1 E n el año duodécimo de Acaz rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Oseas hijo de Ela en Samaria sobre Israel; y reinó nueve años.

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah became the king of Israel in Samaria. He ruled for nine years.

2 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, aunque no como los reyes de Israel que antes de él habían sido.

Hoshea did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord, but not as bad as the kings of Israel before him.

3 C ontra éste subió Salmanasar rey de los Asirios; y Oseas fue hecho su siervo, y le daba presente.

King Shalmaneser of Assyria came up against him. And Hoshea became his servant and paid taxes to him.

4 M as el rey de Asiria halló que Oseas hacía conjuración; porque había enviado embajadores a So, rey de Egipto, y ya no daba presente al rey de Asiria, como cada año; y el rey de Asiria le detuvo, y le aprisionó en la casa de la cárcel.

But the king of Assyria found that Hoshea had been making plans against him. Hoshea had sent men to King So of Egypt, instead of giving taxes to the king of Assyria. He had done this year after year. So the king of Assyria shut him up and put him in chains in prison. Israel Carried Away to Assyria

5 Y el rey de Asiria subió por toda la tierra, y subió contra Samaria, y la cercó tres años.

Then the king of Assyria came against all the land. He went up to Samaria and kept soldiers around it for three years.

6 E n el año nueve de Oseas tomó el rey de Asiria a Samaria, y transportó a Israel a Asiria, y los puso en Halah, y en Habor, junto al río de Gozán, y en las ciudades de los Medos.

In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria in battle, and took the people of Israel away to Assyria. He had them live in Halah and Habor, by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

7 P orque como los hijos de Israel pecaron contra el SEÑOR su Dios, que los sacó de tierra de Egipto de bajo la mano de Faraón rey de Egipto, y temieran a dioses ajenos,

This happened because the people of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God. He had brought them up from the land of Egypt from under the power of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. But they worshiped other gods.

8 y anduvieran en los estatutos de los gentiles que el SEÑOR había lanzado delante de los hijos de Israel, y en los estatutos de los reyes de Israel, que hicieron;

They walked in the ways of the nations the Lord had driven out from the people of Israel. And they walked in the ways the kings of Israel had started.

9 y como los hijos de Israel hicieron en secreto cosas no rectas contra el SEÑOR su Dios, edificándose lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, desde las torres de las atalayas hasta las ciudades fuertes,

The people of Israel did things in secret which were not right, against the Lord their God. They built high places for themselves in all their towns, from the smallest town to the strongest city.

10 y se levantaran estatuas y bosques en todo collado alto, y debajo de todo árbol umbroso,

They set up holy objects of the false goddess Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree.

11 y quemaran allí incienso en todos los lugares altos a la manera de los gentiles, los cuales el SEÑOR había traspuesto delante de ellos, e hicieron cosas muy malas para provocar a ira al SEÑOR,

There they burned special perfume on all the high places, as the nations did which the Lord carried away from them. They did what was bad and made the Lord angry.

12 s irviendo a los ídolos, de los cuales el SEÑOR les había dicho: Vosotros no haréis esto.

They worshiped false gods, about which the Lord had told them, “You must not do this.”

13 E l SEÑOR protestaba entonces contra Israel y contra Judá, por mano de todos los profetas, y de todos los videntes, diciendo: Volveos de vuestros malos caminos, y guardad mis mandamientos, y mis ordenanzas, conforme a todas las leyes que yo mandé a vuestros padres, y que os he enviado por mano de mis siervos los profetas.

The Lord told Israel and Judah of the danger, through all His men who told what would happen in the future. He said, “Turn from your sinful ways and obey My Laws. Keep all the Laws which I gave your fathers, and which I gave to you through My servants and men of God.”

14 M as ellos no escucharon, antes endurecieron su cerviz, como la cerviz de sus padres, los cuales nunca creyeron en el SEÑOR su Dios.

But they did not listen. They were strong-willed like their fathers, who did not believe in the Lord their God.

