1 ¶ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

Ahora bien, hermanos, con respecto a los tiempos y a las épocas, no tienen necesidad de que se les escriba nada.

2 F or ye know well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night.

Pues ustedes mismos saben perfectamente que el día del Señor vendrá así como un ladrón en la noche;

3 F or when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

que cuando estén diciendo: “Paz y seguridad,” entonces la destrucción vendrá sobre ellos repentinamente, como dolores de parto a una mujer que está encinta, y no escaparán.

4 B ut ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should take you as a thief.

Pero ustedes, hermanos, no están en tinieblas, para que el día los sorprenda como ladrón;

5 Y e are all the sons of light, and the sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

porque todos ustedes son hijos de la luz e hijos del día. No somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas.

6 ¶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás, sino estemos alerta y seamos sobrios (tengamos dominio propio).

7 F or those that sleep in the night, and those that are drunken are drunken in the night.

Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen, y los que se emborrachan, de noche se emborrachan.

8 B ut let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet, the hope of saving health.

Pero puesto que nosotros somos del día, seamos sobrios (tengamos dominio propio), habiéndonos puesto la coraza de la fe y del amor, y por casco la esperanza de la salvación.

9 F or God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain saving health by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Porque no nos ha destinado Dios para ira, sino para obtener salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,

10 w ho died for us, that whether we watch or sleep, we should live together with him.

que murió por nosotros, para que ya sea que estemos despiertos o dormidos, vivamos junto con El.

11 ¶ Therefore comfort and edify one another, even as ye do.

Por tanto, confórtense (aliéntense) los unos a los otros, y edifíquense el uno al otro, tal como lo están haciendo. Deberes Prácticos de la Vida Cristiana

12 A nd we beseech you, brethren, to recognize those who labour among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you

Pero les rogamos hermanos, que reconozcan (honren) a los que con diligencia trabajan entre ustedes, y los dirigen en el Señor y los instruyen (amonestan),

13 a nd that you express greater charity unto them for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

y que los tengan en muy alta estima con amor, por causa de su trabajo. Vivan en paz los unos con los otros.

14 W e also exhort you, brethren, that you warn those that are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with everyone.

Les exhortamos, hermanos, a que amonesten a los indisciplinados, animen a los desalentados, sostengan a los débiles y sean pacientes con todos.

15 S ee that no one renders evil for evil unto anyone, but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men.

Miren que ninguno devuelva a otro mal por mal, sino que procuren siempre lo bueno los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.

16 ¶ Always rejoice.

Estén siempre gozosos.

17 P ray without ceasing.

Oren sin cesar.

18 I n every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Den gracias en todo, porque ésta es la voluntad de Dios para ustedes en Cristo Jesús.

19 Q uench not the Spirit.

No apaguen el Espíritu.

20 D espise not prophecies.

No desprecien las profecías (los dones de profecías).

21 E xamine all things; retain that which is good.

Antes bien, examínenlo todo cuidadosamente, retengan lo bueno.

22 S eparate yourselves from all appearance of evil.

Absténganse de toda forma (apariencia) de mal. Pablo Ora por la Santificación de los Tesalonicenses

23 ¶ And the very God of peace sanctify you completely, that your spirit, soul, and body be preserved whole without reprehension for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Y que el mismo Dios de paz los santifique por completo; y que todo su ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo, sea preservado irreprensible para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

24 F aithful is he that has called you, who will also do it.

Fiel es Aquél que los llama, el cual también lo hará. Saludos y Bendición Final

25 B rethren, pray for us.

Hermanos, oren por nosotros.

26 G reet all the brethren with a holy kiss.

Saluden a todos los hermanos con beso santo.

27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

Les encargo solemnemente por el Señor que se lea esta carta a todos los hermanos.

28 T he grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
