1 E n aquellos días Ezequías cayó enfermo de muerte. Y vino a él el profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz, y le dijo: “Así dice el Señor: ‘Pon tu casa en orden, porque vas a morir y no vivirás.’”

In those days Hezekiah became sick and was near death. Isaiah the man of God, the son of Amoz, came to him and said, “The Lord says, ‘Make those of your house ready, for you will die and not live.’”

2 E ntonces Ezequías volvió su rostro hacia la pared y oró al Señor:

Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord,

3 “ Te ruego, oh Señor, que Te acuerdes ahora de cómo yo he andado delante de Ti en verdad y con corazón íntegro, y he hecho lo bueno ante Tus ojos.” Y Ezequías lloró amargamente.

and said, “O Lord, I ask you from my heart to remember now how I have walked with You in truth and with a whole heart. I have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Hezekiah cried with a bitter cry.

4 E ntonces la palabra del Señor vino a Isaías:

Then the Word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying,

5 “ Ve y dile a Ezequías: ‘Así dice el Señor, Dios de tu padre David: “He escuchado tu oración y he visto tus lágrimas; voy a añadir quince años a tus días.

“Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘The Lord, the God of your father David, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. See, I will add fifteen years to your life.

6 Y te libraré a ti y a esta ciudad de la mano del rey de Asiria, y defenderé esta ciudad.”’”

And I will take you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will fight for this city.”’”

7 E sta será para ti la señal del Señor, de que el Señor hará lo que ha dicho:

“This is the special thing for you to see from the Lord, that the Lord will do what He has said:

8 “ Haré que la sombra que ha descendido con el sol en las gradas de Acaz, vuelva atrás diez grados.” Y la sombra del sol retrocedió diez grados en las gradas por las que había descendido.

See the shadow on the steps, which has gone down with the sun on the steps of Ahaz. I will make it go back ten steps.” So the sun’s shadow went back the ten steps it had gone down.

9 E ste es el escrito de Ezequías, rey de Judá, cuando enfermó y sanó de su enfermedad:

This is the writing of King Hezekiah of Judah, after he had been sick and became well again:

10 Y o dije: “A la mitad de mis días He de entrar por las puertas del Seol (región de los muertos); Se me priva del resto de mis años.”

I said, “Half-way through my life I am to go through the gates of the place of the dead. The rest of my years have been kept from me.”

11 D ije: “No veré más al Señor, Al Señor en la tierra de los vivientes. No veré más hombre alguno entre los habitantes del mundo.

I said, “I will not see the Lord, the Lord in the land of the living. I will not look upon man any more among the people of the world.

12 C omo tienda de pastor, mi morada es arrancada y alejada de mí; Como un tejedor enrollé mi vida. Del telar, El me cortó; Del día a la noche acabas conmigo.

My house is pulled up like a shepherd’s tent and taken from me. I have rolled up my life like a cloth-maker. He cuts me off from the cloth He is making. From day to night You make an end of me.

13 S osegué mi alma hasta la mañana. Como león, El rompe todos mis huesos; Del día a la noche, acabas conmigo.

I waited for help until morning. Like a lion He breaks all my bones. From day to night You make an end of me.

14 C omo una golondrina, como una grulla, así me quejo, Gimo como una paloma. Mis ojos miran ansiosamente a las alturas. Oh Señor, estoy oprimido, sé Tú mi ayudador.

I make noise like the birds. I cry like a dove. My eyes are tired from looking up. O Lord, I am having a hard time. Keep me safe.

15 ¿ Qué diré? Pues El me ha hablado y El mismo lo ha hecho. Andaré errante todos mis años a causa de la amargura de mi alma.

“But what can I say? For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it. I will walk with care all my years because my soul is bitter.

16 O h Señor, por estas cosas viven los hombres, Y en todas ellas está la vida de mi espíritu. Restabléceme la salud y haz que viva.

O Lord, by these things men live. And in all these is the life of my spirit. O heal me, and let me live!

17 P or causa de mi bienestar tuve gran amargura. Eres Tú quien ha guardado mi alma del abismo de la nada, Porque echaste tras Tus espaldas todos mis pecados.

See, it was for my own well-being that I was bitter. But You have kept my soul from the grave that destroys. You have put all my sins behind Your back.

18 P ues el Seol no Te expresa gratitud, Ni la muerte Te alaba. Los que descienden a la fosa no pueden esperar Tu fidelidad (verdad).

The place of the dead cannot thank You. Death cannot praise You. Those who go down to the grave cannot hope that You will be faithful.

19 E l que vive, el que vive es el que Te da gracias, como yo lo hago hoy. El padre cuenta a sus hijos Tu fidelidad.

It is the living who give thanks to You, as I do today. A father tells his sons about how faithful You are.

20 E l Señor me salvará; Y tocaremos mis canciones en instrumentos de cuerda Todos los días de nuestra vida en la casa del Señor.”

The Lord will save me. And we will sing my songs with harps all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.”

21 I saías había dicho: “Que tomen una masa de higos y la pongan en la llaga para que se recupere.”

Now Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs and put it on the sore, that he may get well.”

22 E ntonces Ezequías había preguntado: “¿Cuál será la señal de que subiré a la casa del Señor ?”

Then Hezekiah had said, “What is the special thing to see, that I will go up to the house of the Lord?”
