Saul thought it was all right that Stephen was killed. On that day people started to work very hard against the church in Jerusalem. All the followers, except the missionaries, were made to leave. They went to parts of the countries of Judea and Samaria.

2 D isa njerëz të përshpirtshëm e varrosën Stefanin dhe bënë gjëmë të madhe për të.

Good men put Stephen in a grave. There was much sorrow because of him.

3 P or Sauli po shkatërronte kishën: hynte shtëpi më shtëpi, merrte me vete burra dhe gra dhe i fuste në burg.

During this time Saul was making it very hard for the church. He went into every house of the followers of Jesus and took men and women and put them in prison. Philip Preaches in Samaria

4 A ta, pra, që ishin shpërndarë shkonin rreth e përqark, duke shpallur fjalën.

Those who had been made to go to other places preached the Word as they went.

5 D he Filipi zbriti në qytetin e Samarisë dhe u predikoi atyre Krishtin.

Philip went down to a city in Samaria and preached about Christ.

6 D he turmat, me një mendje të vetme, dëgjonin me vëmendje gjërat që thoshte Filipi, duke dëgjuar dhe duke parë mrekullitë që ai bënte.

The people all listened to what Philip said. As they listened, they watched him do powerful works.

7 F rymëra të ndyra, pra, dilnin nga shumë të idemonizuar, duke bërtitur me zë të lartë; dhe shumë të paralizuar e të çalë shëroheshin.

There were many people who had demons in their bodies. The demons cried with loud voices when they went out of the people. Many of the people could not move their bodies or arms and legs. They were all healed.

8 D he në atë qytet u bë gëzim i madh.

There was much joy in that city. Simon the Witch Doctor

9 P rej kohësh në atë qytet ishte një njeri që quhej Simon, i cili merrej me magji dhe i bënte të çuditeshin njerëzit e Samarisë, gjoja sikur ishte njeri i madh.

A man by the name of Simon had done witchcraft there. The people of Samaria were surprised at the things he did. He pretended that he was a great man.

10 D he të gjithë, nga më i madhi te më i vogli, ia vinin veshin, duke thënë: “Ky është fuqia e madhe e Perëndisë.”

All the people watched and listened to him. They said, “This man must be that great power of God.”

11 D he e dëgjonin, sepse prej një kohe të gjatë ai i kishte mahnitur me mjeshtrinë e tij prej magjistari.

They kept running after him. For a long time he fooled them with his witchcraft.

12 P or, kur i besuan Filipit, që shpalli lajmin e mirë të gjërave të mbretërisë së Perëndisë dhe emrin e Jezu Krishtit, burra dhe gra u pagëzuan.

Philip told the Good News of the holy nation of God and of Jesus Christ. Both men and women put their trust in Christ and were baptized.

13 B esoi edhe Simoni dhe, mbasi u pagëzua, rrinte vazhdimisht me Filipin; dhe, duke parë veprat e fuqishme dhe shenjat që ishin bërë, mbeti i çuditur.

Even Simon believed in Christ and was baptized. He went along with Philip everywhere. He was surprised when he saw the powerful works that were being done.

14 P or kur apostujt dëgjuan në Jeruzalem se Samaria kishte pranuar fjalën e Perëndisë, i dërguan atyre Pjetrin dhe Gjonin.

The missionaries in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had received the Word of God. They sent Peter and John to them.

15 K ur këta arritën, u lutën për ta, që të merrnin Frymën e Shenjtë,

When Peter and John got there, they prayed that the new followers might receive the Holy Spirit.

16 s epse ende nuk kishte zbritur mbi asnjë prej tyre, por ata vetëm ishin pagëzuar në emër të Zotit Jezus.

He had not yet come on any of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

17 A tëherë vunë duart mbi ta dhe ata morën Frymën e Shenjtë.

They laid their hands on them and the followers received the Holy Spirit.

18 D he Simoni, kur pa se me vënien e duarve të apostujve jepej Fryma e Shenjtë, u ofroi atyre para,

When Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given when the missionaries laid their hands on the people, he wanted to give money to the missionaries.

19 d uke thënë: “Ma jepni edhe mua këtë pushtet, që ai të cilit do t’i vë duart, të marrë Frymën e Shenjtë.”

He said, “Let me also have this power. Then I can give the Holy Spirit to anyone I lay my hands on.”

20 P or Pjetri i tha: “Le të humbasë paraja jote dhe ti bashkë me të, sepse ti mendove se mund ta blesh me para dhuratën e Perëndisë.

Peter said to him, “May your money be destroyed with you because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!

21 T i nuk ke as pjesë as short në këtë gjë, sepse zemra jote nuk është e drejtë përpara Perëndisë.

You have no part or place in this work. Your heart is not right in God’s sight.

22 P endohu, pra, për këtë ligësi që ke dhe lutju Perëndisë që, po të jetë e mundur, të të falet mendimi i zemrës sate.

You must be sorry for this sin of yours and turn from it. Pray to the Lord that He will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.

