1 R euniendo Jesús a los doce discípulos, les dio poder y autoridad sobre todos los demonios y para sanar enfermedades.
Jesus called His twelve followers to Him. He gave them the right and the power over all demons and to heal diseases.
2 L os envió a proclamar el reino de Dios y a sanar a los enfermos.
He sent them to preach about the holy nation of God and to heal the sick.
3 Y les dijo: “ No tomen nada para el camino, ni bordón, ni alforja (bolsa), ni pan, ni dinero; ni tengan dos túnicas cada uno.
Then He said to them, “Take nothing along for the trip. Do not take a walking stick or a bag or bread or money. Do not take two coats.
4 E n cualquier casa donde entren, quédense allí, y sea de allí su salida.
Whatever house you go into, stay there until you are ready to go on.
5 E n cuanto a los que no los reciban, al salir de esa ciudad, sacudan el polvo de sus pies en testimonio contra ellos.”
If anyone will not take you in, as you leave that city, shake its dust off your feet. That will speak against them.”
6 E ntonces salieron, e iban por las aldeas anunciando el evangelio y sanando por todas partes. Herodes Oye Hablar de Jesús
They went out, going from town to town. They preached the Good News and healed the sick everywhere. John the Baptist Is Killed
7 H erodes (Antipas) el tetrarca (de Galilea) se enteró de todo lo que estaba pasando, y estaba muy perplejo, porque algunos decían que Juan había resucitado de entre los muertos,
Now Herod the leader heard of all that had been done by Jesus. He was troubled because some people said that John the Baptist had been raised from the dead.
8 o tros, que Elías había aparecido, y otros, que algún profeta de los antiguos había resucitado.
Some people said that Elijah had come back. Others thought one of the early preachers had been raised from the dead.
9 E ntonces Herodes (Antipas) dijo: “A Juan yo lo hice decapitar; ¿quién es, entonces, Este de quien oigo tales cosas?” Y procuraba ver a Jesús. Alimentación de los Cinco Mil
Then Herod said, “I had John’s head cut off. But who is this Man that I hear these things about?” He wanted to see Jesus. The Feeding of the Five Thousand
10 C uando los apóstoles regresaron, dieron cuenta a Jesús de todo lo que habían hecho. Y tomándolos con El, se retiró aparte a una ciudad llamada Betsaida.
The twelve followers came back. They told Jesus what they had done. Jesus took them to a desert near the town of Bethsaida. There they could be alone.
11 P ero cuando la gente se dio cuenta de esto, Lo siguió; y Jesús, recibiéndolos, les hablaba del reino de Dios, y sanaba a los que tenían necesidad de ser curados.
When the people knew where Jesus was, they followed Him. Jesus was happy to see them and talked to them about the holy nation of God. He healed all who were sick.
12 E l día comenzaba a declinar, y acercándose los doce, Le dijeron: “Despide a la multitud, para que vayan a las aldeas y campos de los alrededores, y hallen alojamiento y consigan alimentos; porque aquí estamos en un lugar desierto.”
When the day was about over, the twelve followers came to Jesus. They said, “Send these many people away so they can go to the towns and country near here. There they can find a place to sleep and get food. We are here in a desert.”
13 “ Denles ustedes de comer,” les dijo Jesús. Y ellos dijeron: “No tenemos más que cinco panes y dos peces, a no ser que vayamos y compremos alimentos para toda esta gente.”
But Jesus said to them, “Give them something to eat.” They said, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish. Are we to go and buy food for all these people?”
14 P orque había como 5, 000 hombres. Y Jesús dijo a Sus discípulos: “Hagan que se recuesten en grupos como de cincuenta cada uno.”
There were about five thousand men. Jesus said to His followers, “Have them sit down in groups of fifty people.”
15 A sí lo hicieron, haciendo recostar a todos.
They did as He told them. They made all of the people sit down.
16 T omando El los cinco panes y los dos peces, levantó los ojos al cielo, los bendijo, los partió y los iba dando a los discípulos para que los sirvieran a la gente.
As Jesus took the five loaves of bread and two fish, He looked up to heaven and gave thanks. He broke them in pieces and gave them to His followers to give to the people.
17 T odos comieron y se saciaron; y se recogieron de lo que les sobró de los pedazos: doce cestas llenas. La Confesión de Pedro
They all ate and were filled. They picked up twelve baskets full of pieces of bread and fish after the people finished eating. Peter Says Jesus Is the Christ
18 E stando Jesús orando a solas, estaban con El los discípulos, y les preguntó: “¿Quién dicen las multitudes que soy Yo?”
While Jesus was praying alone, His followers were with Him. Jesus asked them, “Who do people say that I am?”
19 E ntonces ellos respondieron: “ Unos, Juan el Bautista, otros, Elías, y otros, que algún profeta de los antiguos ha resucitado.”
They said, “John the Baptist, but some say Elijah. Others say that one of the early preachers has been raised from the dead.”
20 “ Y ustedes ¿quién dicen que soy Yo?” les preguntó. Y Pedro le respondió: “El Cristo (El Mesías) de Dios.”
