1 ¶ Así que sed imitadores de Dios como hijos amados;

Do as God would do. Much-loved children want to do as their fathers do.

2 y andad en caridad, como también el Cristo nos amó, y se entregó a sí mismo por nosotros por ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios en olor suave.

Live with love as Christ loved you. He gave Himself for us, a gift on the altar to God which was as a sweet smell to God.

3 ¶ Pero fornicación y toda inmundicia, o avaricia, ni aun se nombre entre vosotros, como conviene a los santos;

Do not let sex sins or anything sinful be even talked about among those who belong to Christ. Do not always want everything.

4 n i palabras deshonestas, ni necedades, ni truhanerías, que no convienen; sino antes bien acciones de gracias.

Do not be guilty of telling bad stories and of foolish talk. These things are not for you to do. Instead, you are to give thanks for what God has done for you.

5 P orque sabéis esto, que ningún fornicario, o inmundo, o avaro, que también es servidor de ídolos, tiene herencia en el Reino del Cristo, y de Dios.

Be sure of this! No person who does sex sins or who is not pure will have any part in the holy nation of Christ and of God. The same is true for the person who always wants what other people have. This becomes a god to him.

6 N adie os engañe con palabras vanas; porque por estas cosas viene la ira de Dios sobre los hijos de desobediencia.

Do not let anyone lead you in the wrong way with foolish talk. The anger of God comes on such people because they choose to not obey Him.

7 N o seáis pues compañeros con ellos;

Have nothing to do with them.

8 p orque en otro tiempo erais tinieblas; mas ahora sois luz en el Señor: andad como hijos de luz,

At one time you lived in darkness. Now you are living in the light that comes from the Lord. Live as children who have the light of the Lord in them.

9 ( porque el fruto del Espíritu es en toda bondad, y justicia, y verdad),

This light gives us truth. It makes us right with God and makes us good.

10 a probando lo que es agradable al Señor.

Learn how to please the Lord.

11 Y no tengáis comunión con las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas; sino antes bien impugnadlas.

Have nothing to do with the bad things done in darkness. Instead, show that these things are wrong.

12 P orque torpe cosa es aun hablar de lo que éstos hacen en oculto.

It is a shame even to talk about these things done in secret.

13 M as todas estas cosas cuando de la luz son impugnadas, son manifiestas; porque la luz es la que manifiesta todo.

All things can be seen when they are in the light. Everything that can be seen is in the light.

14 P or lo cual dice: Despiértate, tú que duermes, y levántate de los muertos, y te alumbrará el Cristo.

The Holy Writings say, “Wake up, you who are sleeping. Rise from the dead and Christ will give you light.” Be Filled With the Spirit of God

15 M irad, pues, cómo andéis avisa-damente; no como locos, sino como sabios;

So be careful how you live. Live as men who are wise and not foolish.

16 r edimiendo el tiempo, porque los días son malos.

Make the best use of your time. These are sinful days.

17 P or tanto, no seáis imprudentes, sino entendidos de cuál sea la voluntad del Señor.

Do not be foolish. Understand what the Lord wants you to do.

18 Y no os embriaguéis de vino, en lo cual hay disolución; mas sed llenos de Espíritu;

Do not get drunk with wine. That leads to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.

19 h ablando entre vosotros con salmos, y con himnos, y canciones espirituales, cantando y alabando al Señor en vuestros corazones;

Tell of your joy to each other by singing the Songs of David and church songs. Sing in your heart to the Lord.

20 d ando gracias siempre de todo al Dios y Padre en el Nombre del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo;

Always give thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. How Wives Must Live

21 ¶ sujetaos los unos a los otros en el temor de Dios.

Be willing to help and care for each other because of Christ. By doing this, you honor Christ.

22 L as casadas estén sujetas a sus propios maridos, como al Señor.

Wives, obey your own husbands. In doing this, you obey the Lord.

23 P orque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, así como el Cristo es cabeza de la Iglesia; y él es el que da la salud al cuerpo.

For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. It is His body (the church) that He saves.

24 A sí que, como la Iglesia está sujeta al Cristo, así también las casadas lo estén a sus maridos en todo.

As the church is to obey Christ, wives are to obey their own husbands in everything. How Husbands Must Live

25 M aridos, amad a vuestras mujeres, así como Cristo amó a la Iglesia, y se entregó a sí mismo por ella,

Husbands, love your wives. You must love them as Christ loved the church. He gave His life for it.

26 p ara santificarla limpiándola en el lavamiento del agua por la palabra,

Christ did this so He could set the church apart for Himself. He made it clean by the washing of water with the Word.

27 p ara presentársela gloriosa para sí mismo, una Iglesia que no tuviera mancha ni arruga, ni cosa semejante; sino que fuera santa y sin mancha.

Christ did this so the church might stand before Him in shining-greatness. There is to be no sin of any kind in it. It is to be holy and without blame.

28 A sí también los maridos deben amar a sus mujeres como a sus mismos cuerpos. El que ama a su mujer, a sí mismo se ama.

So men should love their wives as they love their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

29 P orque ninguno aborreció jamás a su propia carne, antes la sustenta y regala, como también el Señor a su Iglesia;

No man hates himself. He takes care of his own body. That is the way Christ does. He cares for His body which is the church.

30 p orque somos miembros de su cuerpo, de su carne y de sus huesos.

We are all a part of His body, the church.

31 P or esto dejará el hombre al padre y a la madre, y se unirá a su mujer, y serán dos en una carne.

For this reason, a man must leave his father and mother when he gets married and be joined to his wife. The two become one.

32 E ste misterio grande es; acerca de Cristo y la Iglesia.

This is hard to understand, but it shows that the church is the body of Christ.

33 A sí también haga cada uno de vosotros, cada uno ame a su mujer como a sí mismo; y la mujer que tenga en reverencia a su marido.

So every man must love his wife as he loves himself. Every wife must respect her husband.
