1 ¶ And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first that he went through the grain fields and his disciples plucked the ears of grain and ate, rubbing them in their hands.

Aconteció que un día de reposo Jesús pasaba por unos sembrados, y Sus discípulos arrancaban y comían espigas, restregándo las entre las manos.

2 A nd certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

Pero algunos de los Fariseos dijeron: “¿Por qué hacen ustedes lo que no es lícito en el día de reposo ?”

3 A nd Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when he and those that were with him were hungry,

Jesús les respondió: “¿Ni siquiera han leído lo que hizo David cuando tuvo hambre, él y los que con él estaban;

4 h ow he went into the house of God and did take and eat the showbread and gave also to those that were with him, which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?

cómo entró en la casa de Dios, y tomó y comió los panes consagrados, que a nadie es lícito comer sino sólo a los sacerdotes, y dio también a sus compañeros?”

5 A nd he said unto them, The Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath.

También les decía: “El Hijo del Hombre es Señor del día de reposo.” Jesús Sana al Hombre de la Mano Seca

6 A nd it came to pass also on another sabbath that he entered into the synagogue and taught, and a man was there whose right hand was withered.

Y en otro día de reposo entró en la sinagoga y enseñaba; y había allí un hombre que tenía la mano derecha seca.

7 A nd the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day, that they might find an accusation against him.

A fin de encontrar de qué acusar a Jesús, los escribas y los Fariseos Lo observaban atentamente para ver si sanaba en el día de reposo.

8 B ut he knew their thoughts and said to the man who had the withered hand, Rise up and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

Pero El sabía lo que ellos estaban pensando, y dijo al hombre que tenía la mano seca (paralizada): “Levántate y ven acá.” Y él, levantándose, se puso de pie.

9 T hen said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing: Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good or to do evil? to save a person or to destroy them?

Entonces Jesús les dijo: “Yo les pregunto: ¿es lícito en el día de reposo hacer bien o hacer mal; salvar una vida o destruirla?”

10 A nd looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so, and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Después de mirarlos a todos a su alrededor, dijo al hombre: “Extiende tu mano.” Y él lo hizo así, y su mano quedó sana.

11 A nd they were filled with madness and talked one with another about what they might do to Jesus.

Pero ellos se llenaron de ira, y discutían entre sí qué podrían hacerle a Jesús. Jesús Escoge a los Doce Apóstoles

12 ¶ And it came to pass in those days that he went out into the mountain to pray and continued all night in prayer to God.

En esos días Jesús se fue al monte a orar, y pasó toda la noche en oración a Dios.

13 A nd when it was day, he called unto him his disciples; and of them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles:

Cuando se hizo de día, llamó a Sus discípulos y escogió doce de ellos, a los que también dio el nombre de apóstoles:

14 S imon (whom he also named Peter) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

Simón, a quien también llamó Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; Jacobo (Santiago) y Juan; Felipe y Bartolomé;

15 M atthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon called Zelotes

Mateo y Tomás; Jacobo (Santiago), hijo de Alfeo, y Simón, al que llamaban el Zelote;

16 a nd Judas the brother of James and Judas Iscariot, who also was the traitor.

Judas, hijo de Jacobo (Santiago), y Judas Iscariote, que llegó a ser traidor.

17 A nd he came down with them and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases;

Descendió con ellos y se detuvo en un lugar llano. Había una gran multitud de Sus discípulos y una gran muchedumbre del pueblo, de toda Judea, de Jerusalén y de la región costera de Tiro y Sidón,

18 a nd those that were tormented with unclean spirits were healed.

que habían ido para oír a Jesús y para ser sanados de sus enfermedades; y los que eran atormentados por espíritus inmundos eran curados.

19 A nd the whole multitude sought to touch him, for there went virtue out of him and healed them all.

Y toda la multitud procuraba tocar a Jesús, porque de El salía un poder que a todos sanaba. Las Bienaventuranzas

20 ¶ And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples and said, Blessed are the poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Volviendo su vista hacia Sus discípulos, decía: “Bienaventurados ustedes los pobres, porque de ustedes es el reino de Dios.

21 B lessed are those that hunger now, for ye shall be filled. Blessed are those that weep now, for ye shall laugh.

Bienaventurados ustedes los que ahora tienen hambre, porque serán saciados. Bienaventurados ustedes los que ahora lloran, porque reirán.

22 B lessed are ye when men shall hate you and when they shall separate you from their company and shall reproach you and cast out your name as evil for the sake of the Son of man.

Bienaventurados son ustedes cuando los hombres los aborrecen, cuando los apartan de sí, los colman de insultos y desechan su nombre como malo, por causa del Hijo del Hombre.

23 R ejoice ye in that day and leap for joy; for, behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers treated the prophets in the same manner.

Alégrense en ese día y salten de gozo, porque su recompensa es grande en el cielo, pues sus padres trataban de la misma manera a los profetas.

24 B ut woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

Pero ¡ay de ustedes los ricos! Porque ya están recibiendo todo su consuelo.

25 W oe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

¡Ay de ustedes, los que ahora están saciados! Porque tendrán hambre. ¡Ay de ustedes, los que ahora ríen! Porque se lamentarán y llorarán.

