1 Y aconteció que en los días de Acaz, hijo de Jotam, hijo de Uzías, rey de Judá, subió Rezín, rey de Aram, con Peka, hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, a Jerusalén para combatir contra ella, pero no pudieron tomarla.

In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, King Rezin of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to make war against Jerusalem. But they could not win the battle.

2 C uando se dio este aviso a la casa de David: “Los Arameos han acampado en Efraín,” se estremeció el corazón del rey y el corazón de su pueblo como se estremecen los árboles del bosque ante el viento.

When the family of David was told, “Syria has joined with Ephraim,” his heart and the hearts of his people shook as trees shake with the wind.

3 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Isaías: “Sal ahora al encuentro de Acaz, tú, y tu hijo Sear Jasub, al extremo del acueducto del estanque superior, en la calzada del campo del Batanero,

Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Now you and your son Shear-jashub go out to meet Ahaz at the end of the ditch of the upper pool on the road to the Fuller’s Field.

4 y dile: ‘Cuídate y ten calma. No temas ni desmaye tu corazón ante estos dos cabos de tizones humeantes, a causa de la ira encendida de Rezín de Aram y del hijo de Remalías.

Say to him, ‘Be careful and quiet. Do not be afraid or weak in your heart because of these two pieces of burnt and smoking wood. Do not be afraid of the burning anger of Rezin and Syria and the son of Remaliah.

5 P orque Aram ha tramado mal contra ti, junto con Efraín y el hijo de Remalías, y han dicho:

Syria, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, have made sinful plans against you, saying,

6 “ Subamos contra Judá y aterroricémosla, hagamos una brecha en sus murallas y pongamos por rey en medio de ella al hijo de Tabeel.”

“Let us go up against Judah and make the people very afraid. Let us break open its walls, and make the son of Tabeel its king.”

7 ‘ Por tanto así dice el Señor Dios: “No prevalecerá ni se cumplirá.

But the Lord God says, “This plan will not work. It will not happen.

8 P orque la cabeza de Aram es Damasco, y la cabeza de Damasco es Rezín (y dentro de otros sesenta y cinco años Efraín será destrozado, dejando de ser pueblo),

For the head of Syria is Damascus and the head of Damascus is Rezin. (Within another sixty-five years Ephraim will be destroyed so that it is no longer a people.)

9 y la cabeza de Efraín es Samaria, y la cabeza de Samaria es el hijo de Remalías. Si ustedes no lo creen, de cierto no permanecerán.”’”

The head of Ephraim is Samaria. And the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you will not believe, for sure you will not last.”’” Word about Immanuel

10 E l Señor habló de nuevo a Acaz:

Then the Lord spoke again to Ahaz, saying,

11 “ Pide para ti una señal del Señor tu Dios que sea tan profunda como el Seol (región de los muertos) o tan alta como el cielo.”

“Ask for something special to see from the Lord your God. Ask for it to be as deep as the place of the dead or as high as heaven.”

12 P ero Acaz respondió: “No pediré, ni tentaré al Señor.”

But Ahaz said, “I will not ask. I will not test the Lord.”

13 E ntonces Isaías dijo: “Oigan ahora, casa de David: ¿Les parece poco cansar a los hombres, que también cansarán a mi Dios ?

Then Isaiah said, “Listen now, O people of David! Is it too small a thing for you to test men, that you will test my God as well?

14 P or tanto, el Señor mismo les dará esta señal: Una virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y Le pondrá por nombre Emmanuel (Dios con nosotros).

So the Lord Himself will give you a special thing to see: A young woman, who has never had a man, will give birth to a son. She will give Him the name Immanuel.

15 C omerá cuajada y miel hasta que sepa lo suficiente para desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno.

He will eat milk and honey when He knows enough to have nothing to do with wrong-doing and chooses good.

16 P orque antes que el niño sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno, será abandonada la tierra cuyos dos reyes tú temes.

For before the boy knows to turn away from what is bad and choose good, the land whose two kings you are afraid of will be left empty.”

17 E l Señor hará venir sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre la casa de tu padre, días como nunca han venido desde el día en que Efraín se apartó de Judá, es decir, al rey de Asiria.”

The Lord will bring upon you and your people and your father’s house such days as have never come since the day that Ephraim was divided from Judah. He is going to bring the king of Assyria on you.

18 Y sucederá en aquel día que el Señor silbará a la mosca que está en lo más remoto de los ríos de Egipto, y a la abeja que está en la tierra de Asiria.

In that day the Lord will call for flies that are in the farthest part of the rivers of Egypt, and for bees that are in the land of Assyria.

19 Y todas ellas vendrán y se posarán en los precipicios de las barrancas, en las hendiduras de las peñas, en todos los espinos y en todos los abrevaderos.

They will all come and stay in the narrow valleys, on the hill-sides, on the thorn bushes, and in the fields.

20 E n aquel día, con navaja alquilada en las regiones más allá del Eufrates, es decir, con el rey de Asiria, el Señor afeitará la cabeza y el pelo de las piernas, y también quitará la barba.

In that day the Lord will use the king of Assyria from the other side of the Euphrates to cut off the hair from your head, your legs, and your face.

21 E n aquel día cada uno criará una novilla y un par de ovejas.

In that day a man will keep alive a young cow and two sheep.

22 Y por la abundancia de leche que darán, comerá cuajada, porque todo el que quede en la tierra comerá cuajada y miel.

And because they give much milk, he will have all he can use. For everyone who is left in the land will have milk and honey to eat.

23 E n aquel día, en todo lugar donde había mil vides valoradas en 1, 000 siclos (11. 4 kilos) de plata, habrá zarzas y espinos.

In that day, every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand pieces of silver, will be thistles and thorns.

24 L a gente se irá allá con arcos y flechas, porque toda la tierra será zarzas y espinos.

Men will go there with bows and arrows because all the land will be covered with thistles and thorns.

25 Y en cuanto a todas las colinas que eran cultivadas con la azada, no irás allá por temor de las zarzas y espinos; pero se convertirán en lugar para soltar los bueyes y para ser pisoteado por las ovejas.

As for all the hills which used to be cared for as a garden, you will not go there for fear of thistles and thorns. They will become a place where cattle feed and where sheep will run.