15 Y desecharon sus estatutos, y su pacto que él había concertado con sus padres; y sus testimonios, que él había protestado contra ellos; y siguieron la vanidad, y fueron hechos vanos, y fueron en pos de los gentiles que estaban alrededor de ellos, de las cuales les había mandado el SEÑOR que no hicieran a la manera de ellos.

They turned away from His Laws and His agreement which He made with their fathers. They turned away when He told them of danger. They followed false gods, and became empty. They followed the nations around them. But the Lord had told them not to act like them.

16 Y dejaron todos los mandamientos del SEÑOR su Dios, y se hicieron vaciadizos, dos becerros; e hicieron bosques, y adoraron a todo el ejército del cielo, y sirvieron a Baal;

They turned away from all the Laws of the Lord their God and made objects to look like false gods. They made two calves and an object to look like the false goddess Asherah. And they worshiped all the stars of heaven and worked for Baal.

17 e hicieron pasar a sus hijos y a sus hijas por fuego; y adivinaron adivinaciones y agüeros, y se entregaron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, provocándole a ira.

Then they gave their sons and daughters as burnt gifts. They told the future and used witchcraft. They sold themselves to do what is sinful in the eyes of the Lord. And they made Him angry.

18 Y el SEÑOR se airó en gran manera contra Israel, y los quitó de delante de su rostro; que no quedó sino sólo la tribu de Judá.

The Lord was very angry with Israel, and put them away from his eyes. None was left except the family of Judah.

19 M as ni aun Judá guardó los mandamientos del SEÑOR su Dios; antes anduvieron en los estatutos de Israel, los cuales ellos mismos hicieron.

Even Judah did not keep the Laws of the Lord their God. They walked in the ways which Israel had started.

20 Y desechó el SEÑOR toda la simiente de Israel, y los afligió, y los entregó en manos de saqueadores, hasta echarlos de su presencia.

And the Lord turned away from all the children of Israel, and sent trouble upon them. He gave them over to those who destroyed the land, until He had put them away from His eyes.

21 P orque cortó a Israel de la casa de David, y ellos hicieron rey a Jeroboam hijo de Nabat; y Jeroboam empujó a Israel de en pos del SEÑOR, y les hizo cometer gran pecado.

When He had torn Israel from the family of David, they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. Then Jeroboam drove Israel away from following the Lord. He led them into sin.

22 Y los hijos de Israel anduvieron en todos los pecados de Jeroboam, que él hizo, sin apartarse de ellos;

And the people of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam. They did not turn away from them,

23 h asta tanto que el SEÑOR quitó a Israel de delante de su rostro, como lo había él dicho por mano de todos los profetas sus siervos; e Israel fue transportado de su tierra a Asiria, hasta hoy.

until the Lord put Israel away from His eyes. He spoke through all His servants who tell what will happen in the future that He would do this. So Israel was carried away from their own land to Assyria until this day. Assyrians Live in Israel

24 ¶ Y trajo el rey de Asiria gentiles de Babilonia, de Cuta, de Ava, de Hamat, y de Sefarvaim, y los puso en las ciudades de Samaria en lugar de los hijos de Israel; y poseyeron a Samaria, y habitaron en sus ciudades.

The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath and Sephar-vaim. He had them live in the cities of Samaria in place of the people of Israel. So they took Samaria for their own, and lived in its cities.

25 Y aconteció al principio, cuando comenzaron a habitar allí, que no temiendo ellos al SEÑOR, envió el SEÑOR contra ellos leones que los mataban.

At the beginning of their living there, they did not fear the Lord. So the Lord sent lions among them, which killed some of them.

26 E ntonces dijeron ellos al rey de Asiria: Los gentiles que tú traspasaste y pusiste en las ciudades de Samaria, no saben el juicio del Dios de aquella tierra, y él ha echado leones en ellos, y he aquí los matan, porque no saben el juicio del Dios de la tierra.

They said to the king of Assyria, “The nations you have carried away to the cities of Samaria do not know the way of the god of the land. So He has sent lions among them to kill them because they do not know the way of the god of the land.”

