1 E n aquellos días Ezequías enfermó de muerte. Y vino a él el profeta Isaías hijo de Amoz, y le dijo: Jehová dice así: Ordena tu casa, porque morirás, y no vivirás.

In those days Hezekiah became sick and was near death. Isaiah the man of God, the son of Amoz, came to him and said, “The Lord says, ‘Make those of your house ready, for you will die and not live.’”

2 E ntonces volvió Ezequías su rostro a la pared, e hizo oración a Jehová,

Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord,

3 y dijo: Oh Jehová, te ruego que te acuerdes ahora que he andado delante de ti en verdad y con íntegro corazón, y que he hecho lo que es recto delante de tus ojos. Y lloró Ezequías con gran llanto.

and said, “O Lord, I ask you from my heart to remember now how I have walked with You in truth and with a whole heart. I have done what is good in Your eyes.” And Hezekiah cried with a bitter cry.

4 E ntonces vino palabra de Jehová a Isaías, diciendo:

Then the Word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying,

5 V e y di a Ezequías: Jehová Dios de David tu padre dice así: He oído tu oración, y visto tus lágrimas; he aquí que yo voy a añadir a tus días quince años.

“Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘The Lord, the God of your father David, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. See, I will add fifteen years to your life.

6 Y te libraré a ti y a esta ciudad, de manos del rey de Asiria; y ampararé a esta ciudad.

And I will take you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will fight for this city.”’”

7 Y esto te será por señal de parte de Jehová, que Jehová hará esto que ha dicho:

“This is the special thing for you to see from the Lord, that the Lord will do what He has said:

8 H e aquí yo haré volver atrás la sombra los diez grados que ha descendido en el reloj de sol de Acaz. Y volvió el sol diez grados atrás, por los cuales había ya descendido. Cántico de Ezequías

See the shadow on the steps, which has gone down with the sun on the steps of Ahaz. I will make it go back ten steps.” So the sun’s shadow went back the ten steps it had gone down.

9 E scritura de Ezequías rey de Judá, de cuando enfermó y sanó de su enfermedad:

This is the writing of King Hezekiah of Judah, after he had been sick and became well again:

10 Y o dije: A la mitad de mis días iré a las puertas del Seol; privado soy del resto de mis años.

I said, “Half-way through my life I am to go through the gates of the place of the dead. The rest of my years have been kept from me.”

11 D ije: No veré a JAH, a JAH en la tierra de los vivientes; ya no veré a ningún hombre con los moradores del mundo.

I said, “I will not see the Lord, the Lord in the land of the living. I will not look upon man any more among the people of the world.

12 M i morada ha sido arrancada y llevada lejos de mí, como tienda de pastor. Como tejedor he enrollado mi vida; me cortará con la enfermedad; me consumirás entre el día y la noche.

My house is pulled up like a shepherd’s tent and taken from me. I have rolled up my life like a cloth-maker. He cuts me off from the cloth He is making. From day to night You make an end of me.

13 E speraba yo pacientemente hasta el alba, pero como un león molió todos mis huesos; de la mañana a la noche me acabarás.

I waited for help until morning. Like a lion He breaks all my bones. From day to night You make an end of me.

14 C omo la grulla y como la golondrina me quejaba; gemía como la paloma; alzaba en alto mis ojos. Jehová, estoy en aprieto; ven en mi ayuda.

I make noise like the birds. I cry like a dove. My eyes are tired from looking up. O Lord, I am having a hard time. Keep me safe.

15 ¿ Qué diré? El que me lo dijo, él mismo lo ha hecho. Andaré humildemente todos mis años, a causa de aquella amargura de mi alma.

“But what can I say? For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it. I will walk with care all my years because my soul is bitter.

16 O h Señor, por todas estas cosas los hombres vivirán, y en todas ellas está la vida de mi espíritu; por lo cual, restabléceme tú, y haz que viva.

O Lord, by these things men live. And in all these is the life of my spirit. O heal me, and let me live!

17 H e aquí, amargura grande me sobrevino para mi bien, mas tú tuviste a bien librar mi vida del hoyo de corrupción; porque echaste tras tus espaldas todos mis pecados.

See, it was for my own well-being that I was bitter. But You have kept my soul from the grave that destroys. You have put all my sins behind Your back.

18 P orque el Seol no te exaltará, ni te alabará la muerte; ni pueden los que descienden al sepulcro esperar en tu verdad.

The place of the dead cannot thank You. Death cannot praise You. Those who go down to the grave cannot hope that You will be faithful.

19 E l que vive, el que vive, éste te dará alabanza, como yo hoy; el padre hará notoria tu verdad a los hijos.

It is the living who give thanks to You, as I do today. A father tells his sons about how faithful You are.

20 J ehová está dispuesto a salvarme; por tanto, cantaremos con instrumentos de cuerda en la casa de Jehová todos los días de nuestra vida.

The Lord will save me. And we will sing my songs with harps all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.”

21 Y había dicho Isaías: Que traigan un emplasto de higos, y que se lo pongan en la llaga, y sanará.

Now Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs and put it on the sore, that he may get well.”

22 H abía asimismo dicho Ezequías: ¿Qué señal tendré de que subiré a la casa de Jehová?

Then Hezekiah had said, “What is the special thing to see, that I will go up to the house of the Lord?”
