1 L os propósitos del corazón son del hombre, Pero la respuesta de la lengua es del Señor.

The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

2 T odos los caminos del hombre son limpios ante sus propios ojos, Pero el Señor sondea los espíritus.

All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the thoughts of the heart.

3 E ncomienda tus obras al Señor, Y tus propósitos se afianzarán.

Trust your work to the Lord, and your plans will work out well.

4 T odas las cosas hechas por el Señor tienen su propio fin, Hasta el impío, para el día del mal.

The Lord has made all things for His own plans, even the sinful for the day of trouble.

5 A bominación al Señor es todo el que es altivo de corazón; Ciertamente no quedará sin castigo.

Everyone who is proud in heart is a shame to the Lord. For sure, that one will be punished.

6 C on misericordia y verdad se expía la culpa, Y con el temor del Señor el hombre se aparta del mal.

Sin has been paid for by loving-kindness and truth. The fear of the Lord keeps one away from sin.

7 C uando los caminos del hombre son agradables al Señor, Aun a sus enemigos hace que estén en paz con él.

When the ways of a man are pleasing to the Lord, He makes even those who hate him to be at peace with him.

8 M ejor es poco con justicia, Que gran ganancia con injusticia.

A little earned in a right way is better than much earned in a wrong way.

9 L a mente del hombre planea su camino, Pero el Señor dirige sus pasos.

The mind of a man plans his way, but the Lord shows him what to do.

10 D ecisión divina hay en los labios del rey; En el juicio no debe errar su boca.

The lips of the king should decide as God would. His mouth should not sin in deciding what is right or wrong.

11 E l peso y las balanzas justas son del Señor; Todas las pesas de la bolsa son obra Suya.

What is fair in telling the weight of something belongs to the Lord. He cares about all the weights of the bag.

12 E s abominación para los reyes cometer iniquidad, Porque el trono se afianza en la justicia.

It is a hated thing for kings to do what is wrong. For a throne is built on what is right.

13 E l agrado de los reyes son los labios justos, Y amado será el que hable lo recto.

Lips that speak what is right and good are the joy of kings, and he who speaks the truth is loved.

14 E l furor del rey es como mensajero de muerte, Pero el hombre sabio lo aplacará.

The anger of a king carries death, but a wise man will quiet it.

15 E n el resplandor del rostro del rey hay vida, Y su favor es como nube de lluvia tardía.

Life is in the light of a king’s face, and his favor is like a cloud bringing the spring rain.

16 A dquirir sabiduría, cuánto mejor que el oro, Y adquirir inteligencia es preferible a la plata.

To get wisdom is much better than getting gold. To get understanding should be chosen instead of silver.

17 L a senda de los rectos es apartarse del mal; El que guarda su camino preserva su alma.

The road of the faithful turns away from sin. He who watches his way keeps his life.

18 D elante de la destrucción va el orgullo, Y delante de la caída, la arrogancia de espíritu.

Pride comes before being destroyed and a proud spirit comes before a fall.

19 M ejor es ser de espíritu humilde con los pobres Que dividir el botín con los soberbios.

It is better to be poor in spirit among poor people, than to divide the riches that were taken with the proud.

20 E l que pone atención a la palabra hallará el bien, Y el que confía en el Señor es bienaventurado.

He who listens to the Word will find good, and happy is he who trusts in the Lord.

21 E l sabio de corazón será llamado prudente, Y la dulzura de palabras aumenta la persuasión.

The wise in heart will be called understanding. And to speak in a pleasing way helps people know what you say is right.

22 E l entendimiento es fuente de vida para el que lo posee, Pero la instrucción de los necios es necedad.

Understanding is a well of life to him who has it, but to speak strong words to fools is of no use.

23 E l corazón del sabio enseña a su boca Y añade persuasión a sus labios.

The heart of the wise has power over his mouth and adds learning to his lips.

24 P anal de miel son las palabras agradables, Dulces al alma y salud para los huesos.

Pleasing words are like honey. They are sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

25 H ay camino que al hombre le parece derecho, Pero al final es camino de muerte.

There is a way that looks right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

26 E l apetito del trabajador para él trabaja, Porque su boca lo impulsa.

A workman’s hunger works for him. The need of his mouth pushes him on.

27 E l hombre indigno planea el mal, Y sus palabras son como fuego abrasador.

A man of no worth looks for wrong-doing. His words are like burning fire.

28 E l hombre perverso provoca pleitos, Y el chismoso separa a los mejores amigos.

A bad man spreads trouble. One who hurts people with bad talk separates good friends.

29 E l hombre violento provoca a su prójimo Y lo guía por camino que no es bueno.

A man who hurts people tempts his neighbor to do the same, and leads him in a way that is not good.

30 E l que guiña los ojos lo hace para tramar perversidades; El que aprieta los labios ya hizo el mal.

He who winks his eyes plans to do bad things. He who closes his lips allows sinful things to happen.

31 L a cabeza canosa es corona de gloria, Y se encuentra en el camino de la justicia.

Hair that is turning white is like a crown of honor. It is found in the way of being right with God.

32 M ejor es el lento para la ira que el poderoso, Y el que domina su espíritu que el que toma una ciudad.

He who is slow to anger is better than the powerful. And he who rules his spirit is better than he who takes a city.

33 L a suerte se echa en el regazo, Pero del Señor viene toda decisión.

Man decides by throwing an object into the lap, but it is the Lord only who decides.
