1 Z oti i tha Samuelit: "Deri kur do të mbash zi për Saulin, kurse unë e kam hedhur poshtë që mos mbretërojë mbi Izrael? Mbushe me vaj bririn tënd dhe nisu; po të dërgoj tek Isai, Betlemiti, sepse kam zgjedhur një mbret midis bijve të tij".

The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you be filled with sorrow because of Saul, since I have turned away from him being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse of Bethlehem. For I have chosen a king for Myself among his sons.”

2 S amueli u përgjigj: "Si mund të shkoj? Sauli ka për ta mësuar dhe do të më vrasë". Zoti tha: "Do të marësh me vete një mëshqerre dhe do të thuash: Kam ardhur për t’i ofruar një flijim Zotitt".

But Samuel said, “How can I go? Saul will kill me when he hears about it.” The Lord said, “Take a young cow with you, and say, ‘I have come to give a gift to the Lord.’

3 D o të ftosh Isain në ceremoninë e flijimit, unë do të të tregoj atë që duhet të bësh, dhe ti ke për të vajosur atë që do të të them unë".

Ask Jesse to come when you give the gift, and I will show you what you should do. You will choose for Me the one I name to you.”

4 K ështu Samueli bëri atë që i kishte thënë Zoti dhe shkoi në Betlem; pleqtë e qytetit i dolën përpara duke u dridhur dhe i thanë: "Po na vjen në mënyrë paqësore?".

So Samuel did what the Lord said, and came to Bethlehem. The leaders of the city came shaking with fear to meet him. They said, “Do you come in peace?”

5 A i u përgjegj "Vij në mënyrë paqësore; kam ardhur për t’i ofruar një flijim Zotit; pastrohuni dhe ejani me mua në flijim". Vuri të pastrohen edhe Isain dhe bijtë e tij dhe i ftoi në flijim.

Samuel said, “I have come in peace to give a gift to the Lord. Make yourselves holy and come with me as I give the gift.” He set apart Jesse and his sons also, and asked them to come to the gift-giving.

6 K ur ata arritën, ai ia vuri syrin Eliabit dhe tha: "Me siguri i vajosuri i Zotit është para tij".

When they had come, Samuel looked at Eliab and thought, “For sure he is the Lord’s chosen one who is standing before Him.”

7 P or Zoti i tha Samuelit: "Mos ia shiko as pamjen as shtatgjatësinë, sepse unë e kam refuzuar, sepse Zoti nuk shikon si shikon njeriu, njeriu shikon pamjen, kurse Zoti shikon zemrën".

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at the way he looks on the outside or how tall he is, because I have not chosen him. For the Lord does not look at the things man looks at. A man looks at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

8 A tëherë Isai thirri Abinadabin dhe e bëri të kalojë përpara Samuelit; por Samueli tha: "Zoti nuk zgjodhi as këtë".

Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one.”

9 P astaj Isai bëri të kalojë Shamahu, por Samueli tha: "Zoti nuk zgjodhi as këtë".

Next Jesse made Shammah pass by. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one.”

10 K ështu Isai bëri të kalojnë shtatë nga bijtë e tij përpara Samuelit; por Samueli i tha Isait: "Zoti nuk zgjodhi asnjë prej tyre".

Jesse made seven of his sons pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen these.”

11 P astaj Samueli i tha Isait: "A janë këtu tërë bijtë e tu?". Ai u përgjigj: "Mungon më i riu që tani është duke kullotur delet". Samueli i tha Isait: "Dërgo ta sjellin, sepse nuk do të shtrohemi në tryezë para se ai të vijë këtu".

Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are these all the children?” And Jesse said, “There is yet the youngest one. See, he is taking care of the sheep.” Samuel said to Jesse, “Send for him. We will not sit down until he comes here.”

12 A tëherë ai dërgoi njerëz ta marrin. Davidi ishte kuqalash, me sy të bukur dhe pamje të hijshme. Dhe Zoti tha: "Ngrihu, vajose se ai është".

So he sent for him and brought him in. His youngest son had good color in his skin, beautiful eyes and was good-looking. The Lord said, “Rise up and choose him. For this is the one.”

13 A tëherë Samueli mori bririn e vajit dhe e vajosi para vëllezërve të tij; që nga ajo ditë Fryma e Zotit zbriti te Davidi. Pastaj Samueli u ngrit dhe shkoi në Ramah.

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and poured the oil on him in front of his brothers. The Spirit of the Lord came upon David with strength from that day on. And Samuel got up and went to Ramah. Saul’s Spirit Is Troubled

14 F ryma e Zotit ishte larguar nga Sauli dhe një frym i keq e terrorizonte nga ana e Zotit.

Now the Spirit of the Lord left Saul. And a bad spirit sent from the Lord brought trouble upon him.

15 S hërbëtorët e Saulit i thanë "Ja, një frym i keq të shqetëson nga ana e Perëndisë.

Saul’s servants said to him, “See, a bad spirit from God is bringing you trouble.

16 Z oti ynë të urdhërojë, pra, që shërbëtorët e tu që rrinë përpara teje të gjejnë një njeri që i bie mirë harpës; kur pastaj fryma e keq nga ana e Perëndisë do të të zotërojë, ai do t’i bjerë harpës dhe ti do ta ndjesh veten mirë".

Let our lord now tell your servants who are in front of you to look for a man who is a good player of the harp. When the bad spirit sent from God is upon you, he will play the harp, and you will be well.”

17 S auli u tha shërbëtorëve të tij: "Më gjeni një njeri që i bie mirë dhe ma sillni".

So Saul said to his servants, “Find me a man who can play well, and bring him to me.”

18 A tëherë një nga shërbëtorët filloi të thotë: Ja, unë pashë një nga bijtë e Isait, Betlemitit, që i bie mirë dhe që është një njeri i fortë dhe trim, i shkathët në luftim, gojëtar i hijshëm; dhe Zoti është me të".

One of the young men said, “I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who plays music well. He is a man with strength of heart, a man of war, wise in his speaking, and good-looking. And the Lord is with him.”

19 S auli, pra, i dërgoi lajmëtarë Isait për t’i thënë: "Më dërgo birin tënd Davidin, që është me kopenë".

So Saul sent men with news to Jesse, and said, “Send me your son David who is with the sheep.”

20 A tëherë Isai mori një gomar të ngarkuar me bukë, një calik me verë, një kec dhe ia dërgoi Saulit me anë të Davidit, birit të tij.

Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a bottle of wine, and a young goat, and sent them to Saul with David his son.

21 D avidi arriti te Sauli dhe hyri në shërbim të tij; Saulit i hyri në zemër dhe e bëri shqyrtar të tij.

David came to Saul and served him. Saul loved him very much, and he became the man who carried Saul’s battle-clothes.

22 S auli dërgoi pastaj t’i thonë Isait: "Të lutem, lëre Davidin në shërbimin tim, sepse ai gëzon hirin tim".

Saul sent word to Jesse, saying, “Let David serve me, for he has found favor in my eyes.”

23 K ur fryma e keq nga ana e Perëndisë sundonte mbi Saulin, Davidi merrte harpën dhe i binte; atëherë Sauli e ndjente veten të qetësuar dhe më mirë dhe fryma e keqe largohej prej tij.

When the bad spirit sent from God came upon Saul, David would take the harp and play it with his hand. And Saul would receive new strength and be well. The bad spirit would leave him.
