1 A hora bien, hermanos, con respecto a los tiempos y a las épocas, no tienen necesidad de que se les escriba nada.

¶ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 P ues ustedes mismos saben perfectamente que el día del Señor vendrá así como un ladrón en la noche;

For ye know well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night.

3 q ue cuando estén diciendo: “Paz y seguridad,” entonces la destrucción vendrá sobre ellos repentinamente, como dolores de parto a una mujer que está encinta, y no escaparán.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 P ero ustedes, hermanos, no están en tinieblas, para que el día los sorprenda como ladrón;

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should take you as a thief.

5 p orque todos ustedes son hijos de la luz e hijos del día. No somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas.

Ye are all the sons of light, and the sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 P or tanto, no durmamos como los demás, sino estemos alerta y seamos sobrios (tengamos dominio propio).

¶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 P orque los que duermen, de noche duermen, y los que se emborrachan, de noche se emborrachan.

For those that sleep in the night, and those that are drunken are drunken in the night.

8 P ero puesto que nosotros somos del día, seamos sobrios (tengamos dominio propio), habiéndonos puesto la coraza de la fe y del amor, y por casco la esperanza de la salvación.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet, the hope of saving health.

9 P orque no nos ha destinado Dios para ira, sino para obtener salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,

For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain saving health by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 q ue murió por nosotros, para que ya sea que estemos despiertos o dormidos, vivamos junto con El.

who died for us, that whether we watch or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 P or tanto, confórtense (aliéntense) los unos a los otros, y edifíquense el uno al otro, tal como lo están haciendo. Deberes Prácticos de la Vida Cristiana

¶ Therefore comfort and edify one another, even as ye do.

12 P ero les rogamos hermanos, que reconozcan (honren) a los que con diligencia trabajan entre ustedes, y los dirigen en el Señor y los instruyen (amonestan),

And we beseech you, brethren, to recognize those who labour among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you

13 y que los tengan en muy alta estima con amor, por causa de su trabajo. Vivan en paz los unos con los otros.

and that you express greater charity unto them for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14 L es exhortamos, hermanos, a que amonesten a los indisciplinados, animen a los desalentados, sostengan a los débiles y sean pacientes con todos.

We also exhort you, brethren, that you warn those that are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with everyone.

15 M iren que ninguno devuelva a otro mal por mal, sino que procuren siempre lo bueno los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.

See that no one renders evil for evil unto anyone, but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men.

16 E stén siempre gozosos.

¶ Always rejoice.

17 O ren sin cesar.

Pray without ceasing.

18 D en gracias en todo, porque ésta es la voluntad de Dios para ustedes en Cristo Jesús.

In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19 N o apaguen el Espíritu.

Quench not the Spirit.

20 N o desprecien las profecías (los dones de profecías).

Despise not prophecies.

21 A ntes bien, examínenlo todo cuidadosamente, retengan lo bueno.

Examine all things; retain that which is good.

22 A bsténganse de toda forma (apariencia) de mal. Pablo Ora por la Santificación de los Tesalonicenses

Separate yourselves from all appearance of evil.

23 Y que el mismo Dios de paz los santifique por completo; y que todo su ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo, sea preservado irreprensible para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

¶ And the very God of peace sanctify you completely, that your spirit, soul, and body be preserved whole without reprehension for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 F iel es Aquél que los llama, el cual también lo hará. Saludos y Bendición Final

Faithful is he that has called you, who will also do it.

25 H ermanos, oren por nosotros.

Brethren, pray for us.

26 S aluden a todos los hermanos con beso santo.

Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.

27 L es encargo solemnemente por el Señor que se lea esta carta a todos los hermanos.

I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

28 L a gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con ustedes.
