In the beginning God made from nothing the heavens and the earth.

2 P ămîntul era pustiu şi gol; peste faţa adîncului de ape era întunerec, şi Duhul lui Dumnezeu se mişca pe deasupra apelor.

The earth was an empty waste and darkness was over the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was moving over the top of the waters.

3 D umnezeu a zis:,, Să fie lumină!`` Şi a fost lumină.

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

4 D umnezeu a văzut că lumina era bună; şi Dumnezeu a despărţit lumina de întunerec.

God saw that the light was good. He divided the light from the darkness.

5 D umnezeu a numit lumina zi, iar întunerecul l -a numit noapte. Astfel, a fost o seară, şi apoi a fost o dimineaţă: aceasta a fost ziua întîi.

Then God called the light day, and He called the darkness night. There was evening and there was morning, one day.

6 D umnezeu a zis:,, Să fie o întindere între ape, şi ea să despartă apele de ape.``

Then God said, “Let there be an open space between the waters. Let it divide waters from waters.”

7 Ş i Dumnezeu a făcut întinderea, şi ea a despărţit apele cari sînt dedesuptul întinderii de apele cari sînt deasupra întinderii. Şi aşa a fost.

God made the open space, and divided the waters under the open space from the waters above the open space. And it was so.

8 D umnezeu a numit întinderea cer. Astfel, a fost o seară, şi apoi a fost o dimineaţă: aceasta a fost ziua a doua.

Then God called the open space Heaven. There was evening and there was morning, the second day.

9 D umnezeu a zis:,, Să se strîngă la un loc apele cari sînt dedesuptul cerului, şi să se arate uscatul!`` Şi aşa a fost.

Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered into one place. Let the dry land be seen.” And it was so.

10 D umnezeu a numit uscatul pămînt, iar grămada de ape a numit -o mări. Dumnezeu a văzut că lucrul acesta era bun.

Then God called the dry land Earth. He called the gathering of the waters Seas. And God saw that it was good.

11 A poi Dumnezeu a zis:,, Să dea pămîntul verdeaţă, iarbă cu sămînţă, pomi roditori, cari să facă rod după soiul lor şi cari să aibă în ei sămînţa lor pe pămînt.`` Şi aşa a fost.

Then God said, “Let plants grow from the earth, plants that have seeds. Let fruit trees grow on the earth that bring their kind of fruit with their own seeds.” And it was so.

12 P ămîntul a dat verdeaţă, iarbă cu sămînţă după soiul ei, şi pomi cari fac rod şi cari îşi au sămînţa în ei, după soiul lor. Dumnezeu a văzut că lucrul acesta era bun.

Plants grew out of the earth, giving their own kind of seeds. Trees grew with their fruit, and their kind of seeds. And God saw that it was good.

13 A stfel, a fost o seară, şi apoi a fost o dimineaţă: aceasta a fost ziua a treia.

There was evening and there was morning, the third day.

14 D umnezeu a zis:,, Să fie nişte luminători în întinderea cerului, ca să despartă ziua de noapte; ei să fie nişte semne cari să arate vremile, zilele şi anii;

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the open space of the heavens to divide day from night. Let them tell the days and years and times of the year.

15 ş i să slujească de luminători în întinderea cerului, ca să lumineze pămîntul.`` Şi aşa a fost.

Let them be lights in the open space of the heavens to give light on the earth.” And it was so.

16 D umnezeu a făcut cei doi mari luminători, şi anume: luminătorul cel mai mare ca să stăpînească ziua, şi luminătorul cel mai mic ca să stăpînească noaptea; a făcut şi stelele.

Then God made the two great lights, the brighter light to rule the day, and the smaller light to rule the night. He made the stars also.

