1 S ean, pues, imitadores de Dios como hijos amados;

Do as God would do. Much-loved children want to do as their fathers do.

2 y anden en amor, así como también Cristo les amó y se dio a sí mismo por nosotros, ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios, como fragante aroma.

Live with love as Christ loved you. He gave Himself for us, a gift on the altar to God which was as a sweet smell to God.

3 P ero que la inmoralidad, y toda impureza o avaricia, ni siquiera se mencionen entre ustedes, como corresponde a los santos.

Do not let sex sins or anything sinful be even talked about among those who belong to Christ. Do not always want everything.

4 T ampoco haya obscenidades, ni necedades, ni groserías, que no son apropiadas, sino más bien acciones de gracias.

Do not be guilty of telling bad stories and of foolish talk. These things are not for you to do. Instead, you are to give thanks for what God has done for you.

5 P orque con certeza ustedes saben esto: que ningún inmoral, impuro, o avaro, que es idólatra, tiene herencia en el reino de Cristo y de Dios.

Be sure of this! No person who does sex sins or who is not pure will have any part in the holy nation of Christ and of God. The same is true for the person who always wants what other people have. This becomes a god to him.

6 Q ue nadie los engañe con palabras vanas, pues por causa de estas cosas la ira de Dios viene sobre los hijos de desobediencia.

Do not let anyone lead you in the wrong way with foolish talk. The anger of God comes on such people because they choose to not obey Him.

7 P or tanto, no sean partícipes con ellos;

Have nothing to do with them.

8 p orque antes ustedes eran tinieblas, pero ahora son luz en el Señor; anden como hijos de luz.

At one time you lived in darkness. Now you are living in the light that comes from the Lord. Live as children who have the light of the Lord in them.

9 P orque el fruto de la luz consiste en toda bondad, justicia y verdad.

This light gives us truth. It makes us right with God and makes us good.

10 E xaminen qué es lo que agrada al Señor,

Learn how to please the Lord.

11 y no participen en las obras estériles de las tinieblas, sino más bien, desenmascárenlas (repróchenlas).

Have nothing to do with the bad things done in darkness. Instead, show that these things are wrong.

12 P orque es vergonzoso aun hablar de las cosas que ellos hacen en secreto.

It is a shame even to talk about these things done in secret.

13 P ero todas las cosas se hacen visibles cuando son expuestas por la luz, pues todo lo que se hace visible es luz.

All things can be seen when they are in the light. Everything that can be seen is in the light.

14 P or esta razón dice: “Despierta, tú que duermes, Y levántate de entre los muertos, Y te alumbrará Cristo.”

The Holy Writings say, “Wake up, you who are sleeping. Rise from the dead and Christ will give you light.” Be Filled With the Spirit of God

15 P or tanto, tengan cuidado cómo andan; no como insensatos sino como sabios,

So be careful how you live. Live as men who are wise and not foolish.

16 a provechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos.

Make the best use of your time. These are sinful days.

17 A sí pues, no sean necios, sino entiendan cuál es la voluntad del Señor.

Do not be foolish. Understand what the Lord wants you to do.

18 Y no se embriaguen con vino, en lo cual hay disolución, sino sean llenos del Espíritu.

Do not get drunk with wine. That leads to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.

19 H ablen entre ustedes con salmos, himnos y cantos espirituales, cantando y alabando con su corazón al Señor.

Tell of your joy to each other by singing the Songs of David and church songs. Sing in your heart to the Lord.

20 D en siempre gracias por todo, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, a Dios, el Padre.

Always give thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. How Wives Must Live

21 S ométanse unos a otros en el temor (la reverencia) de Cristo. Cristo y la Iglesia, un Modelo para el Hogar

Be willing to help and care for each other because of Christ. By doing this, you honor Christ.

22 L as mujeres estén sometidas a sus propios maridos como al Señor.

Wives, obey your own husbands. In doing this, you obey the Lord.

23 P orque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia, siendo El mismo el Salvador del cuerpo.

For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. It is His body (the church) that He saves.

24 P ero así como la iglesia está sujeta a Cristo, también las mujeres deben estarlo a sus maridos en todo.

As the church is to obey Christ, wives are to obey their own husbands in everything. How Husbands Must Live

25 M aridos, amen a sus mujeres, así como Cristo amó a la iglesia y se dio El mismo por ella,

Husbands, love your wives. You must love them as Christ loved the church. He gave His life for it.

26 p ara santificarla, habiéndola purificado por el lavamiento del agua con la palabra,

Christ did this so He could set the church apart for Himself. He made it clean by the washing of water with the Word.

27 a fin de presentársela a sí mismo, una iglesia en toda su gloria, sin que tenga mancha ni arruga ni cosa semejante, sino que fuera santa e inmaculada.

Christ did this so the church might stand before Him in shining-greatness. There is to be no sin of any kind in it. It is to be holy and without blame.

28 A sí deben también los maridos amar a sus mujeres, como a sus propios cuerpos. El que ama a su mujer, a sí mismo se ama.

So men should love their wives as they love their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

29 P orque nadie aborreció jamás su propio cuerpo, sino que lo sustenta y lo cuida, así como también Cristo a la iglesia;

No man hates himself. He takes care of his own body. That is the way Christ does. He cares for His body which is the church.

30 p orque somos miembros de Su cuerpo.

We are all a part of His body, the church.

31 P or esto el hombre dejara a su padre y a su madre, y se unira a su mujer, y los dos seran una sola carne.

For this reason, a man must leave his father and mother when he gets married and be joined to his wife. The two become one.

32 G rande es este misterio, pero hablo con referencia a Cristo y a la iglesia.

This is hard to understand, but it shows that the church is the body of Christ.

33 E n todo caso, cada uno de ustedes ame también a su mujer como a sí mismo, y que la mujer respete a su marido.

So every man must love his wife as he loves himself. Every wife must respect her husband.
