1 ¶ Let us, therefore, fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

Por tanto, temamos, no sea que permaneciendo aún la promesa de entrar en Su reposo, alguno de ustedes parezca no haberlo alcanzado.

2 F or unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them, but it did not profit those that heard the word without mixing it with faith.

Porque en verdad, a nosotros se nos ha anunciado las buenas nuevas, como también a ellos. Pero la palabra que ellos oyeron no les aprovechó por no ir acompañada por la fe en los que la oyeron.

3 ( For we who have believed do enter into the rest) as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Porque los que hemos creído entramos en ese reposo, tal como El ha dicho: “ Como jure en Mi ira: ‘no entraran en Mi reposo,’” aunque las obras de El estaban acabadas desde la fundación del mundo.

4 F or he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day like this, And God rested the seventh day from all his works.

Porque así ha dicho en cierto lugar acerca del séptimo día: “Y Dios reposo en el septimo dia de todas Sus obras;”

5 A nd in this place again, They shall not enter into my rest.

y otra vez en este pasaje: “no entraran en Mi reposo.”

6 S eeing, therefore, it remains that some must enter therein, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter in because of disobedience;

Por tanto, puesto que todavía falta que algunos entren en él, y aquéllos a quienes antes se les anunció las buenas nuevas no entraron por causa de su desobediencia (incredulidad),

7 A gain, he determines a certain day, saying, Today, by David so long a time afterward; as it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Dios otra vez fija un día: Hoy. Diciendo por medio de David después de mucho tiempo, como se ha dicho antes: “ Si ustedes oyen hoy Su voz, no endurezcan sus corazones.”

8 F or if Jesus had given them rest, then he would not afterward have spoken of another day.

Porque si Josué les hubiera dado reposo, Dios no habría hablado de otro día después de ése.

9 T here remains therefore a rest for the people of God.

Queda, por tanto, un reposo sagrado para el pueblo de Dios.

10 F or he that is entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Pues el que ha entrado a Su reposo, él mismo ha reposado de sus obras, como Dios reposó de las Suyas.

11 ¶ Let us therefore make haste to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

Por tanto, esforcémonos por entrar en ese reposo, no sea que alguien caiga siguiendo el mismo ejemplo de desobediencia. Poder de la Palabra de Dios

12 F or the word of God is alive and efficient and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Porque la palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más cortante que cualquier espada de dos filos. Penetra hasta la división del alma y del espíritu, de las coyunturas y los tuétanos, y es poderosa para discernir (juzgar) los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón.

13 N either is there any created thing that is not manifested in his presence, but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him of whom we speak.

No hay cosa creada oculta a Su vista, sino que todas las cosas están al descubierto y desnudas ante los ojos de Aquél a quien tenemos que dar cuenta. Jesús, el Gran Sumo Sacerdote

14 H aving, therefore, a great high priest who penetrated the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast this profession of our hope.

Teniendo, pues, un gran Sumo Sacerdote que trascendió los cielos, Jesús, el Hijo de Dios, retengamos nuestra fe.

15 F or we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Porque no tenemos un Sumo Sacerdote que no pueda compadecerse de nuestras flaquezas, sino Uno que ha sido tentado en todo como nosotros, pero sin pecado.

16 L et us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of his grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Por tanto, acerquémonos con confianza al trono de la gracia para que recibamos misericordia, y hallemos gracia para la ayuda oportuna.
