1 ¶ Entonces Agripa dijo a Pablo: Se te permite hablar por ti mismo. Pablo entonces, extendiendo la mano, comenzó a dar razón por sí, diciendo:

Agrippa said to Paul, “You may now speak for yourself.” Paul lifted his hand and started to talk,

2 A cerca de todas las cosas de que soy acusado por los judíos, oh rey Agripa, me tengo por bienaventurado de que haya hoy de defenderme delante de ti;

“King Agrippa, the Jews have said many things against me. I am happy to be able to tell you my side of the story.

3 m ayormente sabiendo tú todas las costumbres y cuestiones que hay entre los judíos, por lo cual te ruego que me oigas con paciencia.

You know all about the Jewish ways and problems. So I ask you to listen to me until I have finished.

4 M i vida, pues, desde mi juventud, la cual desde el principio fue en mi nación, en Jerusalén, todos los judíos la saben;

“All the Jews know about my life from the time I was a boy until now. I lived among my own people in Jerusalem.

5 l os cuales tienen ya conocido que yo desde el principio, si quieren testificarlo, conforme a la más perfecta secta de nuestra religión he vivido, fariseo.

If they would tell what they know, they would say that I lived the life of a proud religious law-keeper. I was in the group of proud religious law-keepers who tried to obey every law.

6 Y ahora, por la esperanza de la promesa hecha por Dios a nuestros padres, soy llamado a juicio;

“And now I am on trial here because I trust the promise God made to our fathers.

7 a la cual promesa nuestras doce tribus, sirviendo constantemente de día y de noche, esperan que han de llegar. Por esta esperanza, oh rey Agripa, soy acusado de los judíos.

This promise is what our twelve family groups of the Jewish nation hope to see happen. They worship God day and night. King Agrippa, it is because of this hope that they are saying things against me.

8 ¡ Qué! ¿Se juzga cosa increíble entre vosotros que Dios resucite los muertos?

Why do you think it is hard to believe that God raises people from the dead?

9 Y o ciertamente había pensado hacer muchas cosas contrarias contra el nombre de Jesús el Nazareno;

“I used to think I should work hard against the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

10 l o cual también hice en Jerusalén, y yo encerré en cárceles a muchos de los santos, recibida potestad de los príncipes de los sacerdotes; y cuando los mataron, yo di mi voto.

I did that in Jerusalem. I put many of the followers in prison. The head religious leaders gave me the right and the power to do it. Then when the followers were killed, I said it was all right.

11 Y muchas veces, castigándolos por todas las sinagogas, los forcé a blasfemar; y enfurecido sobremanera contra ellos, los perseguí hasta en las ciudades extranjeras.

I beat them and tried to make them speak against God in all the Jewish places of worship. In my fight against them, I kept going after them even into cities in other countries.

12 ¶ En lo cual ocupado, yendo a Damasco con potestad y comisión de los príncipes de los sacerdotes,

“When I was going to Damascus to do this, I had the right and the power from the head religious leaders to make it hard for the followers.

13 e n mitad del día, oh rey, vi en el camino una luz del cielo, que sobrepujaba al resplandor del sol, la cual me rodeó y a los que iban conmigo.

I was on the road at noon. King Agrippa, I saw a light from heaven brighter than the sun. It was shining around me and the men with me.

14 Y habiendo caído todos nosotros en tierra, oí una voz que me hablaba, y decía en lengua hebraica: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues? Dura cosa te es dar coces contra los aguijones.

We all fell to the ground. Then I heard a voice speaking to me in the Jewish language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you working so hard against Me? You hurt yourself by trying to hurt Me.’

15 Y o entonces dije: ¿Quién eres, Señor? Y el Señor dijo: Yo Soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues.

I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus, the One you are working against.

16 M as levántate, y ponte sobre tus pies; porque para esto te he aparecido, para ponerte por ministro y testigo de las cosas que has visto, y de aquellas en que apareceré a ti;

Get up. Stand on your feet. I have chosen you to work for Me. You will tell what you have seen and you will say what I want you to say. This is the reason I have allowed you to see Me.

