1 P edid a Jehová lluvia en la estación tardía. Jehová, el que hace los relámpagos, os dará lluvia abundante, y hierba verde en el campo a cada uno.

Ask the Lord for rain in the spring time. It is the Lord Who makes the storm clouds. He gives rain to men, and gives vegetables in the field to every one.

2 P orque las imágenes han hablado vanidad, y los adivinos han visto mentira, han hablado sueños vanos, y vano es su consuelo; por lo cual el pueblo vaga como ovejas, y sufre porque no tiene pastor.

The false gods say what is not true. Those who use their secret ways tell lies about the false dreams they have seen. Their comfort means nothing. So the people go from place to place like sheep and are troubled because they have no shepherd.

3 C ontra los pastores se ha encendido mi enojo, y castigaré a los machos cabríos; pero Jehová de los ejércitos visitará su rebaño, la casa de Judá, y los pondrá como su caballo de honor en la guerra.

“My anger burns against the shepherds, and I will punish the leaders. For the Lord of All has visited His flock, the people of Judah, and will make them like His proud horse in battle.

4 D e él saldrá la piedra angular, de él la clavija, de él el arco de guerra, de él también todos los jefes.

From them will come the cornerstone. From them will come the tent nail. From them will come the bow of battle. And from them will come every ruler.

5 Y serán como valientes que en la batalla huellan al enemigo en el lodo de las calles; y pelearán, porque Jehová estará con ellos; y los que cabalgan en caballos serán avergonzados.

Together they will be like powerful men, crushing under foot those who hate them into the mud of the streets. They will fight and win the battle against the horsemen because the Lord is with them.

6 Y o fortaleceré la casa de Judá, y daré la victoria a la casa de José, y los haré volver; porque de ellos tendré compasión, y serán como si no los hubiera desechado; porque yo soy Jehová su Dios, y los oiré.

I will give strength to the family of Judah. I will save the family of Joseph, and I will bring them back, because I have loving-pity on them. They will be as if I had not turned away from them. For I am the Lord their God, and I will answer them.

7 Y Efraín será como un valiente, y se alegrará su corazón como a causa del vino; sus hijos también verán, y se alegrarán; su corazón se gozará en Jehová.

Ephraim will be like a powerful man. Their hearts will be glad as with wine. And their children will see it and be glad. Their hearts will have joy in the Lord.

8 Y o los llamaré con un silbido, y los reuniré, porque los he redimido; y serán tan numerosos como lo fueron antes.

I will call them together, for I have saved them and set them free. And they will be as many as they were before.

9 Y aunque los esparciré entre los pueblos, con todo, se acordarán de mí en lejanos países; y vivirán con sus hijos, y volverán.

Even when I send them everywhere among the nations, they will remember Me in far countries. They and their children will live and return.

10 P orque yo los haré volver de la tierra de Egipto, y los recogeré de Asiria; y los traeré a la tierra de Galaad y del Líbano, y no habrá bastante sitio para ellos.

I will bring them back from the land of Egypt and gather them from Assyria. I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon until there is no more room for them.

11 Y él atravesará el mar de la angustia, y herirá en el mar las ondas, y se secarán todas las profundidades del río; y la soberbia de Asiria será abatida, y quedará suprimido el cetro de Egipto.

When they pass through the sea of trouble, I will hold back the waves in the sea. The whole Nile River will dry up. The pride of Assyria will be brought down, and Egypt will lose its power.

12 Y yo los fortaleceré en Jehová, y caminarán en su nombre, dice Jehová.

I will make My people Israel strong in the Lord, and they will walk in His name,” says the Lord.
