1 A conteció poco después, que él comenzó a recorrer una por una las ciudades y las aldeas, proclamando y predicando el reino de Dios; le acompañaban los doce,

After this Jesus went to all the cities and towns preaching and telling the Good News about the holy nation of God. The twelve followers were with Him.

2 y algunas mujeres que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malignos y de enfermedades; María la llamada Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios,

Some women who had been healed of demons and diseases were with Him. Mary Magdalene, who had had seven demons put out of her, was one of them.

3 J uana la mujer de Cuzá, que era un administrador de Herodes, Susana y otras muchas que les asistían de sus propios bienes. Parábola del sembrador

Joanna, the wife of Chuza who was one of Herod’s helpers, was another one. Susanna and many others also cared for Jesus by using what they had. The Picture-Story of the Man Who Planted Seed

4 A l reunirse un gran gentío, y los que de cada ciudad acudían hacia él, dijo por parábola:

Many people came together from every town to Jesus. He told them a picture-story.

5 S alió el sembrador a sembrar su semilla; y al sembrar él, parte cayó a lo largo del sendero, y fue pisoteada, y las aves del cielo la devoraron.

“A man went out to plant seed. As he planted the seed, some fell by the side of the road. It was walked on and birds came and ate it.

6 O tra parte cayó sobre la roca, y después de nacer, se secó, por no tener humedad.

Some seed fell between rocks. As soon as it started to grow, it dried up because it had no water.

7 O tra parte cayó en medio de abrojos, y al nacer los abrojos juntamente con ella, la ahogaron.

Some seed fell among thorns. The thorns grew and did not give the seed room to grow.

8 Y otra cayó en tierra de la buena, y nació y llevó fruto a ciento por uno. Al decir estas cosas, exclamaba: El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga.

Some seed fell on good ground. It grew and gave one hundred times as much grain.” When Jesus had finished saying this, He cried out, “You have ears, then listen!”

9 L e preguntaban sus discípulos, diciendo: ¿Qué significa esta parábola?

His followers asked Him what this picture-story meant.

10 Y él dijo: A vosotros se os ha concedido el conocer los misterios del reino de Dios; pero a los demás, en parábolas, para que viendo, no vean; y oyendo, no entiendan.

Jesus said, “You were given the secrets about the holy nation of God. Others are told picture-stories. As they look, they do not see. As they hear, they do not understand. Jesus Tells about the Man Who Planted Seed

11 A hora bien, la parábola quiere decir esto: La semilla es la palabra de Dios.

“This is what the picture-story means. The seed is the Word of God.

12 L os de a lo largo del sendero son los que han oído; luego viene el diablo y quita de sus corazones la palabra, para que no crean ni se salven.

Those by the side of the road hear the Word. Then the devil comes and takes the Word from their hearts. He does not want them to believe and be saved from the punishment of sin.

13 L os de sobre la roca son los que, habiendo oído, reciben con gozo la palabra; pero no tienen raíz éstos que por algún tiempo van creyendo, pero en la hora de la prueba desisten.

Those which fell among rocks are those who when they hear the Word receive it with joy. These have no root. For awhile they believe, but when they are tempted they give up.

14 L o que cayó entre los abrojos, éstos son los que han oído, pero a lo largo de su caminar son ahogados por las preocupaciones, las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y no dan fruto maduro.

Those which fell among thorns hear the Word but go their own way. The cares of this life let the thorns grow. A love for money lets the thorns grow also. And the fun of this life lets the thorns grow. Their grain never becomes full-grown.

15 P ero lo que cayó en tierra buena, éstos son los que, después de haber oído la palabra con corazón bueno y recto, la retienen, y dan fruto por su constancia. Nada oculto que no haya de ser manifestado

But those which fell on good ground have heard the Word. They keep it in a good and true heart and they keep on giving good grain. The Picture-Story of the Lamp

16 N adie que enciende una lámpara la cubre con una vasija, o la pone debajo de una cama, sino que la pone sobre un candelero, para que los que entran vean la luz.

“No man lights a lamp and puts it under a pail or under a bed. He puts it on a lamp-stand so all who come into the room may see it.

17 P ues no hay nada oculto que no haya de ser manifestado, ni escondido que no haya de ser bien conocido y salir a plena luz.

Nothing is secret but what will be known. Anything that is hidden will be brought into the light.

18 M irad, pues, cómo escucháis; porque a cualquiera que tenga, se le dará; pero a cualquiera que no tenga, hasta lo que le parece tener, le será quitado. La madre y los hermanos de Jesucristo

Be careful how you listen! Whoever has, to him will be given. Whoever does not have, even the little he has will be taken from him.” The New Kind of Family

19 S e presentaron donde él estaba su madre y sus hermanos, pero no podían llegar hasta él a causa del gentío.

The mother of Jesus and His brothers came to Him. They could not get near Him because of so many people.

