1 H e aquí que para justicia reinará un rey; y príncipes presidirán para juicio.

See, a king will rule by what is right and good and princes will be fair.

2 Y será aquel Varón como escondedero contra el viento, y como acogida contra el turbión; como riberas de aguas en tierra de sequedad, como sombra de gran peñasco en tierra calurosa.

Each will be like a safe place from the wind, and a covering from the storm. Each will be like rivers of water in a dry country, and like the shadow of a large rock in a waste land.

3 N o se cegarán entonces los ojos de los que ven, y los oídos de los oyentes oirán atentos.

Then the eyes of those who see will be able to see. And the ears of those who hear will listen.

4 Y el corazón de los tontos entenderá para saber, y la lengua de los tartamudos será desenvuelta para hablar claramente.

The mind of those who act in a hurry will understand the truth. And the tongue of those who have trouble speaking will hurry to speak well.

5 E l mezquino nunca más será llamado liberal, ni será dicho generoso el avariento.

The fool will no more be called great. The bad man will no more be called a man of honor.

6 P orque el mezquino hablará mezquindades, y su corazón fabricará iniquidad, para hacer la impiedad; y para hablar escarnio contra el SEÑOR; dejando vacía el alma hambrienta, y quitando la bebida al sediento.

For a fool speaks foolish things. His mind plans wrong-doing, to sin and to say false things against the Lord, to keep the hungry person hungry, and to keep drink from the thirsty.

7 C ierto los avaros malas medidas tienen; él maquina pensamientos para enredar a los simples con palabras cautelosas; y para hablar en juicio contra el pobre.

The ways of the bad man are sinful. He makes sinful plans to destroy the suffering with lies, even when the one in need asks for what is right.

8 M as el liberal pensará liberalidades; y por liberalidades subirá.

But the man of honor makes good plans, and he stands for what is good. The Women of Jerusalem

9 M ujeres reposadas, levantaos; oíd mi voz; mujeres confiadas, escuchad mi razón.

Rise up, you women who live an easy life, and hear my voice. Listen to what I say, you daughters.

10 D ías y años tendréis espanto, oh confiadas; porque la vendimia faltará, y la cosecha no acudirá.

In a little more than a year, you will be troubled. There will be no grapes to gather, the wine will not be made.

11 T emblad, oh reposadas; turbaos, oh confiadas. Despojaos, desnudaos, ceñid los lomos con cilicio.

Shake with fear, you women who live an easy life. Be troubled, you daughters, who feel safe. Take off your clothes and cover your bodies with cloth made from hair.

12 S obre los pechos lamentarán por los campos deleitosos, por la vid fértil.

Beat your breasts for the good fields, for the vine full of fruit,

13 S obre la tierra de mi pueblo subirán espinas y cardos; y aun sobre todas las casas de placer en la ciudad de alegría.

and for the land of my people in which thorns and thistles will come up. Yes, be sorry for all the houses of joy, and for the happy city,

14 P orque los palacios serán desiertos, el estruendo de la ciudad cesará; las torres y fortalezas se tornarán cuevas para siempre, donde descansen asnos monteses, y ganados hagan majada,

because the king’s house will be empty. The city full of people will be left empty. The hill and the watch-tower will become a place for wild animals forever, a happy place for wild donkeys, a field for flocks.

15 h asta que sobre nosotros sea derramado el Espíritu de lo alto, y el desierto se torne en campo labrado; y el campo labrado sea estimado por bosque.

It will be this way until the Spirit is poured out upon us from heaven, and the desert becomes a field giving so much fruit, that it seems as if it has many trees.

16 Y habitará el juicio en el desierto, y en el campo labrado asentará la justicia.

Then what is right and fair will be in the desert. What is right and good will be in the field of much fruit.

17 Y el efecto de la justicia será paz; y la labor de justicia, reposo y seguridad para siempre.

The work of being right and good will give peace. From the right and good work will come quiet trust forever.

18 Y mi pueblo habitará en morada de paz: y en habitaciones seguras, y en refrigerios de reposo.

Then my people will live in a place of peace, in safe homes, and in quiet resting places.

19 Y el granizo, cuando descendiere, será en los montes; y la ciudad será del todo abatida.

But it will hail when the many trees come down and all the city will be laid waste.

20 D ichosos vosotros los que sembráis sobre todas las aguas; los que aréis con buey y con asno.

How happy will you be, you who plant seeds beside all waters, and let the cattle and donkeys eat in any field.
