1 Y dijo Dios a Jacob: Levántate y sube a Betel, y quédate allí; y haz allí un altar al Dios que se te apareció cuando huías de tu hermano Esaú.

God said to Jacob, “Get ready and go to Bethel to live. Make an altar there to God, Who showed Himself to you when you ran away from your brother Esau.”

2 E ntonces Jacob dijo a su familia y a todos los que con él estaban: Quitad los dioses ajenos que hay entre vosotros, y limpiaos, y mudad vuestros vestidos.

So Jacob said to those of his house and all who were with him, “Put away the strange gods that are among you. Make yourselves clean and change your clothes.

3 Y levantémonos, y subamos a Betel; y haré allí altar al Dios que me respondió en el día de mi angustia, y ha estado conmigo en el camino que he andado.

Then let us get ready and go to Bethel. I will make an altar there to God, Who answered me in the day of my trouble, and was with me every place I went.”

4 A sí dieron a Jacob todos los dioses ajenos que había en poder de ellos, y los zarcillos que estaban en sus orejas; y Jacob los escondió debajo de una encina que estaba junto a Siquem.

So they gave to Jacob all the strange gods they had, and the gold objects which they wore in their ears. And Jacob hid them under the tree near Shechem.

5 Y salieron, y el terror de Dios estuvo sobre las ciudades que había en sus alrededores, y no persiguieron a los hijos de Jacob.

As they traveled, much fear from God came upon the cities around them. So the people of the land did not go against the sons of Jacob.

6 Y llegó Jacob a Luz, que está en tierra de Canaán (ésta es Betel), él y todo el pueblo que con él estaba.

So Jacob and all the people who were with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.

7 Y edificó allí un altar, y llamó al lugar El-bet-el, porque allí se le había aparecido Dios, cuando huía de su hermano.

He built an altar there, and gave the place the name El-bethel. Because God had shown Himself to him there, when Jacob ran away from his brother.

8 E ntonces murió Débora, ama de Rebeca, y fue sepultada al pie de Betel, debajo de una encina, la cual fue llamada Alón-bacut.

Then Rebekah’s nurse Deborah died. She was buried below Bethel under a tree. It was given the name of Allon-bacuth.

9 A pareció otra vez Dios a Jacob, cuando había vuelto de Padán-aram, y le bendijo.

When Jacob came from Paddan-aram, God showed Himself to him again and brought good to him.

10 Y le dijo Dios: Tu nombre es Jacob; no se llamará más tu nombre Jacob, sino Israel será tu nombre; y llamó su nombre Israel.

God said to him, “Your name is Jacob. You will not be called Jacob any longer, but Israel will be your name.” So his name was Israel.

11 T ambién le dijo Dios: Yo soy el Dios omnipotente: crece y multiplícate; una nación y conjunto de naciones procederán de ti, y reyes saldrán de tus lomos.

Then God said to him, “I am the All-powerful God. Have many children and add to your number. A nation and a group of nations will come from you. Kings will come from you.

12 L a tierra que he dado a Abraham y a Isaac, la daré a ti, y a tu descendencia después de ti daré la tierra.

I will give you the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac. This land I will give to your children and their children’s children after you.”

13 Y se fue de él Dios, del lugar en donde había hablado con él.

Then God went up from him in the place where He had spoken with him.

14 Y Jacob erigió una señal en el lugar donde había hablado con él, una señal de piedra, y derramó sobre ella libación, y echó sobre ella aceite.

Jacob set up a pillar of stone in the place where He had spoken with him. And he poured a drink offering and also oil on it.

15 Y llamó Jacob el nombre de aquel lugar donde Dios había hablado con él, Betel. Nacimiento de Benjamín y muerte de Raquel

So Jacob gave the place where God had spoken with him the name Bethel.

16 Y partieron de Betel; y había aún como media legua de tierra para llegar a Efrata, cuando dio a luz Raquel, y hubo dificultad en su parto.

Then they traveled from Bethel. When there was still a long way to go before coming to Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth. She suffered much pain.

17 Y aconteció, como había trabajo en su parto, que le dijo la partera: No temas, que también tendrás este hijo.

And while she was suffering, the woman who was helping her said to her, “Do not be afraid. For now you have another son.”

18 Y aconteció que al salírsele el alma (pues murió), llamó su nombre Benonni; mas su padre lo llamó Benjamín.

As Rachel’s soul was leaving, for she died, she gave him the name Benoni. But his father gave him the name Benjamin.

19 A sí murió Raquel, y fue sepultada en el camino de Efrata, la cual es Belén.

So Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).

20 Y levantó Jacob pilar sobre su sepultura; esta es la señal de la sepultura de Raquel hasta hoy.

Jacob set up a stone on her grave. And that is the stone of Rachel’s grave to this day.

21 Y salió Israel, y plantó su tienda más allá de Migdal-eder. Los hijos de Jacob

Then Israel traveled on, and put up his tent on the other side of the tall building of Eder.

22 A conteció que cuando moraba Israel en aquella tierra, fue Rubén y durmió con Bilha la concubina de su padre; lo cual llegó a saber Israel. Ahora bien, los hijos de Israel fueron doce:

While Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, the woman who acted as his father’s wife. And Israel heard about it. The Sons of Jacob There were twelve sons of Jacob.

23 l os hijos de Lea: Rubén el primogénito de Jacob; Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar y Zabulón.

The sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s first-born, then Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

24 L os hijos de Raquel: José y Benjamín.

The sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin.

25 L os hijos de Bilha, sierva de Raquel: Dan y Neftalí.

The sons of Bilhah, the woman who served Rachel, were Dan and Naphtali.

26 Y los hijos de Zilpa, sierva de Lea: Gad y Aser. Éstos fueron los hijos de Jacob, que le nacieron en Padán-aram. Muerte de Isaac

The sons of Zilpah, the woman who served Leah, were Gad and Asher. These are the sons who were born to Jacob in Paddan-aram. The Death of Isaac

27 D espués vino Jacob a Isaac su padre a Mamré, a la ciudad de Arbá, que es Hebrón, donde habitaron Abraham e Isaac.

Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre of Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had been living.

28 Y fueron los días de Isaac ciento ochenta años.

Now Isaac had lived 180 years.

29 Y exhaló Isaac el espíritu, y murió, y fue recogido a su pueblo, viejo y lleno de días; y lo sepultaron Esaú y Jacob sus hijos.

And Isaac breathed his last and died, and was joined to his people who died before him. He was an old man who had a long life, and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
