1 ¶ Justificados pues por la fe, tenemos paz para con Dios por el Señor nuestro, Jesús, el Cristo;

Now that we have been made right with God by putting our trust in Him, we have peace with Him. It is because of what our Lord Jesus Christ did for us.

2 p or el cual también tenemos entrada por la fe a esta gracia en la cual estamos firmes, y nos gloriamos en la esperanza de la gloria (de los hijos) de Dios.

By putting our trust in God, He has given us His loving-favor and has received us. We are happy for the hope we have of sharing the shining-greatness of God.

3 Y no sólo esto, mas aun nos gloriamos en las tribulaciones, sabiendo que la tribulación produce paciencia;

We are glad for our troubles also. We know that troubles help us learn not to give up.

4 y la paciencia, experiencia; y la experiencia, esperanza;

When we have learned not to give up, it shows we have stood the test. When we have stood the test, it gives us hope.

5 y la esperanza no será avergonzada; porque el amor de Dios está derramado en nuestros corazones por el Espíritu Santo que nos es dado.

Hope never makes us ashamed because the love of God has come into our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who was given to us.

6 ¶ Porque el Cristo, cuando aún éramos flacos, a su tiempo murió por los impíos.

We were weak and could not help ourselves. Then Christ came at the right time and gave His life for all sinners.

7 C iertamente apenas muere alguno por un justo; porque por lo bueno puede ser que alguno osara morir.

No one is willing to die for another person, but for a good man someone might be willing to die.

8 M as Dios encarece su caridad para con nosotros, en que siendo aún pecadores, el Cristo murió por nosotros.

But God showed His love to us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9 L uego mucho más ahora, justificados en su sangre, por él seremos salvos de la ira.

Now that we have been saved from the punishment of sin by the blood of Christ, He will save us from God’s anger also.

10 P orque si siendo enemigos, fuimos reconciliados con Dios por la muerte de su Hijo, mucho más, ya reconciliados, seremos salvos por su vida.

We hated God. But we were saved from the punishment of sin by the death of Christ. He has brought us back to God and we will be saved by His life.

11 Y no sólo esto, más aún nos gloriamos en Dios por el Señor nuestro Jesús el Cristo, por el cual ahora hemos recibido la reconciliación.

Not only that, we give thanks to God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we have been brought back to God.

12 P or tanto, de la manera que el pecado entró en el mundo por un hombre, y por el pecado la muerte, y la muerte así pasó a todos los hombres en aquel en quien todos pecaron.

This is what happened: Sin came into the world by one man, Adam. Sin brought death with it. Death spread to all men because all have sinned.

13 P orque hasta la ley, el pecado estaba en el mundo; mas el pecado no era imputado, no habiendo ley.

Sin was in the world before the Law was given. But sin is not held against a person when there is no Law.

14 P ero, reinó la muerte desde Adán hasta Moisés, aun en los que no pecaron a la manera de la rebelión de Adán; el cual es figura del que había de venir.

And yet death had power over men from the time of Adam until the time of Moses. Even the power of death was over those who had not sinned in the same way Adam sinned. Adam was like the One Who was to come.

15 M as no como el delito, tal es el don; porque si por el delito de aquel uno murieron muchos, mucha más la gracia de Dios, y el don por la gracia de un hombre, Jesús el Cristo, abundó a muchos.

God’s free gift is not like the sin of Adam. Many people died because of the sin of this one man, Adam. But the loving-favor of God came to many people also. This gift came also by one Man Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

16 N i tampoco de la manera que por un pecado, así también el don; porque el juicio a la verdad vino de un pecado para condenación, mas la gracia vino de muchos delitos para justificación.

The free gift of God is not like Adam’s sin. God told Adam he was guilty because of his sin and through this one came sin and guilt. But the free gift makes men right with God. Through One, Christ, men’s sins are forgiven.

17 P orque, si por un delito reinó la muerte por causa de uno solo, mucho más reinarán en vida por uno solo, Jesús, el Cristo, los que reciben la abundancia de gracia, y de dones y de la justicia.

The power of death was over all men because of the sin of one man, Adam. But many people will receive His loving-favor and the gift of being made right with God. They will have power in life by Jesus Christ.

18 A sí que, de la manera que por la iniquidad de uno vino la culpa a todos los hombres para condenación, así por la justicia de uno vino la gracia a todos los hombres para justificación de vida.

Through Adam’s sin, death and hell came to all men. But another Man, Christ, by His right act makes men free and gives them life.

19 P orque como por la desobediencia de un hombre muchos fueron hechos pecadores, así por la obediencia de uno, muchos serán hechos justos.

Adam did not obey God, and many people become sinners through him. Christ obeyed God and makes many people right with Himself.

20 L a ley empero entró para que el delito creciera; mas cuando el pecado creció, sobrepujó la gracia;

Sin spread when the Law was given. But where sin spread, God’s loving-favor spread all the more.

21 p ara que, de la manera que el pecado reinó para muerte, así también la gracia reine por la justicia para vida eterna por Jesús, el Cristo, Señor nuestro.

Sin had power that ended in death. Now, God’s loving-favor has power to make men right with Himself. It gives life that lasts forever. Our Lord Jesus Christ did this for us.
