1 ¶ The burden which Habakkuk the prophet saw.

Oráculo (Profecía) que tuvo en visión el profeta Habacuc.

2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear; and raise my voice unto thee because of the violence, and thou wilt not save?

¿Hasta cuándo, oh Señor, pediré ayuda, Y no escucharás ? Clamo a Ti: “¡Violencia!” Sin embargo Tú no salvas ?

3 W hy dost thou cause me to see iniquity and cause me to behold grievance and destruction and violence before me, in addition to those that raise up strife and contention?

¿Por qué me haces ver la iniquidad, Y me haces mirar la opresión? La destrucción y la violencia están delante de mí, Hay rencilla y surge la discordia.

4 T herefore the law is weakened, and the judgment does not go forth true: for the wicked compasses about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceeds.

Por eso no se cumple la ley Y nunca prevalece la justicia (el derecho). Porque el impío asedia al justo; Por eso sale pervertida la justicia.

5 ¶ Behold among the Gentiles and regard and wonder marvelously, for a work shall be done in your days which ye will not believe, though it be told you.

“¡Miren entre las naciones! ¡Observen! ¡Asómbrense, quédense atónitos! Porque haré una obra en sus días Que ustedes no la creerían si alguien se las contara.

6 F or, behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which march through the breadth of the earth to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.

“Porque voy a levantar a los Caldeos (Babilonios), Pueblo feroz e impetuoso, Que marcha por la anchura de la tierra Para apoderarse de moradas ajenas.

7 S he is terrible and dreadful: from her herself shall go forth their rights and their grandeur.

“Imponente y temible es; De él mismo proceden su justicia y su grandeza.

8 T heir horses shall be swifter than tigers and are sharper than the evening wolves, and their horsemen shall multiply themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as eagles that hasten to eat.

“Sus caballos son más veloces que leopardos Y más astutos que lobos al anochecer. Al galope vienen sus jinetes, Sus jinetes vienen de lejos, Vuelan como águila que se precipita a devorar.

9 A ll of her shall come for the prey, before their faces an east wind, and they shall gather the captives as the sand.

“Vienen todos ellos para hacer violencia, Su horda de rostros avanza, Recoge cautivos como arena.

10 A nd he shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto him, he shall deride every fortress and shall heap dust and take it.

“Se burla de los reyes, Y los gobernantes le son motivo de risa; Se ríe de toda fortaleza, Amontona escombros para tomarla.

11 T hen he shall become arrogant against God, and he shall pass ahead and shall be found guilty, imputing this his power unto his god.

“Entonces pasará como el viento y seguirá, Y se le tendrá por culpable, Porque hace de su poder su dios.”

12 ¶ Art thou not from the beginning, O LORD my God, my Holy One? we shall not die, O LORD, thou hast ordained him for judgment, and thou hast established him strong for chastisement.

¿No eres Tú desde la eternidad, Oh Señor, Dios mío, Santo mío ? No moriremos. Oh Señor, para juicio lo has puesto; Tú, oh Roca, lo has establecido para corrección.

13 T hou art of purer eyes than to behold evil and canst not look on iniquity: why dost thou look upon those that deal treacherously and hold thy tongue when the wicked devour the man that is more righteous than he?

Muy limpios son Tus ojos para mirar el mal, Y no puedes contemplar la opresión. ¿Por qué miras con agrado A los que proceden pérfidamente, Y guardas silencio cuando el impío devora Al que es más justo que él?

14 A nd dost make men as the fishes of the sea, as reptiles that have no lord?

¿Por qué has hecho a los hombres como los peces del mar, Como reptiles que no tienen jefe?

15 H e shall take up all of them with his hook; he shall catch them in his net and gather them in his drag: therefore, he shall rejoice and be glad.

A todos los saca con anzuelo el pueblo invasor, Los arrastra con su red Y los junta en su malla. Por eso se alegra y se regocija,

16 T herefore, he shall sacrifice unto his net and burn incense unto his drag because by them his portion is fat, and his food plenteous.

Por eso ofrece sacrificio a su red Y quema incienso a su malla, Pues gracias a ellas su pesca es abundante, Y suculenta su comida.

17 S hall he therefore empty his net, or have pity to stop slaying Gentiles continually?

¿Vaciará, pues, su red Y seguirá matando sin piedad a las naciones ?
