1 ¶ My little children, I write these things unto you, that ye sin not; and if anyone has sinned, we have an Advocate before the Father, Jesus, the righteous Christ;

Hijitos míos, les escribo estas cosas para que no pequen. Y si alguien peca, tenemos Abogado (Intercesor) para con el Padre, a Jesucristo el Justo.

2 a nd he is the reconciliation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

El mismo es la propiciación por nuestros pecados, y no sólo por los nuestros, sino también por los del mundo entero.

3 ¶ And in this we do know that we have known him if we keep his commandments.

Y en esto sabemos que Lo hemos llegado a conocer: si guardamos Sus mandamientos.

4 H e that says, I have known him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

El que dice: “Yo Lo he llegado a conocer,” y no guarda Sus mandamientos, es un mentiroso y la verdad no está en él.

5 B ut whosoever keeps his word, in him verily is the charity of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

Pero el que guarda Su palabra, en él verdaderamente se ha perfeccionado el amor de Dios. En esto sabemos que estamos en El.

6 H e that says he abides in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

El que dice que permanece en El, debe andar como El anduvo. Mandamiento sobre el Amor Fraternal

7 ¶ Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

Amados, no les escribo un mandamiento nuevo, sino un mandamiento antiguo, que han tenido desde el principio. El mandamiento antiguo es la palabra que han oído.

8 A gain, a new commandment I write unto you, which is the truth in him and in you, because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines.

Por otra parte, les escribo un mandamiento nuevo, el cual es verdadero en El y en ustedes, porque las tinieblas van pasando, y la Luz verdadera (Jesucristo) ya está alumbrando.

9 H e that says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.

El que dice que está en la Luz y aborrece a su hermano, está aún en tinieblas.

10 H e that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.

El que ama a su hermano, permanece en la Luz y no hay causa de tropiezo en él.

11 B ut he that hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness and does not know where he goes, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Pero el que aborrece a su hermano, está en tinieblas y anda en tinieblas, y no sabe adónde va, porque las tinieblas han cegado sus ojos. No Amen lo que Está en el Mundo

12 ¶ I write unto you, little children, that your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.

Les escribo a ustedes, hijos, porque sus pecados les han sido perdonados por el nombre de Cristo.

13 I write unto you, fathers, that ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, that ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, that ye have known the Father.

Les escribo a ustedes, padres, porque conocen a Aquél que ha sido desde el principio. Les escribo a ustedes, jóvenes, porque han vencido al maligno. Les he escrito a ustedes, niños, porque conocen al Padre.

14 I have written unto you, fathers, that ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, that ye are strong and the word of God abides in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

Les he escrito a ustedes, padres, porque conocen a Aquél que ha sido desde el principio. Les he escrito a ustedes, jóvenes, porque son fuertes y la palabra de Dios permanece en ustedes y han vencido al maligno.

15 L ove not the world neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the charity of the Father is not in him.

No amen al mundo ni las cosas que están en el mundo. Si alguien ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él.

16 F or all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Porque todo lo que hay en el mundo, la pasión de la carne, la pasión de los ojos, y la arrogancia de la vida (las riquezas), no proviene del Padre, sino del mundo.

17 A nd the world passes away and the lust thereof, but he that does the will of God abides for ever.

El mundo pasa, y también sus pasiones, pero el que hace la voluntad de Dios permanece para siempre. Advertencias contra el Anticristo

18 ¶ Little children, it is the last hour, and as ye have heard that the antichrist comes, likewise there are also beginning to be many antichrists, by which we know that it is the last time.

Hijitos, es la última hora, y así como oyeron que el anticristo viene, también ahora han surgido muchos anticristos. Por eso sabemos que es la última hora.

19 T hey went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us; but this happened that it might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

Ellos salieron de nosotros, pero en realidad no eran de nosotros, porque si hubieran sido de nosotros, habrían permanecido con nosotros. Pero salieron, a fin de que se manifestara que no todos son de nosotros.

20 ¶ But ye have the anointing of the Holy One, and ye know all things.

Pero ustedes tienen la unción (son ungidos) del Santo, y todos ustedes lo saben.

21 I have not written unto you as if ye ignore the truth, but as unto those that know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

No les he escrito porque ignoren la verdad, sino porque la conocen y porque ninguna mentira procede de la verdad.

22 W ho is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This same is antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son.

¿Quién es el mentiroso, sino el que niega que Jesús es el Cristo (el Mesías) ? Este es el anticristo, el que niega al Padre y al Hijo.

23 W hosoever denies the Son, the same does not have the Father. Whosoever confesses the Son, has the Father also.

Todo aquél que niega al Hijo tampoco tiene al Padre; el que confiesa al Hijo tiene también al Padre.

24 L et that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. For if that which ye have heard from the beginning shall abide in you, ye also shall continue to abide in the Son and in the Father.

En cuanto a ustedes, que permanezca en ustedes lo que oyeron desde el principio. Si en ustedes permanece lo que oyeron desde el principio, ustedes también permanecerán en el Hijo y en el Padre.

25 A nd this is the promise that he has promised us, even eternal life.

Y ésta es la promesa que El mismo nos hizo (nos prometió): la vida eterna.

26 T hese things I have written unto you concerning those that seduce you.

Les he escrito estas cosas respecto a los que están tratando de engañarlos.

27 B ut the anointing which ye have received of him abides in you, and ye do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you of all things and is truth, and is no lie; and even as it has taught you, abide ye in him.

En cuanto a ustedes, la unción que recibieron de El permanece en ustedes, y no tienen necesidad de que nadie les enseñe. Pero así como Su unción les enseña acerca de todas las cosas, y es verdadera y no mentira, y así como les ha enseñado, ustedes permanecen en El.

28 ¶ And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

Y ahora, hijos, permanezcan en El, para que cuando se manifieste, tengamos confianza y no nos apartemos de El avergonzados en Su venida.

29 I f ye know that he is righteous, also know that any one that does righteousness is born of him.

Si saben que El es justo, saben también que todo el que hace justicia es nacido de El.