Jesus said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said, “You are the Christ of God.” Jesus Tells of His Death for the First Time
21 P ero Jesús, advirtiéndoles severamente, les mandó que no dijeran esto a nadie,
Then Jesus spoke to them and told them to tell no one.
22 y les dijo: “ El Hijo del Hombre debe padecer mucho, y ser rechazado por los ancianos, los principales sacerdotes y los escribas, y ser muerto, y resucitar al tercer día.”
He said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things. The leaders and the religious leaders and the teachers of the Law will have nothing to do with Him. He must be killed and be raised from the dead three days later.” Giving Up Self and One’s Own Desires
23 Y a todos les decía: “Si alguien quiere seguirme, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz cada día y sígame.
Then Jesus said to them all, “If anyone wants to follow Me, he must give up himself and his own desires. He must take up his cross everyday and follow Me.
24 P orque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá, pero el que pierda su vida por causa de Mí, ése la salvará.
If anyone wants to keep his own life safe, he must lose it. If anyone gives up his life because of Me, he will save it.
25 P ues, ¿de qué le sirve a un hombre haber ganado el mundo entero, si él mismo se destruye o se pierde ?
For what does a man have if he gets all the world and loses or gives up his life?
26 P orque el que se avergüence de Mí y de Mis palabras, de éste se avergonzará el Hijo del Hombre cuando venga en Su gloria, y la del Padre, y la de los santos ángeles.
Whoever is ashamed of Me and My Words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His own shining-greatness and of the Father’s and of the holy angels.
27 P ero en verdad les digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no probarán la muerte hasta que vean el reino de Dios.” La Transfiguración

28 Y como ocho días después de estas palabras, Jesús tomó con El a Pedro, a Juan y a Jacobo (Santiago), y subió al monte a orar.
About eight days after Jesus had said these things, He took Peter and James and John with Him. They went up on a mountain to pray.
29 M ientras oraba, la apariencia de Su rostro se hizo otra, y Su ropa se hizo blanca y resplandeciente.
As Jesus prayed, He was changed in looks before them. His clothes became white and shining bright.
30 Y de repente dos hombres hablaban con El, los cuales eran Moisés y Elías,
Two men talked with Jesus. They were Moses and Elijah.
31 q uienes apareciendo en gloria, hablaban de la partida de Jesús que El estaba a punto de cumplir en Jerusalén.
They looked like the shining-greatness of heaven as they talked about His death in Jerusalem which was soon to happen.
32 P edro y sus compañeros habían sido vencidos por el sueño, pero cuando estuvieron bien despiertos, vieron la gloria de Jesús y a los dos varones que estaban con El.
But Peter and those with him had gone to sleep. When they woke up, they saw His shining-greatness and the two men who stood with Him.
33 Y al retirarse ellos de El, Pedro dijo a Jesús: “Maestro, es bueno quedarnos aquí; hagamos tres enramadas, una para Ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías.” Pero Pedro no sabía lo que decía.
As the two men went from Jesus, Peter said to Him, “Teacher, it is good for us to be here. Let us build three tents to worship in. One will be for You. One will be for Moses. One will be for Elijah.” He did not know what he was saying.
34 E ntonces, mientras él decía esto, se formó una nube que los cubrió; y tuvieron temor al entrar en la nube.
While he was talking, a cloud came over them. They were afraid as the cloud came in around them.
35 Y una voz salió de la nube, que decía: “Este es Mi Hijo, Mi Escogido; oigan a El.”
A voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, the One I have chosen. Listen to Him!”
36 D espués de oírse la voz, Jesús quedó solo. Ellos mantuvieron esto en secreto; por aquellos días no contaron nada de lo que habían visto. Jesús Sana a un Muchacho Endemoniado
When the voice was gone, Jesus was standing there alone. From that time on, they kept these things to themselves. They told no one what they had seen. A Boy with a Demon Is Healed
37 Y aconteció que al día siguiente, cuando bajaron del monte, una gran multitud Le salió al encuentro.
The next day they came down from the mountain and many people met Jesus.
38 E n ese momento un hombre de la multitud gritó: “Maestro, Te suplico que veas a mi hijo, pues es el único que tengo,
A man from among the people cried out, “Teacher, I beg of You to look at my son. He is my only child.
39 y sucede que un espíritu se apodera de él, y de repente da gritos, y el espíritu hace que caiga con convulsiones, echando espumarajos; y cuando lo estropea, a duras penas se aparta de él.
See, a demon takes him and makes him cry out. It takes hold of him and makes him shake. Spit runs from his mouth. He has marks on his body from being hurt. The demon does not want to go from him.
40 E ntonces rogué a Tus discípulos que echaran fuera ese espíritu, y no pudieron.”
I begged Your followers to put the demon out, but they could not.”
41 J esús les respondió: “¡Oh generación incrédula y perversa! ¿Hasta cuándo he de estar con ustedes y he de soportarlos? Trae acá a tu hijo.”
Then Jesus said, “You people of this day do not have faith. You turn from what is right! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring your son to Me.”
42 C uando éste se acercaba, el demonio lo derribó y lo hizo caer con convulsiones. Pero Jesús reprendió al espíritu inmundo, y sanó al muchacho y se lo devolvió a su padre.