26 W oe unto you when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers treat the false prophets.

¡Ay de ustedes, cuando todos los hombres hablen bien de ustedes! Porque de la misma manera trataban sus padres a los falsos profetas. El Amor Verdadero y su Recompensa

27 ¶ But I say unto you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

“Pero a ustedes los que oyen, les digo: amen a sus enemigos; hagan bien a los que los aborrecen;

28 b less those that curse you, and pray for those who despitefully use you.

bendigan a los que los maldicen; oren por los que los insultan.

29 A nd unto the one that smites thee on the one cheek offer also the other, and to the one that takes away thy cloak defend not thy coat also.

Al que te hiera en la mejilla, preséntale también la otra; y al que te quite la capa, no le niegues tampoco la túnica.

30 G ive to everyone that asks of thee, and of the one that takes away thy goods ask them not to return them.

A todo el que te pida, dale, y al que te quite lo que es tuyo, no se lo reclames.

31 A nd as ye desire that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

Y así como quieran que los hombres les hagan a ustedes, hagan con ellos de la misma manera.

32 F or if ye love those who love you, what grace shall ye have? for sinners also love those that love them.

Si aman a los que los aman, ¿qué mérito tienen? Porque también los pecadores aman a los que los aman.

33 A nd if ye do good to those who do good to you, what grace shall ye have? for sinners also do even the same.

Si hacen bien a los que les hacen bien, ¿qué mérito tienen? Porque también los pecadores hacen lo mismo.

34 A nd if ye lend to those of whom ye hope to receive, what grace shall ye have? for sinners also lend to sinners to receive as much again.

Si prestan a aquéllos de quienes esperan recibir, ¿qué mérito tienen? También los pecadores prestan a los pecadores para recibir de ellos la misma cantidad.

35 B ut rather love ye your enemies and do good and lend, hoping for nothing again, and your reward shall be great; and ye shall be the sons of the Most High, for he is kind even unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Antes bien, amen a sus enemigos, y hagan bien, y presten no esperando nada a cambio, y su recompensa será grande, y serán hijos del Altísimo; porque El es bondadoso para con los ingratos y perversos.

36 B e ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Sean ustedes misericordiosos, así como su Padre es misericordioso. El Juicio Hacia los Demás

37 ¶ Judge not, and ye shall not be judged; condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned; forgive, and ye shall be forgiven;

“ No juzguen, y no serán juzgados; no condenen, y no serán condenados; perdonen, y serán perdonados.

38 g ive, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye measure out it shall be measured to you again.

Den, y les será dado; medida buena, apretada, remecida y rebosante, vaciarán en sus regazos. Porque con la medida con que midan, se les volverá a medir.”

39 A nd he spoke a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the pit?

Les dijo también una parábola: “¿Acaso puede un ciego guiar a otro ciego? ¿No caerán ambos en un hoyo ?

40 T he disciple is not above his master, but any one that is as the master shall be perfect.

Un discípulo no está por encima de su maestro; pero todo discípulo, después de que se ha preparado bien, será como su maestro.

41 A nd why dost thou behold the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but not perceive the beam that is in thine own eye?

¿Y por qué miras la mota que está en el ojo de tu hermano, y no te das cuenta de la viga que está en tu propio ojo?

42 O r how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself dost not behold the beam that is in thine own eye? Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.

¿O cómo puedes decir a tu hermano: ‘Hermano, déjame sacarte la mota que está en tu ojo,’ cuando tú mismo no ves la viga que está en tu ojo? ¡Hipócrita! Saca primero la viga de tu ojo y entonces verás con claridad para sacar la mota que está en el ojo de tu hermano.

43 F or a good tree does not bring forth corrupt fruit; neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Porque no hay árbol bueno que produzca fruto malo, ni a la inversa, árbol malo que produzca fruto bueno.

44 F or every tree is known by its own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush do they gather grapes.

Pues cada árbol por su fruto se conoce. Porque los hombres no recogen higos de los espinos, ni vendimian uvas de una zarza.

45 T he good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil, for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

El hombre bueno, del buen tesoro de su corazón saca lo que es bueno; y el hombre malo, del mal tesoro saca lo que es malo; porque de la abundancia del corazón habla su boca. Los Dos Cimientos

46 A nd why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

“¿Por qué ustedes Me llaman: ‘Señor, Señor,’ y no hacen lo que Yo digo?

47 W hosoever comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you to whom he is like:

Todo el que viene a Mí y oye Mis palabras y las pone en práctica, les mostraré a quién es semejante:

48 h e is like a man who built a house and dug deep and laid the foundation upon rock; and when the flood arose, the river beat vehemently upon that house and could not shake it, for it was founded upon rock.

es semejante a un hombre que al edificar una casa, cavó hondo y echó cimiento sobre la roca; y cuando vino una inundación, el torrente dio con fuerza contra aquella casa, pero no pudo moverla porque había sido bien construida.

49 B ut he that hears and does not do is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation against which the river beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Pero el que ha oído y no ha hecho nada, es semejante a un hombre que edificó una casa sobre tierra, sin echar cimiento; y el torrente dio con fuerza contra ella y al instante se desplomó, y fue grande la ruina de aquella casa.”
