1 E n el principio del reinado de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, vino del SEÑOR esta palabra a Jeremías, diciendo:

In the beginning of the rule of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord.

2 E l SEÑOR me dijo así: Hazte coyundas y yugos, y ponlos sobre tu cuello;

The Lord said to me, “Make ropes and a cross-bar for carrying a load, and put them on your neck.

3 y los enviarás al rey de Edom, y al rey de Moab, y al rey de los hijos de Amón, y al rey de Tiro, y al rey de Sidón, por mano de los embajadores que vienen a Jerusalén a Sedequías, rey de Judá.

Then send word to the king of Edom, to the king of Moab, to the king of the sons of Ammon, to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon. Send them with the men who bring news to Jerusalem to King Zedekiah of Judah.

4 Y les mandarás que digan a sus señores: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Así diréis a vuestros señores:

Tell them to go to their leaders, saying, ‘This is what the Lord of All, the God of Israel, says, and this is what you should say to your leaders:

5 Y o hice la tierra, el hombre y las bestias que están sobre la faz de la tierra, con mi gran potencia y con mi brazo extendido, y la di a quien fue recto a mis ojos.

“I have made the earth, and the men and the animals that are on it by My great power and by My long arm. And I will give it to the one who is right in My eyes.

6 Y ahora yo he dado todas estas tierras en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, mi siervo, y aun las bestias del campo le he dado para que le sirvan.

Now I have given all these lands to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant. And I have given him the wild animals of the field to serve him.

7 Y todos los gentiles le servirán a él, y a su hijo, y al hijo de su hijo, hasta que venga también el tiempo de su misma tierra; y le servirán muchas naciones y reyes grandes.

All the nations will serve him and his son and his grandson, until the time for his land comes. Then many nations and great kings will make him their servant.

8 Y será, que la gente y el reino que no sirviere a Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y que no pusiere su cuello debajo del yugo del rey de Babilonia, con espada y con hambre y con pestilencia visitaré a tal gente, dice el SEÑOR, hasta que yo los acabe de poner a todos bajo su mano.

But if any nation will not serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and will not put its neck under the load of the king of Babylon, I will punish that nation with the sword, hunger, and disease,” says the Lord, “until I have destroyed it by his hand.

9 Y vosotros no prestéis oído a vuestros profetas, ni a vuestros adivinos, ni a vuestros sueños, ni a vuestros agoreros, ni a vuestros encantadores, que os hablan diciendo: No serviréis al rey de Babilonia.

So do not listen to your men who tell of their special dreams, your men who tell what is going to happen in the future, or your wonder workers who use their secret ways. They say to you, ‘You must not serve the king of Babylon.’

10 P orque ellos os profetizan mentira, para haceros alejar de vuestra tierra, y para que yo os arroje y perezcáis.

But they are lying to you, and will cause you to be taken far from your land. I will drive you out, and you will die.

11 M as la gente que sometiere su cuello al yugo del rey de Babilonia, y le sirviere, la haré dejar en su tierra, dijo el SEÑOR, y la labrará, y morará en ella.

But the nation that brings its neck under the cross-bar of the king of Babylon and serves him, I will let stay on its own land,” says the Lord. “And its people will take care of the fields and live there.”’”

12 Y hablé también a Sedequías rey de Judá conforme a todas estas palabras, diciendo: Someted vuestros cuellos al yugo del rey de Babilonia, y servidle a él y a su pueblo, y vivid.

I spoke to King Zedekiah of Judah in the same way, saying, “Bring your necks under the cross-bar of the king of Babylon. Serve him and his people, and live!

13 ¿ Por qué moriréis, tú y tu pueblo, a espada, de hambre, y de pestilencia, de la manera que ha dicho el SEÑOR a la gente que no sirviere al rey de Babilonia?

Why will you and your people die by the sword, hunger, and disease, as the Lord has said would happen to that nation which will not serve the king of Babylon?

14 N o oigáis las palabras de los profetas que os hablan, diciendo: No serviréis al rey de Babilonia; porque os profetizan mentira.

Do not listen to the men who tell of their dreams and say to you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon.’ For they are telling you a lie.

15 P orque yo no los envié, dice el SEÑOR, y ellos profetizan falsamente en mi nombre, para que yo os arroje, y perezcáis, vosotros y los profetas que os profetizan.

I have not sent them,” says the Lord. “They speak false words in My name, so that I may drive you out, and that you may die, both you and the men who tell these things to you.”

16 T ambién a los sacerdotes y a todo este pueblo hablé, diciendo: Así dijo el SEÑOR: No oigáis las palabras de vuestros profetas que os profetizan diciendo: He aquí que los vasos de la Casa del SEÑOR volverán de Babilonia ahora presto. Porque os profetizan mentira.

Then I said to the religious leaders and to all these people, “The Lord says: Do not listen to the men who speak in God’s name saying, ‘See, the objects of the Lord’s house will soon be returned from Babylon,’ for they are telling you a lie.

17 N o los oigáis; servid al rey de Babilonia, y vivid: ¿por qué ha de ser desierta esta ciudad?

Do not listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon and live! Why should this city be destroyed?

18 Y si ellos son profetas, y si es con ellos palabra del SEÑOR, oren ahora al SEÑOR de los ejércitos, que los vasos que han quedado en la Casa del SEÑOR y en la casa del rey de Judá y en Jerusalén, no vayan a Babilonia.

But if they are true men of God, and if the Word of the Lord is with them, let them now pray to the Lord of All. Let them ask that the objects which are left in the house of the Lord, in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, may not go to Babylon.

19 P orque así ha dicho el SEÑOR de los ejércitos de aquellas columnas, y del mar, y de las basas, y del resto de los vasos que quedan en esta ciudad,

For this is what the Lord of All says about the pillars, the brass pool, the stands, and the rest of the objects that are left in this city.

20 q ue no quitó Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, cuando transportó de Jerusalén a Babilonia a Jeconías hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, y a todos los nobles de Judá y de Jerusalén:

Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take these things from Jerusalem to Babylon when he took Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem.

21 A sí, pues, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, acerca de los vasos que quedaron en la Casa del SEÑOR, y en la Casa del rey de Judá, y en Jerusalén;

So this is what the Lord of All, the God of Israel, says about the objects that are left in the house of the Lord, and in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem. He says,

22 a Babilonia serán transportados, y allí estarán hasta el día en que yo los visitare, dijo el SEÑOR; y después los haré subir, y los tornaré a este lugar.

‘They will be carried to Babylon, and they will be there until the day I visit them,’ says the Lord. ‘Then I will bring them back to this place.’”