27 Y el rey de Asiria mandó, diciendo: Llevad allí a alguno de los sacerdotes que trajisteis de allá; y vayan, y habiten allí, y les enseñen el juicio del Dios de la tierra.

Then the king of Assyria told them, “Take to Samaria one of the religious leaders you brought from there. Let him go and live in Samaria. And let him teach them the way of the god of the land.”

28 Y vino uno de los sacerdotes que habían transportado de Samaria, y habitó en Bet-el, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer al SEÑOR.

So one of the religious leaders they had taken away from Samaria came and lived at Bethel. And he taught them how they should worship the Lord.

29 M as cada nación se hizo sus dioses, y los pusieron en las casas de los lugares altos que habían hecho los de Samaria; cada nación en su ciudad donde habitaba.

But every nation still made gods of its own. They put them in the houses of the high places which the people of Samaria had made. The people of every nation did this in the cities where they lived.

30 L os de Babilonia hicieron a Sucot-benot, y los de Cuta hicieron a Nergal, y los de Hamat hicieron a Asima;

The men of Babylon made the false god Succoth-benoth. The men of Cuth made the false god Nergal. The men of Hamath made the false god Ashima.

31 l os aveos hicieron a Nibhaz y a Tartac; y los de Sefarvaim quemaban sus hijos con fuego a Adramelec y a Anamelec, dioses de Sefarvaim.

The Avvites made the false gods Nibhaz and Tartak. And the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adram-melech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

32 Y temían al SEÑOR; e hicieron del pueblo bajo sacerdotes para los lugares altos, quienes sacrificaban para ellos en las casas de los lugares altos.

They feared the Lord also, and yet they chose from among themselves religious leaders of the high places. These leaders gave the gifts for them in the houses of the high places.

33 T emían al SEÑOR, y honraban también a sus dioses, según la costumbre de los gentiles que habían hecho traspasar de allí.

So the people feared the Lord, but they worshiped their own gods also. They followed the way of the nations from which they had been taken away.

34 H asta hoy hacen como antes; que ni temen al SEÑOR, ni guardan sus estatutos, ni sus ordenanzas; ni hacen según la ley y los mandamientos que mandó el SEÑOR a los hijos de Jacob, al cual puso el nombre de Israel;

To this day, they follow the ways of times past. They do not honor the Lord. They do not follow the Laws or the Word which the Lord told the sons of Jacob, whom He gave the name Israel.

35 c on los cuales el SEÑOR había hecho pacto, y les mandó, diciendo: No temeréis a otros dioses, ni los adoraréis, ni les serviréis, ni les sacrificaréis;

The Lord had made an agreement and told them, “You must not fear other gods. You must not put your faces to the ground in front of them, or worship them, or give gifts to them.

36 m as solamente al SEÑOR vuestro Dios, que os sacó de tierra de Egipto con potencia grande y brazo extendido, a éste temeréis, y a éste adoraréis, y a éste haréis sacrificio.

But fear the Lord, Who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and with a strong arm. Put your faces to the ground before Him. And give Him your gifts.

37 L os estatutos y derechos, y la ley, y los mandamientos, que os dio por escrito, cuidaréis de cumplirlos todos los días, y no temeréis a dioses ajenos.

Obey forever the Laws and the Word which He wrote for you. Do not fear other gods.

38 Y no olvidaréis el pacto que hice con vosotros; ni temeréis a dioses ajenos.

Do not forget the agreement I have made with you. And do not honor other gods with fear.

39 M as temed al SEÑOR vuestro Dios, y él os librará de mano de todos vuestros enemigos.

Fear the Lord your God and He will save you from those who hate you.”

40 P ero ellos no escucharon; antes hicieron según su costumbre antigua.

But they did not listen. They followed the ways of times past.

41 A sí temieron al SEÑOR aquellos gentiles, y juntamente sirvieron a sus ídolos; y asimismo sus hijos y sus nietos, según que hicieron sus padres, así hacen hasta hoy.

These nations feared the Lord, but they worshiped their false gods also. Their children and grandchildren did the same, and they do as their fathers did to this day.
