1 П росіть від Господа дощу часу весняного пізнього дощу, Господь чинить блискавки, і зливний дощ посилає їм, кожному траву на полі.

¶ Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain, so the LORD shall make lightnings and shall give you abundant rain and grass in the field to each one.

2 Б о говорять марноту домові божки, і віщуни бачать лжу, і розказують сни неправдиві, потішають марнотою. Тому вони бродять, немов та отара, мандрують вони, бо без пастиря.

For the idols have spoken vanity and the diviners have seen a lie and have told vain dreams; they comfort in vain; therefore they went their way like sheep; they were humbled because there was no shepherd.

3 Н а пастирів гнів Мій палає, а козлів навіщу, бо стадо Своє, Юдин дім покарає Господь Саваот, і вчинить Він їх, немов Своїм славним конем на війні.

My anger is kindled against the pastors, and I will visit the he goats, for the LORD of the hosts shall visit his flock, the house of Judah, and shall make them as his horse of honour in the battle.

4 З нього буде наріжник, із нього кілок, з нього лук бойовий, з нього вийдуть керманичі разом усі,

Out of him shall come the corner, out of him the stake, out of him the battle bow, out of him also every oppressor.

5 І будуть, немов те лицарство, що топче воно на війні, як болото на вулицях, і будуть вони воювати, бо з ними Господь, і кіннотних їздців засоромляться.

¶ And they shall be as mighty men, who tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle; and they shall fight because the LORD shall be with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.

6 І вчиню Я лицарським дім Юдин, а дім Йосипів спасу, і верну їх, бо змилосердивсь над ними, і стануть вони, ніби Я їх не кидав, Бо Я Господь Бог їхній, і буду Я їх вислуховувати.

For I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will keep the house of Joseph, and I will cause them to return; for I shall have compassion upon them, and they shall be as though I had not cast them off, for I am the LORD their God and will hear them.

7 І стане лицарським Єфрем, і звеселіє їхнє серце, немов від вина, а їхні сини це побачать та будуть радіти, потішиться серце їхнє Господом.

And those of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine, their sons shall also see it and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD.

8 Я їм дам знака та їх позбираю, бо Я викупив їх, і множитись будуть, як множились.

I will hiss for them and gather them; for I have ransomed them; and they shall be multiplied as they were multiplied.

9 І розсію Я їх між народами, і в далеких краях вони будуть Мене згадувати, і житимуть з дітьми своїми, і вернуться.

It was good that I planted them among the peoples; even in far countries there shall be mention made of me; and they shall live with their sons and turn again.

10 І верну їх із краю єгипетського, і позгромаджую їх із Ашшуру, і введу їх до краю Ґілеаду й Лівану, і місця не вистачить їм.

I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them.

11 І прийде по морі нещастя, і хвилі на морі ударить, і повисихають усі глибини Ріки, і буде понижена гордість Ашшуру, і від Єгипту відійметься берло.

And the tribulation shall pass through the sea and shall smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up; and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the sceptre of Egypt shall be lost.

12 І зміцню їх у Господі, і Йменням Його вони будуть ходити, говорить Господь!

And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the LORD.
