1 ¶ Now Hiram, king of Tyre, sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house.

Hiram, rey de Tiro, envió mensajeros a David, con madera de cedro, albañiles y carpinteros, para edificarle una casa.

2 A nd David, understanding that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel and had lifted up his kingdom above his people Israel,

Y comprendió David que el Señor lo había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que su reino había sido exaltado en gran manera por amor a su pueblo Israel.

3 t ook more wives at Jerusalem; and David begat more sons and daughters.

En Jerusalén David tomó más mujeres, y tuvo David más hijos e hijas.

4 N ow these are the names of his children which were born unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

Estos son los nombres de los hijos que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

5 I bhar, Elishua, Elpalet,

Ibhar, Elisúa, Elpelet,

6 N ogah, Nepheg, Japhia,

Noga, Nefeg, Jafía,

7 E lishama, Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

Elisama, Beeliada y Elifelet.

8 ¶ And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it and went out against them.

Al oír los Filisteos que David había sido ungido rey sobre todo Israel, todos los Filisteos subieron en busca de David. Pero cuando David se enteró, salió contra ellos.

9 A nd the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

Pues los Filisteos habían venido y hecho una incursión en el Valle de Refaim.

10 A nd David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up, for I will deliver them into thy hands.

David consultó a Dios: “¿Subiré contra los Filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano?” Y el Señor le dijo: “Sube, porque los entregaré en tu mano.”

11 S o they came up to Baalperazim, and David smote them there. Then David said, God has broken in upon my enemies by my hand like the breaking forth of waters. Therefore, they called the name of that place Baalperazim.

Entonces subieron a Baal Perazim, y David los derrotó allí. Y dijo David: “Dios ha abierto brecha entre mis enemigos por mi mano, como brecha de aguas.” Por eso llamó aquel lugar Baal Perazim.

12 A nd they left their gods there, and David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.

Los Filisteos abandonaron allí sus dioses, y David ordenó que fueran quemados.

13 A nd the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.

Después los Filisteos hicieron de nuevo otra incursión en el valle.

14 T herefore, David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Do not go up after them; go around them to come upon them over against the mulberry trees;

David volvió a consultar a Dios, y Dios le dijo: “No subas contra ellos; dales un rodeo por detrás, y sal a ellos frente a las balsameras.

15 a nd it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God shall go forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

Y cuando oigas el sonido de marcha en las copas de las balsameras, entonces saldrás a la batalla, porque Dios ya habrá salido delante de ti para herir al ejército de los Filisteos.”

16 D avid, therefore, did as God commanded him, and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.

David hizo tal como Dios le había mandado, e hirieron al ejército de los Filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Gezer.

17 A nd the fame of David went out into all those lands, and the LORD put the fear of him upon all the Gentiles.

La fama de David se extendió por todas aquellas tierras, y el Señor puso el terror de David sobre todas las naciones.
