1 І вийшов жеребок для Манасіїного племени, бо він первенець Йосипів, Махірові, Манасіїному первенцеві, Ґілеадовому батькові, бо він був вояк, то був йому Ґілеад та Башан.

¶ There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph. Machir, the firstborn of Manasseh and father of Gilead, who was a man of war, had Gilead and Bashan.

2 І було для позосталих Манасіїних синів за їхніми родами: синам Авіезера, і синам Хелека, і синам Азріїла, і синам Шехема, і синам Хефера, і синам Шеміда. Оце сини Манасії, Йосипового сина, мужі, за їхніми родами.

There was also a lot for the rest of the sons of Manasseh by their families: for the sons of Abiezer and for the sons of Helek and for the sons of Asriel and for the sons of Shechem, and for the sons of Hepher and for the sons of Shemida: these were the male sons of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, by their families.

3 А в Целофхада, сина Хефера, сина Ґілеада, сина Махіра, сина Манасіїного, не було в нього синів, а тільки дочки. А оце імена його дочок: Махла, і Ноа, і Хоґла, Мілка та Тірца.

But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters, and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

4 І прийшли вони до священика Елеазара, і до Ісуса, Навинового сина, та перед начальників, говорячи: Господь наказав був Мойсеєві дати нам спадок серед наших братів. І дав їм на Господній наказ спадок серед братів їхнього батька.

And they came near before Eleazar the priest and before Joshua, the son of Nun, and before the princes and said, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore, according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

5 І випало для Манасії десять наділів, окрім землі Ґілеаду та Башану, що по той бік Йордану,

And there fell ten portions to Manasseh besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side of the Jordan,

6 б о Манасіїні дочки посіли спадок серед синів його, а ґілеадський край був для позосталих Манасіїних синів.

because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons; and the rest of Manasseh’s sons had the land of Gilead.

7 І була Манасіїна границя від Ашер-Гамміхметату, що навпроти Сигему, і йде та границя на південь до мешканців Ен-Таппуаху.

¶ And the border of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, which is before Shechem; and this border goes along on the right hand to the inhabitants of Entappuah.

8 Д ля Манасії був край Таппуах, а місто Таппуах при Манасіїній границі для Єфремових синів.

Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah; but the Tappuah next to the border of Manasseh belongs to the sons of Ephraim;

9 І сходить та границя до потоку Кана, на південь від потоку. Ці міста Єфремові серед Манасіїних міст. А границя Манасії від півночі до потоку, а кінчалася при морі.

And this border descends to the river Kanah towards the Negev of the river. These cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh; and the border of Manasseh is from the north side of the same river, and it comes out at the sea.

10 Н а південь Єфремове, а на північ Манасіїне, а границею того було море. А в Асирі вони стикалися з півночі, а в Іссахарі зо сходу.

Ephraim towards the Negev and Manasseh to the north and the sea is his border; and they meet with Asher on the side of the north and with Issachar to the east.

11 І було для Манасії в Іссахарі та в Асирі: Бет-Шеан та його залежні міста, і Ївлеам та його залежні міста, і мешканці Доару та його залежні міста, і мешканці Таанаху та його залежні міста, і мешканці Меґіддо та його залежні міста, три верховини.

And Manasseh also had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and her towns and Ibleam and her towns and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, three provinces.

12 Т а Манасіїні сини не могли повиганяти мешканців цих міст, і ханаанеянин продовжував сидіти в тому краї.

But the sons of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; to the contrary the Canaanite desired to dwell in that land.

13 І сталося, коли Ізраїлеві сини стали сильні, то дали ханаанеянина на данину, а вигнати не вигнали його.

Yet it came to pass when the sons of Israel waxed strong that they put the Canaanite under tribute, but did not utterly drive them out.

14 І говорили Йосипові сини з Ісусом, кажучи: Чому ти дав мені на спадок один жеребок та наділ один, а я ж народ численний, бо до цього часу благословив мене Господь.

¶ And the sons of Joseph spoke unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people and that the LORD has blessed me as such until now?

15 І сказав до них Ісус: Якщо ти народ численний, то піди до лісу, та й повикорчовуєш собі там у краї періззеянина та рефаїв, бо Єфремова гора стала тісна для тебе.

And Joshua answered them, If thou art such a great people, then go up to the forest and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzite and of the giants, if mountain of Ephraim is too narrow for thee.

16 І сказали Йосипові сини: Не вистачить нам тієї гори, та й залізна колесниця в кожного ханаанеянина, що сидить у долині, як у того, що в Бет-Шеані та в його залежних містах, так і в того, що в долині Ізреельській.

And the sons of Joseph said, This mountain is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both those who are in Bethshean and her towns, and those who are in the valley of Jezreel.

17 І сказав Ісус до Йосипового дому, до Єфрема та до Манасії, говорячи: Ти численний народ, і в тебе сила велика, не буде тобі один жеребок,

Then Joshua replied unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people and hast great strength; thou shalt not have only one lot;

18 а ле буде тобі гористий край; а що там ліс, то викорчуй його, і будуть тобі й його кінці. Бо ти виженеш ханаанеянина, хоч у нього колесниці залізні, хоч він сильний.

but that mountain shall be thine, for it is a forest, and thou shalt cut it down, and the borders of it shall be thine; for thou shalt drive out the Canaanite, though he has iron chariots and though he is strong.
