1 ¶ And Pashur the priest, the son of Immer, who presided as prince in the house of the LORD, heard Jeremiah who prophesied these things.

Cuando el sacerdote Pasur, hijo de Imer, que era el oficial principal en la casa del Señor, oyó a Jeremías profetizar estas cosas,

2 T hen Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were at the gate of Benjamin on the high place, which is in the house of the LORD.

hizo azotar al profeta Jeremías y lo puso en el cepo que estaba en la parte superior de la Puerta de Benjamín, la cual conducía a la casa del Señor.

3 A nd it came to pass on the morrow that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said unto him: The LORD has not called thy name Pashur, but Magormissabib.

Al día siguiente, cuando Pasur soltó a Jeremías del cepo, Jeremías le dijo: “No es Pasur el nombre con que el Señor te llama ahora, sino Magor Misabib (terror por todas partes).

4 F or thus hath the LORD said, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself and to all those that love thee well; and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it; and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall smite them with the sword.

Porque así dice el Señor: ‘Te voy a convertir en terror para ti mismo y para todos tus amigos; ellos caerán por la espada de tus enemigos, y tus ojos lo verán. Entregaré a todo Judá en manos del rey de Babilonia, y él los llevará como desterrados a Babilonia y los matará a espada.

5 M oreover I will deliver all the strength of this city and all its labours and all its precious things and all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give into the hand of their enemies, who shall spoil them and take them and carry them to Babylon.

También entregaré toda la riqueza de esta ciudad, todos sus productos y todas las cosas de gran valor, aun todos los tesoros de los reyes de Judá, los entregaré en manos de sus enemigos, que los saquearán, los tomarán y se los llevarán a Babilonia.

6 A nd thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity; and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die and shalt be buried there, thou and all those who love thee well, unto whom thou hast prophesied with lies.

Y tú, Pasur, con todos los moradores de tu casa, irás al cautiverio y entrarás en Babilonia; allí morirás y allí serás enterrado, tú y todos tus amigos a quienes has profetizado falsamente.’” Lamento del Profeta

7 ¶ O LORD, thou hast seduced me, and I was seduced; thou wert stronger than I and hast overcome me; I am in derision daily; every one mocks me.

Me persuadiste, oh Señor, y quedé persuadido; Fuiste más fuerte que yo y prevaleciste. He sido el hazmerreír cada día; Todos se burlan de mí.

8 F or since I spoke out, I raised my voice crying, Violence and destruction; because the word of the LORD has been a reproach unto me and a derision, daily.

Porque cada vez que hablo, grito; Proclamo: ¡Violencia, destrucción! Pues la palabra del Señor ha venido a ser para mí Oprobio y escarnio cada día.

9 A nd I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But he was in my heart as a burning fire and within my bones; I tried to forbear, and I could not.

Pero si digo: “No Lo recordaré Ni hablaré más en Su nombre,” Esto se convierte dentro de mí como fuego ardiente Encerrado en mis huesos. Hago esfuerzos por contener lo, Y no puedo.

10 F or I heard the murmuring of many, fear on every side, Report, and we will report it. All my friends watched to see if I would stumble. Peradventure he will deceive himself, they said, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

Porque he oído las murmuraciones de muchos: “¡Terror por todas partes! ¡Denúncien lo, vamos a denunciarlo!” Todos mis amigos de confianza, Esperando mi caída, dicen: “Tal vez será persuadido, prevaleceremos contra él Y tomaremos nuestra venganza contra él.”

11 B ut the LORD is with me as a powerful giant; therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper; they shall have everlasting confusion which shall never be forgotten.

Pero el Señor está conmigo como campeón temible; Por tanto, mis perseguidores tropezarán y no prevalecerán. Quedarán muy avergonzados, pues no triunfaron, Tendrán afrenta perpetua que nunca será olvidada.

12 O LORD of the hosts, who examines that which is just, who seest the kidneys and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them; for unto thee I have opened my cause.

Oh Señor de los ejércitos, que pruebas al justo, Que ves las entrañas y el corazón, Vea yo Tu venganza sobre ellos, Pues a Ti he encomendado mi causa.

13 S ing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD; for he has delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.

Canten al Señor, alaben al Señor, Porque ha librado el alma del pobre De manos de los malvados.

14 ¶ Cursed be the day in which I was born; do not let the day in which my mother bore me be blessed.

Maldito el día en que nací; El día en que mi madre me dio a luz no sea bendito.

15 C ursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.

Maldito el hombre que dio la noticia A mi padre, diciéndole: “¡Te ha nacido un hijo varón!” Haciéndolo muy feliz.

16 A nd let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew and did not repent; and let him hear the cry in the morning and the shouting at noontide

Sea ese hombre como las ciudades Que el Señor destruyó sin piedad; Oiga gritos de mañana Y alaridos al mediodía,

17 b ecause he did not slay me in the womb, and my mother would have been my grave, and her womb perpetual conception.

Porque no me mató en el vientre Para que mi madre hubiera sido mi sepultura, Y su vientre embarazado para siempre.

18 W hy did I come forth out of the womb? To see labour and sorrow that my days should be consumed with shame?

¿Por qué salí del vientre Para ver pena y aflicción, Y que acaben en vergüenza mis días ?
