1 ¶ I charge thee, therefore, before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead in his appearing and in his kingdom:

2 P reach the word; be instant in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Predica la palabra. Insiste a tiempo y fuera de tiempo. Amonesta, reprende, exhorta con mucha (toda) paciencia e instrucción.

3 F or the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, they shall heap up unto themselves teachers who shall speak to them according to their own lusts,

Porque vendrá tiempo cuando no soportarán la sana doctrina, sino que teniendo comezón de oídos, conforme a sus propios deseos, acumularán para sí maestros,

4 a nd thus they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall return unto fables.

y apartarán sus oídos de la verdad, y se volverán a los mitos (a las fábulas).

5 B ut watch thou in all things, labour, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry.

Pero tú, sé sobrio en todas las cosas, sufre penalidades, haz el trabajo de un evangelista, cumple tu ministerio.

6 F or I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my release is at hand.

Porque yo ya estoy para ser derramado como una ofrenda de libación, y el tiempo de mi partida ha llegado.

7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith;

He peleado la buena batalla, he terminado la carrera, he guardado la fe.

8 f rom now on there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all those also that have loved his appearing.

pues Demas me ha abandonado, habiendo amado este mundo presente, y se ha ido a Tesalónica. Crescente se fue a Galacia y Tito a Dalmacia.

Sólo Lucas está conmigo. Toma a Marcos y tráelo contigo, porque me es útil para el ministerio.

13 T he cloak that I left at Troas in the house of Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee and the books, but especially the parchments.

14 A lexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

Alejandro, el calderero, me hizo mucho daño; el Señor le retribuirá conforme a sus hechos.

15 o f whom be thou ware also; for he has greatly resisted our words.

Tú también cuídate de él, pues se opone vigorosamente a nuestra enseñanza (nuestras palabras).

16 ¶ At my first answer no one stood with me, but all men forsook me: let it not be imputed unto them.

En mi primera defensa nadie estuvo a mi lado, sino que todos me abandonaron; que no se les tenga en cuenta.

17 B ut the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, that by me the preaching might be fully known and that all the Gentiles might hear, and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

Pero el Señor estuvo conmigo y me fortaleció, a fin de que por mí se cumpliera cabalmente la proclamación del mensaje y que todos los Gentiles oyeran. Y fui librado de la boca del león.

18 A nd the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work and will save me for his heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