20 Y se le informó, diciendo: Tu madre y tus hermanos están fuera y quieren verte.

Someone said to Jesus, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside. They want to see You.”

21 P ero él respondió y les dijo: Mi madre y mis hermanos son éstos que oyen la palabra de Dios y la ponen en práctica. Jesucristo calma la tempestad

Jesus said to them, “My mother and brothers are these who hear the Word of God and do it.” The Wind and Waves Obey Jesus

22 A conteció un día, que entró en una barca él y sus discípulos, y les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado del lago. Y se hicieron a la mar.

On one of those days Jesus and His followers got into a boat. Jesus said to them, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” Then they pushed out into the water.

23 P ero mientras ellos navegaban, se durmió; y se abatió sobre el lago una tempestad de viento; y comenzaron a anegarse y a peligrar.

As they were going, Jesus fell asleep. A wind storm came over the lake. The boat was filling with water and they were in danger.

24 E ntonces se acercaron a él y le despertaron, diciendo: ¡Maestro, Maestro, que perecemos! Él se despertó, increpó al viento y al oleaje del mar; cesaron, y sobrevino la calma.

The followers came to awake Jesus. They said, “Teacher! Teacher! We are going to die!” Then Jesus got up and spoke sharp words to the wind and the high waves. The wind stopped blowing and there were no more waves.

25 Y les dijo: ¿Dónde está vuestra fe? Ellos, llenos de temor, se decían asombrados unos a otros: ¿Pues quién es éste, que aun a los vientos y al agua manda, y le obedecen? El endemoniado gadareno

He said to them, “Where is your faith?” The followers were surprised and afraid. They said to each other, “What kind of a man is He? He speaks to the wind and the waves and they obey Him.” Demons Ask Jesus to Let Them Live in Pigs

26 N avegaron hacia la región de los gadarenos, que está en la ribera opuesta de Galilea.

They came to the land of the Gadarenes, which is on the other side of the country of Galilee.

27 A l salir él a tierra, vino a su encuentro cierto hombre de la ciudad, endemoniado desde hacía mucho tiempo; y no iba vestido de ropa alguna, ni vivía en una casa, sino entre las tumbas.

As Jesus stepped out on land, a man met Him who had come from the city. This man had demons in him. For a long time he had worn no clothes. He did not live in a house, but lived among the graves.

28 A l ver a Jesús, lanzó un grito, cayó ante él, y dijo a grandes voces: ¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? Te ruego que no me atormentes.

When he saw Jesus, he got down before Him and cried with a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High? I beg of You not to hurt me!”

29 ( Pues estaba conminando al espíritu inmundo a que saliera del hombre, porque se había apoderado de él muchas veces. Le ataban con cadenas y grillos, teniéndolo bajo custodia, pero rompía las ataduras y era impelido por el demonio hacia los lugares solitarios.)

For Jesus had spoken to the demon to come out of the man. Many times the demon had taken hold of him. The man had to be tied with chains. But he would break the chains and be taken by the demon into the desert.

30 J esús le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Cuál es tu nombre? Él dijo: Legión; porque habían entrado muchos demonios en él.

Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And the demon answered, “Many,” because many demons had gone into him.

31 Y le suplicaban que no les ordenara marcharse al abismo.

The demons asked Jesus not to send them to the hole without a bottom in the earth.

32 H abía allí una piara de bastantes cerdos paciendo en el monte; y le suplicaban que les permitiera entrar en ellos; y se lo permitió.

There were many pigs feeding on the side of the mountain. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs. Jesus said they could.

33 S alieron del hombre los demonios, y entraron en los puercos; y se lanzó la piara por el precipicio al lago, y se ahogaron.

The demons came out of the man and went into the pigs. Then the many pigs ran down the side of the mountain into the water and died.

34 C uando los que los apacentaban vieron lo sucedido, huyeron y lo contaron por la ciudad y por los campos.

The men who cared for the pigs ran fast and told what had happened in the town and in the country.

35 S alieron entonces a ver lo que había sucedido, y vinieron a Jesús, y hallaron sentado al hombre del que habían salido los demonios, ya vestido y en su sano juicio, a los pies de Jesús; y se llenaron de temor.

People came to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and saw the man from whom the demons had been sent. He was sitting at the feet of Jesus with clothes on and had the right use of his mind. The people were afraid.

36 L os que lo habían visto, les contaron cómo había sido sanado el endemoniado.

Those who had seen it told how the man who had had the demons was healed.