17 D umnezeu i -a aşezat în întinderea cerului, ca să lumineze pămîntul,

God put them in the open space of the heavens to give light on the earth,

18 s ă stăpînească ziua şi noaptea, şi să despartă lumina de întunerec. Dumnezeu a văzut că lucrul acesta era bun.

to rule the day and the night. He divided the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

19 A stfel, a fost o seară, şi apoi a fost o dimineaţă: aceasta a fost ziua a patra.

There was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

20 D umnezeu a zis:,, Să mişune apele de vieţuitoare, şi să sboare păsări deasupra pămîntului pe întinderea cerului.``

Then God said, “Let the waters be full of living things. Let birds fly above the earth in the open space of the heavens.”

21 D umnezeu a făcut peştii cei mari şi toate vieţuitoarele cari se mişcă şi de cari mişună apele, după soiurile lor; a făcut şi orice pasăre înaripată după soiul ei. Dumnezeu a văzut că erau bune.

God made the big animals that live in the sea, and every living thing that moves through the waters by its kind, and every winged bird after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

22 D umnezeu le -a binecuvîntat, şi a zis:,, Creşteţi, înmulţiţi-vă, şi umpleţi apele mărilor; să se înmulţească şi păsările pe pămînt``.

God wanted good to come to them, saying, “Give birth to many. Grow in number. Fill the waters in the seas. Let birds grow in number on the earth.”

23 A stfel a fost o seară, şi apoi a fost o dimineaţă: aceasta a fost ziua a cincea.

There was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.

24 D umnezeu a zis:,, Să dea pămîntul vieţuitoare după soiul lor, vite, tîrîtoare şi fiare pămînteşti, după soiul lor.`` Şi aşa a fost.

Then God said, “Let the earth bring into being living things after their kind: Cattle and things that move upon the ground, and wild animals of the earth after their kind.” And it was so.

25 D umnezeu a făcut fiarele pămîntului după soiul lor, vitele după soiul lor şi toate tîrîtoarele pămîntului după soiul lor. Dumnezeu a văzut că erau bune.

Then God made the wild animals of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every thing that moves upon the ground after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 A poi Dumnezeu a zis:,, Să facem om după chipul Nostru, după asemănarea Noastră; el să stăpînească peste peştii mării, peste păsările cerului, peste vite, peste tot pămîntul şi peste toate tîrîtoarele cari se mişcă pe pămînt.``

Then God said, “Let Us make man like Us and let him be head over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every thing that moves on the ground.”

27 D umnezeu a făcut pe om după chipul Său, l -a făcut după chipul lui Dumnezeu; parte bărbătească şi parte femeiască i -a făcut.

And God made man in His own likeness. In the likeness of God He made him. He made both male and female.

28 D umnezeu i -a binecuvîntat, şi Dumnezeu le -a zis:,, Creşteţi, înmulţiţi-vă, umpleţi pămîntul, şi supuneţi -l; şi stăpîniţi peste peştii mării, peste păsările cerului, şi peste orice vieţuitoare care se mişcă pe pămînt.``

And God wanted good to come to them, saying, “Give birth to many. Grow in number. Fill the earth and rule over it. Rule over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

29 Ş i Dumnezeu a zis:,, Iată că v'am dat orice iarbă care face sămînţă şi care este pe faţa întregului pămînt, şi orice pom, care are în el rod cu sămînţă: aceasta să fie hrana voastră.``

Then God said, “See, I have given you every plant that gives seeds that is on the earth, and every tree that has fruit that gives seeds. They will be food for you.

30 I ar tuturor fiarelor pămîntului, tuturor păsărilor cerului, şi tuturor vietăţilor cari se mişcă pe pămînt, cari au în ele o suflare de viaţă, le-am dat ca hrană toată iarba verde.`` Şi aşa a fost.

I have given every green plant for food to every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to every thing that moves on the earth that has life.” And it was so.

31 D umnezeu S'a uitat la tot ce făcuse; şi iată că erau foarte bune. Astfel a fost o seară, şi apoi a fost o dimineaţă: aceasta a fost ziua a şasea.

God saw all that He had made and it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
