1 P erëndia i tha Jakobit: "Çohu, ngjitu në Bethel dhe vendosu aty; dhe bëj aty një altar Perëndisë që t’u shfaq, kur ikje para vëllait tënd Esau".

God said to Jacob, “Get ready and go to Bethel to live. Make an altar there to God, Who showed Himself to you when you ran away from your brother Esau.”

2 A tëherë Jakobi i tha familjes së tij dhe gjithë atyre që ishin me të: Hiqni nga rrethi juaj perënditë e huaja, pastrohuni dhe ndërroni rrobatt tuaja;

So Jacob said to those of his house and all who were with him, “Put away the strange gods that are among you. Make yourselves clean and change your clothes.

3 p astaj të ngrihemi dhe të shkojmë në Bethel, dhe unë do t’i bëj një altar Perëndisë që plotësoi dëshirën time ditën e fatkeqësisë sime dhe që më shoqëroi në udhëtimin që kam bërë".

Then let us get ready and go to Bethel. I will make an altar there to God, Who answered me in the day of my trouble, and was with me every place I went.”

4 A tëherë ata i dhanë Jakobit tërë perënditë e huaja që kishin dhe varëset që mbanin në veshë; dhe Jakobi i fshehu nën lisin që ndodhet pranë Sikemit.

So they gave to Jacob all the strange gods they had, and the gold objects which they wore in their ears. And Jacob hid them under the tree near Shechem.

5 P astaj ata u nisën dhe tmerri i Perëndisë ra mbi të gjitha qytetet rreth tyre, kështu që nuk i ndoqën bijtë e Jakobit.

As they traveled, much fear from God came upon the cities around them. So the people of the land did not go against the sons of Jacob.

6 K ështu Jakobi arriti në Luc, domethënë në Bethel, që ndodhet në vendin e Kanaanit; erdhi aty me të gjithë njerëzit që ishin me të.

So Jacob and all the people who were with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.

7 D he aty ndërtoi një altar dhe këtë vend e quajti El-Bethel, sepse aty i qe çfaqur Perëndia kur po ikte para vëllait të tij.

He built an altar there, and gave the place the name El-bethel. Because God had shown Himself to him there, when Jacob ran away from his brother.

8 A tëherë vdiq Debora, taja e Rebekës, dhe e varrosën poshtë Bethelit, në këmbët e lisit që u quajt Alon-Bakuth.

Then Rebekah’s nurse Deborah died. She was buried below Bethel under a tree. It was given the name of Allon-bacuth.

9 P erëndia iu shfaq përsëri Jakobit, kur ky po vinte nga Padam-Arami dhe e bekoi.

When Jacob came from Paddan-aram, God showed Himself to him again and brought good to him.

10 D he Perëndia i tha: "Emri yt është Jakob; ti nuk do të quhesh më Jakob, por emri yt do të jetë Izrael". Dhe i vuri emrin Izrael.

God said to him, “Your name is Jacob. You will not be called Jacob any longer, but Israel will be your name.” So his name was Israel.

11 P astaj Perëndia i tha: "Unë jam Perëndia i Plotfuqishëm; ti bëhu i frytshëm dhe shumëzo; një komb, madje një tërësi kombesh do të rrjedhin prej teje, dhe disa mbretër kanë për të dalë nga ijët e tua;

Then God said to him, “I am the All-powerful God. Have many children and add to your number. A nation and a group of nations will come from you. Kings will come from you.

12 d he do të të jap ty dhe pasardhësve të tu pas teje vendin që i dhashë Abrahamit dhe Isakut".

I will give you the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac. This land I will give to your children and their children’s children after you.”

13 P astaj Perëndia u ngjit më lart nga ai, nga vendi ku i kishte folur.

Then God went up from him in the place where He had spoken with him.

14 A tëherë Jakobi ndërtoi një përmendore, një përmendore prej guri, në vendin ku Perëndia i kishte folur; mbi të hodhi pak verë dhe derdhi ca vaj sipër.

Jacob set up a pillar of stone in the place where He had spoken with him. And he poured a drink offering and also oil on it.

15 D he Jakobi e quajti Bethel vendin ku Perëndia i kishte folur.

So Jacob gave the place where God had spoken with him the name Bethel.

16 P astaj u nisën nga Betheli; kishte edhe një copë rrugë për të arritur në Efratë, kur Rakela lindi. Ajo pati një lindje të vështirë;

Then they traveled from Bethel. When there was still a long way to go before coming to Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth. She suffered much pain.

17 d he gjatë lindjes së vështirë mamia i tha: "Mos ki frikë, sepse edhe këtë herë ke një djalë".

And while she was suffering, the woman who was helping her said to her, “Do not be afraid. For now you have another son.”

18 D he ndërsa shpirti po e linte (sepse vdiq), i vuri emrin Ben-Oni, por i ati e quajti Beniamin.

As Rachel’s soul was leaving, for she died, she gave him the name Benoni. But his father gave him the name Benjamin.

19 K ështu Rakela vdiq dhe u varros në rrugën e Efratës (domethënë të Betlemit).

So Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).

20 D he Jakobi ngriti mbi varrin e saj një përmendore. Dhe kjo përmendore ekziston ende sot e kësaj dite mbi varrin e Rakelës.

Jacob set up a stone on her grave. And that is the stone of Rachel’s grave to this day.

21 P astaj Izraeli u nis dhe ngriti çadrën përtej Migdal-Ederit.

Then Israel traveled on, and put up his tent on the other side of the tall building of Eder.

22 D he ndodhi që, ndërsa Izraeli banonte në atë vend, Rubeni shkoi e ra në shtrat me Bilbah, konkubinën e atit të tij. Dhe Izraeli e mori vesh.

While Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, the woman who acted as his father’s wife. And Israel heard about it. The Sons of Jacob There were twelve sons of Jacob.

23 B ijtë e Jakobit ishin dymbëdhjetë. Bijtë e Leas ishin: Rubeni, i parëlinduri i Jakobit, Simeoni, Levi, Juda, Isakari dhe Zabuloni.

The sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s first-born, then Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

24 B ijtë e Rakelës ishin: Jozefi dhe Beniamini.

The sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin.

25 B ijtë e Bilhahut, shërbëtorja e Rakelës, ishin: Dani dhe Neftali.

The sons of Bilhah, the woman who served Rachel, were Dan and Naphtali.

26 B ijtë e Zilpahës, shërbëtorja e Leas, ishin: Gadi dhe Asheri. Këta janë bijtë e Jakobit që i lindën në Padan-Aram.

The sons of Zilpah, the woman who served Leah, were Gad and Asher. These are the sons who were born to Jacob in Paddan-aram. The Death of Isaac

27 P astaj Jakobi erdhi tek Isaku, i ati, në Marme, në Kirjath-Arba (domethënë në Hebron), ku Abrahami dhe Isaku kishin qëndruar ca kohë.

Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre of Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had been living.

28 I saku jetoi njëqind e tetëdhjetë vjet.

Now Isaac had lived 180 years.

29 K ështu Isaku dha shpirt, vdiq dhe u bashkua me popullin e tij, ishte i plakur dhe i ngopur me ditë; dhe Esau dhe Jakobi, bijtë e tij, e varrosën.

And Isaac breathed his last and died, and was joined to his people who died before him. He was an old man who had a long life, and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
