1 L o que existía desde el principio, lo que hemos oído, lo que hemos visto con nuestros propios ojos, lo que hemos contemplado y lo que han tocado nuestras manos, esto escribimos acerca del Verbo de vida.

Christ is the Word of Life. He was from the beginning. We have heard Him and have seen Him with our own eyes. We have looked at Him and put our hands on Him.

2 Y la Vida (Cristo) se manifestó. Nosotros la hemos visto, y damos testimonio y les anunciamos a ustedes la vida eterna que estaba con el Padre y se manifestó a nosotros.

Christ Who is Life was shown to us. We saw Him. We tell you and preach about the Life that lasts forever. He was with the Father and He has come down to us.

3 L o que hemos visto y oído les proclamamos también a ustedes, para que también ustedes tengan comunión con nosotros. En verdad nuestra comunión es con el Padre y con Su Hijo Jesucristo.

We are preaching what we have heard and seen. We want you to share together with us what we have with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.

4 L es escribimos estas cosas para que nuestro gozo sea completo. Dios es Luz

We are writing this to you so our joy may be full. Christians Are to Live in the Light

5 Y éste es el mensaje que hemos oído de El y que les anunciamos: Dios es Luz, y en El no hay ninguna tiniebla.

This is what we heard Him tell us. We are passing it on to you. God is light. There is no darkness in Him.

6 S i decimos que tenemos comunión con El, pero andamos en tinieblas, mentimos y no practicamos la verdad.

If we say we are joined together with Him but live in darkness, we are telling a lie. We are not living the truth.

7 P ero si andamos en la Luz, como El está en la Luz, tenemos comunión los unos con los otros, y la sangre de Jesús Su Hijo nos limpia de todo pecado.

If we live in the light as He is in the light, we share what we have in God with each other. And the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, makes our lives clean from all sin.

8 S i decimos que no tenemos pecado, nos engañamos a nosotros mismos y la verdad no está en nosotros.

If we say that we have no sin, we lie to ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9 S i confesamos nuestros pecados, El es fiel y justo para perdonarnos los pecados y para limpiarnos de toda maldad (iniquidad).

If we tell Him our sins, He is faithful and we can depend on Him to forgive us of our sins. He will make our lives clean from all sin.

10 S i decimos que no hemos pecado, Lo hacemos a El mentiroso y Su palabra no está en nosotros.

If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar. And His Word is not in our hearts.
