1 ¶ Y cuando David pasó un poco de la cumbre del monte, he aquí Siba, el criado de Mefi-boset, que lo salía a recibir con un par de asnos enalbardados, y sobre ellos doscientos panes, y cien hilos de pasas, y cien panes de higos secos, y un cuero de vino.

When David had gone a short way past the mountain top, Mephibosheth’s servant Ziba met him with two donkeys ready for traveling. On them were 200 loaves of bread, 100 vines of dried grapes, 100 summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.

2 Y dijo el rey a Siba: ¿Qué es esto? Y Siba respondió: Los asnos son para la familia del rey, en que suban; los panes y la pasa para que coman los criados, y el vino, para que beban los que se cansaren en el desierto.

The king said to Ziba, “Why do you have these?” And Ziba said, “The donkeys are for those of the king’s house to travel on. The bread and summer fruit are for the young men to eat. And the wine drink is for whoever is weak in the desert.”

3 Y dijo el rey: ¿Dónde está el hijo de tu señor? Y Siba respondió al rey: He aquí él se ha quedado en Jerusalén, porque ha dicho: Hoy me devolverá la casa de Israel el reino de mi padre.

Then the king said, “Where is your owner’s son?” And Ziba answered, “He is staying in Jerusalem. For he said, ‘Today the family of Israel will return to me the nation of my father.’”

4 E ntonces el rey dijo a Siba: He aquí, sea tuyo todo lo que tiene Mefi-boset. Y respondió Siba inclinándose: Rey señor mío, halle yo gracia delante de ti.

So the king said to Ziba, “See, all that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.” And Ziba said, “I bow down in honor to you. O my lord the king, let me find favor in your eyes!” David and Shimei

5 ¶ Y vino el rey David hasta Bahurim; y he aquí, salía uno de la familia de la casa de Saúl, el cual se llamaba Simei, hijo de Gera; y salía maldiciendo,

When King David came to Bahurim, there came out a man of the family of Saul. His name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He did not stop speaking bad things as he came.

6 y echando piedras contra David, y contra todos los siervos del rey David; y todo el pueblo, y todos los hombres valientes estaban a su diestra y a su siniestra.

He threw stones at David, and at all the servants of King David. And all the people and all the strong men were at his right and at his left.

7 Y decía Simei, maldiciéndole: Sal, sal, varón sanguinario, y hombre de Belial;

Shimei said as he said bad things, “Get out! Get out, you man of blood, you man of no worth!

8 e l SEÑOR te ha dado el pago de toda la sangre de la casa de Saúl, en lugar del cual tú has reinado; mas el SEÑOR ha entregado el reino en mano de tu hijo Absalón; y he aquí tú eres tomado en tu maldad, porque eres varón sanguinario.

The Lord has punished you for all the blood of the family of Saul, in whose place you have ruled! The Lord has given the nation to your son Absalom! Your trouble is upon you, because you are a man of blood!”

9 E ntonces Abisai hijo de Sarvia, dijo al rey: ¿Por qué maldice este perro muerto a mi señor el rey? Yo te ruego que me dejes pasar, y le quitaré la cabeza.

Zeruiah’s son Abishai said to the king, “Why should this dead dog speak against my lord the king? Let me go now and cut off his head.”

10 Y el rey respondió: ¿Qué tengo yo con vosotros, hijos de Sarvia? El maldice así, porque el SEÑOR le ha dicho que maldiga a David; ¿quién pues le dirá: Por qué lo haces así?

But the king said, “What have I to do with you, O sons of Zeruiah? If he speaks against me, and if the Lord has told him, ‘Speak against David,’ then who should say, ‘Why have you done so?’”

11 Y dijo David a Abisai y a todos sus siervos: He aquí, mi hijo que ha salido de mis entrañas, acecha mi vida; ¿cuánto más ahora un hijo de Jemini? Dejadle que maldiga, que el SEÑOR se lo ha dicho.

Then David said to Abishai and all his servants, “See, my own son wants to kill me. How much more now may this Benjamite? Let him alone and let him speak against me, for the Lord has told him.

12 P or ventura el SEÑOR mirará mi aflicción, y me dará el SEÑOR bien por sus maldiciones de hoy.

It may be that the Lord will look upon my trouble and return good to me instead of his bad words today.”

13 Y como David y los suyos iban por el camino, Simei iba por el lado del monte delante de él, andando y maldiciendo, y arrojando piedras delante de él, y esparciendo polvo.

So David and his men went on the way. And Shimei went beside him on the hill. He spoke against David as he went, and threw stones and dust at him.

14 Y el rey y todo el pueblo que con él estaba, llegaron fatigados, y descansaron allí.

The king and all the people with him were tired when they came to the Jordan. There he rested and received new strength. Absalom Goes to Jerusalem

15 ¶ Y Absalón y todo el pueblo, los varones de Israel, entraron en Jerusalén, y con él Ahitofel.

Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, came into Jerusalem. And Ahithophel was with him.

16 Y aconteció que cuando Husai, el arquita, compañero especial de David llegó a Absalón, le dijo Husai: ¡Viva el rey, viva el rey!

When David’s friend Hushai the Archite came to Absalom, Hushai said to him, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”

17 Y Absalón dijo a Husai: ¿Esta es tu misericordia para con tu amigo? ¿Por qué no fuiste con tu amigo?

And Absalom said to Hushai, “Is this your kindness to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”

18 Y Husai respondió a Absalón: No; antes al que eligiere el SEÑOR y este pueblo y todos los varones de Israel, de aquel seré yo, y con aquel me quedaré.

Hushai said to Absalom, “No! I will belong to whoever is chosen by the Lord, this people, and all the men of Israel.

19 ¿ Y a quién había yo de servir? ¿No es a su hijo? Como he servido delante de tu padre, así seré delante de ti.

And whom should I serve? Should I not serve his son? As I have served your father, so I will serve you.”

20 E ntonces dijo Absalón a Ahitofel: Dadnos consejo sobre qué haremos.

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give your wise words. What should we do?”

21 Y Ahitofel dijo a Absalón: Entra a las concubinas de tu padre, que él dejó para guardar la casa; y todo el pueblo de Israel oirá que te has hecho aborrecible a tu padre, y así se esforzarán las manos de todos los que están contigo.

Ahithophel answered, “Go in to your father’s women, whom he has left to take care of the house. Then all Israel will hear that you have made yourself hated by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be made stronger.”

22 E ntonces pusieron una tienda a Absalón sobre el terrado, y entró Absalón a las concubinas de su padre, en ojos de todo Israel.

So they set up a tent for Absalom on the roof. And Absalom went in to his father’s women so that the eyes of all Israel could see.

23 Y el consejo que daba Ahitofel en aquellos días, era como si consultaran la palabra de Dios. Tal era el consejo de Ahitofel, así con David como con Absalón.

The words that Ahithophel spoke in those days were as if one had asked for the Word of God. Both David and Absalom thought of Ahithophel’s words in this way.