While the boy was coming, the demon threw him down and made him lose the use of his mind for awhile. Jesus spoke sharp words to the demon. He healed the child and gave him back to his father. Jesus Tells of His Death the Second Time
43 Y todos estaban admirados de la grandeza (majestad) de Dios. Jesús Anuncia Otra Vez Su Muerte Mientras todos se maravillaban de todas las cosas que hacía, Jesús dijo a Sus discípulos:
They were all surprised at the great power of God. They all were thinking about the special things Jesus had done. And Jesus said to His followers,
44 “ Hagan que estas palabras penetren en sus oídos, porque el Hijo del Hombre va a ser entregado en manos de los hombres.”
“Remember these words. For the Son of Man will be given over into the hands of men.”
45 P ero ellos no entendían estas palabras, y les estaban veladas para que no las comprendieran; y temían preguntar a Jesús acerca de ellas. El Mayor en el Reino de los Cielos
They did not understand these words because it was hidden from them. They did not know what Jesus meant and were afraid to ask Him. Jesus Teaches about the Faith of a Child
46 Y comenzó una discusión entre ellos, sobre quién de ellos sería el mayor.
The followers argued among themselves about which of them would be the greatest.
47 E ntonces Jesús, sabiendo lo que pensaban en sus corazones, tomó a un niño y lo puso a Su lado.
Jesus knew what they were thinking. He put a child beside Him.
48 “ El que reciba a este niño en Mi nombre,” les dijo, “Me recibe a Mí; y el que Me recibe a Mí, recibe a Aquél que Me envió; porque el que es más pequeño (humilde) entre todos ustedes, ése es grande.”
He said to the followers, “Whoever receives this child in My name, receives Me. Whoever receives Me, receives Him Who sent Me. The one who is least among you is the one who is great.” The Sharp Words Against the Followers
49 Y Juan respondió: “Maestro, vimos a uno echando fuera demonios en Tu nombre, y tratamos de impedírselo porque no anda con nosotros.”
John said, “Teacher, we saw someone putting out demons in Your name. We told him to stop because he was not following us.”
50 P ero Jesús le dijo: “No se lo impidan; porque el que no está contra ustedes, está con ustedes.” Jesús Reprende a Jacobo y a Juan
Jesus said to him, “Do not stop him. He who is not against us is for us.” Jesus and His Followers Leave Galilee
51 S ucedió que cuando se cumplían los días de Su ascensión, Jesús, con determinación, afirmó Su rostro para ir a Jerusalén.
It was about time for Jesus to be taken up into heaven. He turned toward Jerusalem and was sure that nothing would stop Him from going.
52 Y envió mensajeros delante de El; y ellos fueron y entraron en una aldea de los Samaritanos para hacer los preparativos para El.
He sent men on ahead of Him. They came to a town in Samaria. There they got things ready for Jesus.
53 P ero no Lo recibieron, porque sabían que había determinado ir a Jerusalén.
The people did not want Him there because they knew He was on His way to Jerusalem.
54 A l ver esto, Sus discípulos Jacobo (Santiago) y Juan, dijeron: “Señor, ¿quieres que mandemos que descienda fuego del cielo y los consuma ?”
James and John, His followers, saw this. They said, “Lord, do You want us to speak so fire will come down from heaven and burn them up as Elijah did?”
55 P ero El, volviéndose, los reprendió, y dijo: “Ustedes no saben de qué espíritu son,
Jesus turned and spoke sharp words to them. (He said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you have.
56 p orque el Hijo del Hombre no ha venido para destruir las almas de los hombres, sino para salvarlas.” Y se fueron a otra aldea. Lo que Demanda el Discipulado
The Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives. He came to save them from the punishment of sin.” They went on their way to another town.) The Testing of Some Followers
57 M ientras ellos iban por el camino, uno Le dijo: “Te seguiré adondequiera que vayas.”
As they were going on their way, a man said to Jesus, “Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.”
58 “ Las zorras tienen madrigueras (cuevas) y las aves del cielo nidos,” le dijo Jesús, “pero el Hijo del Hombre no tiene dónde recostar la cabeza.”
Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes. Birds of the sky have nests. The Son of Man has no place to put His head.”
59 A otro le dijo: “Ven tras Mí.” Pero él contestó: “Señor, permíteme que vaya primero a enterrar a mi padre.”
He said to another, “Follow Me.” But the man said, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.”
60 “ Deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos,” le respondió Jesús; “pero tú, ve y anuncia por todas partes el reino de Dios.”
Jesus said to him, “Let the people who are dead bury their own dead. You go and preach about the holy nation of God.”
61 T ambién otro dijo: “Te seguiré, Señor; pero primero permíteme despedirme de los de mi casa.”
And another one said, “Lord, I will follow You, but first let me go and say good-bye to those at home.”
62 P ero Jesús le dijo: “Nadie, que después de poner la mano en el arado mira atrás, es apto para el reino de Dios.”
Jesus said to him, “Anyone who puts his hand on a plow and looks back at the things behind is of no use in the holy nation of God.”