37 E ntonces, toda la gente de la región circunvecina de los gadarenos le pidió que se marchara de ellos, porque estaban sobrecogidos de un gran temor. Él, entrando en la barca, regresó.

Then all the people of the country of the Gadarenes begged Jesus to go away from them. They were very much afraid. Jesus got into the boat and went back to the other side.

38 E l hombre del que habían salido los demonios le pedía estar con él; pero Jesús le despidió, diciendo:

The man out of whom the demons had gone begged to go with Jesus. But Jesus sent him away and said,

39 V uélvete a tu casa y cuenta cuán grandes cosas ha hecho Dios contigo. Y él fue, proclamando por toda la ciudad cuán grandes cosas había hecho Jesús con él. La hija de Jairo, y la mujer que tocó el manto de Jesucristo

“Go back to your house and tell everything God has done for you.” He went back and told all the people of the city what great things Jesus had done for him. Two Were Healed through Faith

40 C uando Jesús regresó, le dio la bienvenida la multitud, porque todos le esperaban.

Many people were glad to see Jesus when He got back. They were waiting for Him.

41 E n esto, vino un hombre llamado Jairo, que era un jefe de la sinagoga; y cayendo a los pies de Jesús, le suplicaba que entrara en su casa;

A man named Jairus was a leader of the Jewish place of worship. As he came to Jesus, he got down at His feet. He asked Jesus if He would come to his house.

42 p orque tenía una hija única, de unos doce años, que se estaba muriendo. Pero mientras él iba, la muchedumbre le apretujaba.

He had only one daughter and she was dying. This girl was about twelve years old. As Jesus went, the people pushed Him from every side.

43 E n esto, una mujer que padecía de una hemorragia desde hacía doce años, y que había gastado en médicos todo cuanto tenía y no había podido ser curada por nadie,

A woman had been sick for twelve years with a flow of blood. (She had spent all the money she had on doctors.) But she could not be healed by anyone.

44 s e acercó por detrás y tocó el borde de su manto; y al instante se detuvo su hemorragia.

She came behind Jesus and touched the bottom of His coat. At once the flow of blood stopped.

45 Y Jesús dijo: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado? Y como todos lo negaban, dijo Pedro y los que con él estaban: Maestro, las multitudes te están apretando y estrujando, y dices: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado?

Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” Everyone said that they had not touched Him. Peter said, “Teacher, so many people are pushing You from every side and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’”

46 P ero Jesús dijo: Alguien me ha tocado, porque yo he notado que ha salido de mí un poder.

Then Jesus said, “Someone touched Me because I know power has gone from Me.”

47 V iendo la mujer que no había pasado inadvertida, vino temblando y cayó delante de él, y declaró en presencia de todo el pueblo por qué causa le había tocado, y cómo había sido sanada al instante.

When the woman saw she could not hide it, she came shaking. She got down before Jesus. Then she told Jesus in front of all the people why she had touched Him. She told how she was healed at once.

48 Y él le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha sanado; vete en paz.

Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”

49 T odavía estaba él hablando, cuando viene uno de parte del jefe de la sinagoga, diciendo: Tu hija ha muerto. No molestes más al Maestro.

While Jesus was yet talking, a man came from the house of the leader of the place of worship. This man said to Jairus, “Your daughter is dead. Do not make the Teacher use anymore of His time.”

50 P ero cuando Jesús lo oyó, le contestó: No temas; cree solamente, y será sanada.

Jesus heard it and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid, only believe. She will be made well.”

51 C uando llegó a la casa, no permitió a nadie entrar con él, excepto a Pedro, a Juan y a Jacobo, y al padre y a la madre de la muchacha.

Jesus went into the house. He let only Peter and James and John and the father and mother of the girl go in with Him.

52 T odos estaban llorando y lamentándose por ella; pero él dijo: No lloréis más; no ha muerto, sino que duerme.

Everyone was crying and full of sorrow because of her. Jesus said, “Do not cry. She is not dead, but is sleeping.”

53 Y se burlaban de él, sabiendo que estaba muerta.

Then they laughed at Jesus because they knew she was dead.

54 P ero él, tomándola de la mano, le dio voces, diciendo: Niña, levántate.

Jesus sent them all out. He took the girl by the hand and said, “Child, get up!”

55 E ntonces su espíritu volvió, e inmediatamente se levantó; y él mandó que se le diese de comer.

Her spirit came back and she got up at once. Jesus told them to bring her food.

56 Y sus padres quedaron asombrados; pero Jesús les mandó que a nadie dijesen lo que había sucedido.

Her parents were surprised and wondered about it. Then Jesus told them they should tell no one what had happened.
