1 A lef: Yo soy un hombre que ve aflicción en la vara de su enojo.
I am the man who has been suffering because of the power of God’s anger.
2 A lef: Me guió y me llevó en tinieblas, mas no en luz.
He has led me and brought me into darkness and not into light.
3 A lef: Ciertamente contra mí volvió y revolvió su mano todo el día.
For sure He has turned His hand against me again and again all day long.
4 B et: Hizo envejecer mi carne y mi piel; quebrantó mis huesos.
He has made my flesh and my skin waste away. He has broken my bones.
5 B et: Edificó contra mí, y me cercó de tósigo y de trabajo.
He has shut me in with trouble and suffering.
6 B et: Me asentó en oscuridades, como los muertos para siempre.
He has made me live in dark places, like those who have been dead a long time.
7 G uímel: Me cercó de seto, y no saldré; agravó mis grillos.
He has put a wall around me so that I cannot go out. He has put heavy chains on me.
8 G uímel: Aun cuando clamé y di voces, cerró mi oración.
Even when I cry and call for help, he shuts out my prayer.
9 G uímel: Cercó de seto mis caminos a piedra tajada, torció mis senderos.
He has stopped me with blocks of stone. He has made my paths no longer straight.
10 D álet: Oso que acecha fue para mí, como león en escondrijos.
He is like a bear lying in wait, like a lion hiding in secret places.
11 D álet: Torció mis caminos, y me despedazó; me tornó asolado.
He has turned me from the path and torn me to pieces. He has destroyed me.
12 D álet: Su arco entesó, y me puso como blanco a la saeta.
He used His bow, and set me as a mark for His arrow.
13 H e: Hizo entrar en mis riñones las saetas de su aljaba.
He has taken out His arrows and sent them into my heart.
14 H e: Fui escarnio a todo mi pueblo, canción de ellos todos los días.
All my people laugh at me. They sing songs that make fun of me all day long.
15 H e: Me llenó de amarguras, me embriagó de ajenjo.
He has filled me with bitter feelings. He has made me drunk with wormwood.
16 V au: Me quebró los dientes con cascajo, me cubrió de ceniza.
He has broken my teeth with rocks, and has covered me with dust.
17 V au: Y mi alma se alejó de la paz, me olvidé del bien.
Peace has left my soul. I have forgotten what it is like to be happy.
18 V au: Y dije: Pereció mi fortaleza, y mi esperanza del SEÑOR.
So I say, “My strength is gone, and so has my hope from the Lord.”
19 Z ain: Acuérdate de mi aflicción y de mi lloro, del ajenjo y de la hiel.
Remember my trouble and my traveling from place to place, the wormwood and bitter feelings.
20 Z ain: Lo tendrá aún en memoria mi alma, porque en mí está humillada.
I remember it always, and my soul bows down within me.
21 Z ain: Esto reduciré a mi corazón, por tanto esperaré.
But this I remember, and so I have hope.
22 C het: Es por las misericordias del SEÑOR que no somos consumidos, porque nunca decayeron sus misericordias.
It is because of the Lord’s loving-kindness that we are not destroyed for His loving-pity never ends.
23 C het: Nuevas son cada mañana; grande es tu fe.
It is new every morning. He is so very faithful.
24 C het: Mi parte es el SEÑOR, dijo mi alma; por tanto a él esperaré.
“The Lord is my share.” says my soul, “so I have hope in Him.”
25 T et: Bueno es el SEÑOR a los que en él esperan, al alma que le buscare.
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the one who looks for Him.
26 T et: Bueno es esperar callando en la salvación del SEÑOR.
It is good that one should be quiet and wait for the saving power of the Lord.
27 T et: Bueno es al varón, si llevare el yugo desde su juventud.
It is good for a man to carry the load while he is young.
28 Y od: Se sentará solo, y callará, porque lo llevó sobre sí.
Let him sit alone and be quiet when God has laid the load on him.
29 Y od: Pondrá su boca en el polvo, si por ventura habrá esperanza.
Let him put his mouth in the dust. There may be hope yet.
30 Y od: Dará la mejilla al que le hiriere; se llenará de afrenta.
Let him give his face to the one who hits him, and be filled with shame.
31 C of: Porque el Señor no desechará para siempre;
For the Lord will not turn away from a man forever.
32 C of: Antes si afligiere, también se compadecerá según la multitud de sus misericordias.
For if He causes sorrow, He will have loving-pity because of His great loving-kindness.
33 C of: Porque no aflige ni acongoja de su corazón a los hijos de los hombres.
He does not want to cause trouble or sorrow for the children of men.
