1 ¶ Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course and be glorified, even as it is with you,

Finalmente, hermanos, oren por nosotros, para que la palabra del Señor se extienda rápidamente y sea glorificada, así como sucedió también con ustedes.

2 A nd that we may be delivered from perverse and wicked men, for the faith is not of everyone.

Oren también para que seamos librados de hombres perversos y malos, porque no todos tienen fe.

3 B ut the Lord is faithful, who shall confirm you and keep you from evil.

Pero el Señor es fiel y El los fortalecerá a ustedes y los protegerá del maligno.

4 A nd we have confidence in the Lord regarding you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.

Tenemos confianza en el Señor respecto de ustedes, de que hacen y continuarán haciendo lo que les ordenamos.

5 A nd the Lord make your hearts upright in the charity of God and in the hope of the Christ.

Que el Señor dirija sus corazones hacia el amor de Dios y hacia la perseverancia de Cristo. Exhortación a una Vida Util

6 ¶ Now we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks out of order, and not after the doctrine which ye received of us.

Ahora bien, hermanos, les mandamos en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que se aparten de todo hermano que ande desordenadamente, y no según la doctrina que ustedes recibieron de nosotros.

7 F or you know in what manner you ought to imitate us, for we did not walk disorderly among you,

Pues ustedes mismos saben cómo deben seguir nuestro ejemplo (cómo imitarnos), porque no obramos de manera indisciplinada entre ustedes,

8 n either did we eat any man’s bread for nought, but working with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you,

ni comimos de balde el pan de nadie, sino que con dificultad y fatiga trabajamos día y noche a fin de no ser carga a ninguno de ustedes.

9 N ot because we did not have authority, but to give you an example that you might imitate us.

No porque no tengamos derecho a ello, sino para ofrecernos como modelo a ustedes a fin de que sigan nuestro ejemplo (nos imiten).

10 F or even when we were with you, this we declared unto you, that if anyone desires not to work neither should he eat.

Porque aun cuando estábamos con ustedes les ordenábamos esto: Si alguien no quiere trabajar, que tampoco coma.

11 F or we hear that there are some who walk among you out of order, not working at all, but are busybodies.

Porque oímos que algunos entre ustedes andan desordenadamente, sin trabajar, pero andan metiéndose en todo.

12 N ow those that are such, we charge and exhort in our Lord Jesus Christ, that working with quietness, they eat their bread.

A tales personas les ordenamos y exhortamos en el Señor Jesucristo, que trabajando tranquilamente, coman su propio pan.

13 B ut ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

Pero ustedes, hermanos, no se cansen de hacer el bien.

14 A nd if anyone does not hearken unto our word by this epistle, note that one and do not join with him, that he may be ashamed.

Y si alguien no obedece nuestra enseñanza (la palabra) en esta carta, señalen al tal y no se asocien con él, para que se avergüence.

15 Y et count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Sin embargo, no lo tengan por enemigo, sino amonéstenlo como a un hermano. Despedida y Bendición Final

16 ¶ Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by every means. The Lord be with you all.

Que el mismo Señor de paz siempre les conceda paz en todas las circunstancias. El Señor sea con todos ustedes.

17 R eceive saving health from my hand, Paul, which is the sign in all my letters: so I write.

Yo, Pablo, escribo este saludo con mi propia mano, y ésta es una señal distintiva en todas mis cartas; así escribo yo.

18 T he grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