17 l ibrándote de este pueblo y de los gentiles, a los cuales ahora te envío,

I will keep you safe from the Jews and from the people who are not Jews. I am sending you to these people.

18 p ara que abras sus ojos, para que se conviertan de las tinieblas a la luz, y de la potestad de Satanás a Dios; para que reciban, por la fe que es en mí, remisión de pecados y herencia entre los santificados.

You are to open their eyes. You are to turn them from darkness to light. You are to turn them from the power of Satan to the power of God. In this way, they may have their sins forgiven. They may have what is given to them, along with all those who are set apart for God by having faith in Me.’

19 P or lo cual, oh rey Agripa, no fui rebelde a la visión celestial:

“King Agrippa, I obeyed what I saw from heaven.

20 A ntes anuncié primeramente a los que están en Damasco, y Jerusalén, y por toda la tierra de Judea, y a los gentiles, que se arrepintieran y se convirtieran a Dios, haciendo obras dignas de arrepentimiento.

First I told what I saw to those in Damascus and then in Jerusalem. I told it through all the country of Judea. I even preached to the people who are not Jews that they should be sorry for their sins and turn from them to God. I told them they should do things to show they are sorry for their sins.

21 P or causa de esto los judíos, tomándome en el Templo, intentaron matarme.

“That is why the Jews took hold of me in the house of God and tried to kill me.

22 M as ayudado del auxilio de Dios, persevero hasta el día de hoy, dando testimonio a pequeños y a grandes, no diciendo nada fuera de las cosas que los profetas y Moisés dijeron que habían de venir:

God has helped me. To this day I have told these things to the people who are well-known and to those not known. I have told only what the early preachers and Moses said would happen.

23 Q ue el Cristo había de padecer, que había de ser el primero de la resurrección de los muertos, que había de anunciar luz a este pueblo y a los gentiles.

It was that Christ must suffer and be the first to rise from the dead. He would give light to the Jews and to the other nations.”

24 ¶ Y diciendo él estas cosas, (y dando razón de sí) Festo a gran voz dijo: Estás loco, Pablo; las muchas letras te vuelven loco.

As Paul was speaking for himself, Festus cried out in a loud voice, “Paul, you are crazy! All your learning keeps you from thinking right!”

25 Y Pablo dijo: No estoy loco, excelentísimo Festo, sino que hablo palabras de verdad y de templanza.

Paul said, “Most respected Festus, I am not crazy. I am speaking the truth!

26 P ues el rey sabe estas cosas, delante del cual también hablo confiadamente. Pues no pienso que ignora nada de esto; pues no ha sido esto hecho en algún rincón.

The king knows about all this. I am free to speak to him in plain words. Nothing I have said is new to him. These things happened where everyone saw them.

27 ¿ Crees, rey Agripa, a los profetas? Yo sé que crees.

King Agrippa, do you believe the writings of the early preachers? I know that you believe them.”

28 E ntonces Agripa dijo a Pablo: Por poco me persuades que me haga cristiano.

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “In this short time you have almost proven to me that I should become a Christian!”

29 Y Pablo dijo: ¡Deseo delante de Dios que por poco o por mucho, no solamente tú, sino también todos los que hoy me oyen, fuerais hechos tales cual yo soy, excepto estas prisiones!

Paul said, “My prayer to God is that you and all who hear me today would be a Christian as I am, only not have these chains!”

30 Y como hubo dicho estas cosas, se levantó el rey, y el gobernador, y Berenice, y los que se habían sentado con ellos;

King Agrippa and Festus and Bernice and those who sat with them got up.

31 c uando se retiraron aparte, hablaban los unos a los otros, diciendo: Ninguna cosa digna ni de muerte, ni de prisión, hace este hombre.

As they left the courtroom, they said to each other, “This man has done nothing for which he should be kept in prison or be put to death.”

32 Y Agripa dijo a Festo: Podía este hombre ser suelto, si no hubiera apelado a César.

Agrippa told Festus, “This man could go free if he had not asked to be sent to Caesar.”