34 L ámed: Para desmenuzar debajo de sus pies todos los encarcelados de la tierra,
He is not pleased when all those on earth who are in prison are crushed under foot.
35 L ámed: Para hacer apartar el derecho del hombre ante la presencia del Altísimo,
The Most High is not pleased when the rights are kept away from a man who is before Him,
36 L ámed: Para trastornar al hombre en su causa, el Señor no lo sabe.
and when wrong is done to him in his cause. The Lord is not pleased with these things.
37 M em: ¿Quién será aquel que diga, que vino algo que el Señor no mandó?
Who has said that something would happen and then it did happen, unless the Lord has said that it should be?
38 M em: ¿De la boca del Altísimo no saldrá malo ni bueno?
Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both good and bad come?
39 M em: ¿Por qué tiene dolor el hombre viviente, el hombre en su pecado?
Why should any living man complain about the punishment of his sins?
40 N un: Escudriñemos nuestros caminos, y busquemos, y volvámonos al SEÑOR.
Let us test and look over our ways, and return to the Lord.
41 N un: Levantemos nuestros corazones con las manos a Dios en los cielos.
Let us lift up our heart and hands to God in heaven, saying,
42 N un: Nosotros nos hemos rebelado, y fuimos desleales; por tanto tú no perdonaste.
“We have sinned and would not obey You, and You have not forgiven us.
43 S ámec: Desplegaste la ira, y nos perseguiste; mataste, no perdonaste.
You have covered Yourself with anger and have followed us, killing without pity.
44 S ámec: Te cubriste de nube, para que no pasara la oración nuestra.
You have covered Yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can get through.
45 S ámec: Raedura y abominación nos tornaste en medio de los pueblos.
You have made us a waste and something that is not wanted among the nations.
46 P e: Todos nuestros enemigos abrieron sobre nosotros su boca.
All those who hate us have spoken against us.
47 P e: Temor y lazo fue para nosotros, asolamiento y quebrantamiento.
Fear and a trap have come upon us. We are laid waste and destroyed.
48 P e: Ríos de aguas echan mis ojos, por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo.
My eyes flow with rivers of tears because my people are destroyed.
49 A yin Mis ojos destilan, y no cesan, porque no hay alivio,
Tears flow from my eyes all the time without stopping,
50 A yin Hasta que el SEÑOR mire y vea desde los cielos.
until the Lord looks down from heaven and sees.
51 A yin Mis ojos contristaron mi alma, por todas las hijas de mi ciudad.
My eyes bring me suffering because of what is happening to all the women of my city.
52 T sade: Mis enemigos me dieron caza como a ave, sin razón.
I have been hunted like a bird by those who hate me for no reason.
53 T sade: Ataron mi vida en mazmorra, pusieron piedra sobre mí.
They threw me alive into the deep hole and have put a stone on me.
54 T sade Aguas de avenida vinieron sobre mi cabeza; yo dije: muerto soy.
Water flowed over my head, and I said, “I am cut off!”
55 C of: Invoqué tu nombre, oh SEÑOR, desde la cárcel profunda.
I called on Your name, O Lord, out of the deep hole.
56 C of: Oíste mi voz; no escondas tu oído a mi clamor, para mi respiro.
You have heard my voice. Do not close Your ears to my cry for help.
57 C of: Te acercaste el día que te invoqué; dijiste: No temas.
You came near when I called You, and You said, “Do not be afraid!”
58 R esh: Abogaste, Señor, la causa de mi alma; redimiste mi vida.
You have helped me in my cause, O Lord. You have saved my life.
59 R esh: Tú has visto, oh SEÑOR, mi sinrazón; pleitea mi causa.
O Lord, You have seen the wrong done to me. Judge in my favor.
60 R esh: Tú has visto toda su venganza; todos sus pensamientos contra mí.
You have seen how much they hate me and plan against me.
61 S in: Tú has oído la afrenta de ellos, oh SEÑOR, todas sus maquinaciones contra mí;
O Lord, You have heard how they put me to shame and how they work against me.
62 S in: Los dichos de los que se levantaron contra mí, y su designio contra mí todo el día.
The lips and thoughts of those who hurt me are against me all day long.
63 S in: Su sentarse, y su levantarse mira; yo soy su canción.
Watch their sitting down and standing up. I am their song as they make fun of me.
64 T au: Dales el pago, oh SEÑOR, según la obra de sus manos.
O Lord, You will punish them for what they have done.
65 T au: Dales ansia de corazón, tu maldición a ellos.
You will give them hard hearts, and curse them.
66 T au: Persíguelos en tu furor, y quebrántalos de debajo de los cielos, oh SEÑOR.
Go after them in anger and destroy them from under Your heavens, O Lord.
