1 ¶ Then there was a famine in the days of David for three consecutive years, and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is because of Saul and because of his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

En los días de David hubo hambre por tres años consecutivos, y David buscó la presencia del Señor. Y el Señor dijo: “Es por causa de Saúl y de su casa sangrienta, porque él dio muerte a los Gabaonitas.”

2 A nd the king called the Gibeonites and said unto them: (now the Gibeonites were not of the sons of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the sons of Israel had sworn unto them, and Saul had sought to slay them in his zeal for the sons of Israel and Judah).

Y llamó el rey a los Gabaonitas y les habló. (Los Gabaonitas no eran de los Israelitas, sino del remanente de los Amorreos, y los Israelitas habían hecho un pacto con ellos, pero Saúl había procurado matarlos en su celo por los Israelitas y los de Judá.)

3 T herefore, David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? And with what shall I make reconciliation that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?

Dijo, pues, David a los Gabaonitas: “¿Qué debo hacer por ustedes? ¿Y cómo haré restitución para que bendigan la heredad del Señor ?”

4 A nd the Gibeonites replied unto him, We have no quarrel regarding silver nor gold with Saul, nor with his house; neither do we desire that anyone in Israel should die. And he said unto them, What ye shall say that will I do for you.

Entonces los Gabaonitas le respondieron: “No nos importa la plata ni el oro de Saúl o de su casa, ni nos corresponde dar muerte a ningún hombre en Israel.” “Haré por ustedes lo que digan,” les dijo el rey.

5 A nd they answered the king, The man that consumed us and that devised against us, let us destroy him that nothing of him remains in any of the borders of Israel.

Y ellos dijeron al rey: “Del hombre que nos consumió y que trató de exterminarnos para que no quedáramos dentro del territorio de Israel,

6 L et seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will disjoint them, hanging them from a tree, unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.

que nos entreguen siete hombres de entre sus hijos, y los ahorcaremos delante del Señor en Guibeá de Saúl, el elegido del Señor.” “ Los entregaré,” dijo el rey.

7 B ut the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the LORD’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

Pero el rey perdonó a Mefiboset, hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, a causa del pacto del Señor que había entre ellos, entre David y Jonatán, hijo de Saúl.

8 B ut the king took the two sons of Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, whom she gave birth unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth, and five sons of Michal, the daughter of Saul, whom she had given birth unto Adriel, the son of Barzillai, the Meholathite;

El rey tomó a los dos hijos de Rizpa, hija de Aja, Armoni y Mefiboset, que ella había dado a Saúl, y a los cinco hijos de Merab, hija de Saúl, que ella había dado a Adriel, hijo de Barzilai el Meholatita,

9 a nd he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they disjointed them hanging them from a tree in the hill before the LORD; and they fell all seven together and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.

Entonces los entregó en manos de los Gabaonitas, que los ahorcaron en el monte delante del Señor, de modo que los siete cayeron a la vez. Les dieron muerte en los primeros días de la cosecha, al comienzo de la cosecha de la cebada.

10 ¶ And Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, took sackcloth and spread it upon the rock from the beginning of harvest until water rained upon them out of heaven and allowed neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day nor the beasts of the field by night.

Y Rizpa, hija de Aja, tomó tela de cilicio y lo tendió para sí sobre la roca, desde el comienzo de la cosecha hasta que llovió del cielo sobre ellos; y no permitió que las aves del cielo se posaran sobre ellos de día ni las fieras del campo de noche.

11 A nd it was told David what Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.

Cuando le contaron a David lo que había hecho Rizpa, hija de Aja, concubina de Saúl,

12 T hen David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan, his son, from the men of Jabeshgilead, who had stolen them from the plaza of Bethshan where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa;

David fue y recogió los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo, que estaban en posesión de los hombres de Jabes de Galaad, quienes los habían robado de la plaza de Bet Sán, donde los Filisteos los habían colgado el día que los Filisteos mataron a Saúl en Gilboa.

13 a nd he brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan, his son; and they gathered the bones of those that had been disjointed by being hanged from a tree,

14 a nd they buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan, his son, in the land of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father; and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.

Entonces sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y de su hijo Jonatán en tierra de Benjamín, en Zela, en el sepulcro de su padre Cis, e hicieron todo lo que el rey había ordenado. Después de esto Dios fue movido a misericordia para con la tierra. Guerras contra los Filisteos

15 ¶ And the Philistines made war again with Israel; and David went down, and his slaves with him, and fought against the Philistines; and David became weary.

16 A nd Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of the giant, and the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of brass in weight, was girded with a new sword and had determined to kill David.

17 B ut Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, helped David, and smote the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore unto him, saying, From now on thou shalt not go out with us to battle that thou not quench the light of Israel.

pero Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, vino en su ayuda, e hirió al Filisteo y lo mató. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron: “Nunca más saldrá a la batalla con nosotros, para que no apague la lámpara de Israel.”

18 A nd after this, there was a second war with the Philistines at Gob; then Sibbechai, the Hushathite, slew Saph, who was of the sons of the giant.

Después de esto otra vez hubo guerra en Gob contra los Filisteos. Entonces Sibecai el Husatita mató a Saf, que era de los descendientes del gigante.

19 A nd there was another war in Gob with the Philistines where Elhanan, the son of Jaareoregim of Bethlehem, slew Goliath, the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

20 A nd after that there was another war in Gath where there was a man of great stature, that had six fingers on every hand, and six toes on every foot, twenty-four in number; and he also was of the sons of the giant.

21 A nd when he dishonoured Israel, Jonathan, the son of Shimea, the brother of David, slew him.

Cuando desafió a Israel, lo mató Jonatán, hijo de Simea, hermano de David.

22 T hese four were born to the giant in Gath and fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his slaves.

Estos cuatro descendían del gigante en Gat y cayeron por mano de David y por mano de sus siervos.