23 S epse unë të shoh se je në vrerin e hidhësisë dhe në prangat e paudhësisë.”

I see that you are full of jealousy and chained by your sin.”

24 D he Simoni, duke u përgjigjur, tha: “Lutjuni ju Zotit për mua, që të mos më ndodhë asgjë nga ato që thatë.”

Simon said, “Pray to the Lord for me that nothing you have said will come to me.”

25 A ta, pra, pasi dhanë dëshmi dhe predikuan fjalën e Zotit, u kthyen në Jeruzalem, mbasi ungjillzuan shumë fshatra të Samaritanëve.

Peter and John went back to Jerusalem after telling what they had seen and heard. They had preached the Word of the Lord also. On the way they preached the Good News in many other towns in the country of Samaria. Philip and the Man from Ethiopia

26 D he një engjëll i Zotit i foli Filipit, duke i thënë: “Çohu dhe shko drejt jugut, në rrugën që nga Jeruzalemi zbret në Gaza; ajo është e shkretë.”

An angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, “Get up and go south. Take the road that goes down from Jerusalem to the country of Gaza. It goes through the desert.”

27 A i u ngrit dhe u nis; dhe ja, një njeri Etiopas, eunuk, një zyrtar i lartë i Kandaces, mbretëreshës së Etiopisë, përgjegjës i të gjitha thesareve të saj, i cili kishte ardhur në Jeruzalem për të adhuruar.

Philip got up and went. A man from the country of Ethiopia had come to Jerusalem to worship. He had been made so he could not have children. He cared for all the riches that belonged to Candace who was Queen of Ethiopia.

28 T ani ai po kthehej dhe, i ulur në karrocën e vet, lexonte profetin Isaia.

As he was going back home, he was sitting in his wagon reading about the early preacher Isaiah.

29 D he Fryma i tha Filipit: “Afrohu dhe arrije atë karrocë!.”

The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to that wagon and get on it.”

30 F ilipi iu turr afër dhe, duke dëgjuar se po lexonte profetin Isaia, i tha: “A e kupton atë që lexon?.”

Philip ran up to him. He saw that the man from Ethiopia was reading from the writings of the early preacher Isaiah and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

31 A i tha: “E si do të mundja, po s’pata një që të më udhëzojë?.” Pastaj iu lut Filipit të hipë dhe të ulet pranë tij.

The man from Ethiopia said, “How can I, unless someone teaches me?” Then he asked Philip to come up and sit beside him.

32 P or pjesa e Shkrimit që ai po lexonte ishte kjo: “Atë e çuan si delja në thertore; dhe ashtu si qengji është memec përpara qethtarit, kështu ai nuk e hapi gojën e vet.

He was reading the part in the Holy Writings which says He was taken like a lamb to be put to death. A sheep does not make a sound while its wool is cut. So He made no sound.

33 N ë përuljen e tij iu mohua çfarëdolloj drejtësie; po kush do të mund ta përshkruajë brezin e tij? Sepse jeta e tij u hoq nga toka.”

No one listened to Him because of His shame. Who will tell the story of His day? For His life was taken away from the earth.

34 D he eunuku iu kthye Filipit dhe tha: “Të lutem, për kë e thotë profeti këtë? Për veten e vet apo për ndonjë tjetër?.”

The man from Ethiopia said to Philip, “Who is the early preacher talking about, himself, or someone else?”

35 A tëherë e mori fjalën Filipi dhe, duke filluar nga ky Shkrim, i shpalli Jezusin.

So Philip started with this part of the Holy Writings and preached the Good News of Jesus to him.

36 D he, ndërsa po vazhdonin rrugën, arritën në një vend me ujë. Dhe eunuku tha: “Ja uji! Çfarë më pengon të pagëzohem?.”

As they went on their way, they came to some water. The man from Ethiopia said, “See! Here is water. What is to stop me from being baptized?”

37 D he Filipi tha: “Nëse ti beson me gjithë zemër, mund ta bësh.” Dhe ai u përgjigj duke thënë: “Unë besoj se Jezu Krishti është Biri i Perëndisë.”

(Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” The man said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”)

38 U rdhëroi atëherë të ndalet karroca, dhe të dy, Filipi dhe eunuku, zbritën në ujë dhe ai e pagëzoi.

He stopped the wagon. Then both Philip and the man from Ethiopia went down into the water and Philip baptized him.

39 K ur dolën nga uji, Fryma e Zotit e rrëmbeu Filipin dhe eunuku nuk e pa më; por e vazhdoi rrugën e tij me plot gëzim.

When they came up out of the water, the Holy Spirit took Philip away. The man from Ethiopia did not see Philip again. He went on his way full of joy.

40 P or Filipi u gjet në Azot; dhe, duke vazhduar, ungjillëzoi të gjitha qytetet, derisa arriti në Cezare.

Philip found himself at the city of Azotus. Then Philip went through all the towns as far as the city of Caesarea preaching the Good News at each place.
