia,

No man hates himself. He takes care of his own body. That is the way Christ does. He cares for His body which is the church.

30 p orque somos miembros de su cuerpo, de su carne y de sus huesos.

We are all a part of His body, the church.

31 P or eso el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre, y se unirá a su mujer, y los dos serán un solo ser.

For this reason, a man must leave his father and mother when he gets married and be joined to his wife. The two become one.

32 G rande es este misterio; pero yo digo esto respecto de Cristo y de la iglesia.

This is hard to understand, but it shows that the church is the body of Christ.

33 P or lo demás, cada uno de ustedes ame también a su esposa como a sí mismo; y ustedes, las esposas, honren a sus esposos.

So every man must love his wife as he loves himself. Every wife must respect her husband.
