1 ¶ For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob and will yet choose Israel and cause them to rest in their own land; and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.

Cuando el Señor tenga compasión de Jacob, y escoja de nuevo a Israel y los establezca en su propia tierra, entonces se les juntarán extranjeros que se unirán a la casa de Jacob.

2 A nd the peoples shall take them and bring them to their place; and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for slaves and hand maids; and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

Los pueblos los tomaran y los llevarán a su lugar, y la casa de Israel los poseerá como siervos y siervas en la tierra del Señor. Tomarán cautivos a los que los habían llevado cautivos, y dominarán sobre sus opresores.

3 A nd it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow and from thy fear and from the hard bondage in which thou wast made to serve,

Y el día en que el Señor te dé descanso de tu dolor, de tu desesperación y de la dura servidumbre a la que fuiste sometido,

4 ¶ that thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon and say, How has the oppressor ceased! The city that covets gold has ceased!

pronunciarás esta burla contra el rey de Babilonia, y dirás: “¡Cómo se ha acabado el opresor, Y cómo ha cesado el furor!

5 T he LORD has broken the staff of the wicked and the sceptre of the rulers

El Señor ha quebrado el báculo de los impíos, El cetro de los gobernantes

6 w ho smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the Gentiles in anger and who did not defend the persecuted.

Que golpeaba con furia a los pueblos con golpes incesantes, Que sometía con ira a las naciones en incesante persecución.

7 T he whole earth is at rest and is quiet; they sing praises.

Toda la tierra está en reposo, está tranquila. Prorrumpe en gritos de júbilo.

8 E ven the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

Aun los cipreses y los cedros del Líbano se alegran a causa de ti, y dicen: ‘Desde que fuiste derribado, no ha subido talador contra nosotros.’

9 S heol from beneath is aghast at thee; it stirs up the dead to meet thee at thy coming; it has raised up from their thrones all the princes of the earth, all the kings of the Gentiles.

El Seol (región de los muertos), desde abajo, se estremece por ti al recibirte en tu venida; Por ti despierta a los espíritus de los muertos, a todos los jefes de la tierra; Levanta de sus tronos a todos los reyes de las naciones.

10 T hey all shall shout and say unto thee, Art thou also become sick as we? Art thou become like unto us?

Todos ellos responderán y te dirán: ‘También tú has sido debilitado como nosotros, Has venido a ser semejante a nosotros.

11 T hy pride is brought down to Sheol, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

Han sido derribadas al Seol Tu ostentación y la música de tus arpas. Debajo de ti las larvas se extienden como cama, Y los gusanos son tu cobertura.’

12 H ow art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, who didst claim the Gentiles as an inheritance!

¡Cómo has caído del cielo, Oh lucero de la mañana, hijo de la aurora! Has sido derribado por tierra, Tú que debilitabas a las naciones.

13 T hou who said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven; upon high next to the stars of God I will exalt my throne: and I will sit upon the mount of the testimony and in the sides of the north;

Pero tú dijiste en tu corazón: ‘Subiré al cielo, Por encima de las estrellas de Dios levantaré mi trono, Y me sentaré en el monte de la asamblea, En el extremo norte.

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Subiré sobre las alturas de las nubes, Me haré semejante al Altísimo.’

15 Y et thou shalt be cast down to Sheol, to the sides of the pit.

Sin embargo, serás derribado al Seol, A lo más remoto del abismo.

16 T hose that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble; that shook the kingdoms;

Los que te vean te observarán, Te contemplarán, y dirán: ‘¿Es éste aquel hombre que hacía temblar la tierra, Que sacudía los reinos,

17 t hat made the world as a wilderness and destroyed the cities thereof; that did not open the prison to his prisoners?

Que puso al mundo como un desierto, Que derribó sus ciudades, Que a sus prisioneros no abrió la cárcel ?’

18 A ll the kings of the Gentiles, even all of them, lie in glory, each one in his own house.

Todos los reyes de las naciones, Todos ellos yacen con gloria, Cada uno en su sepulcro.

19 B ut thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that went down to the bottom of the pit, as a carcase trodden under feet.

Pero tú has sido echado de tu sepulcro Como vástago desechado, Como ropa de muertos traspasados a espada, Que descienden a las piedras de la fosa, Como cadáver pisoteado.

20 T hou shalt not be numbered with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land and slain thy people; the seed of evildoers shall not be forever.

No estarás unido con ellos en el sepelio, Porque has destruido tu tierra, Has matado a tu pueblo. Que no se nombre jamás la descendencia de los malhechores.

21 P repare slaughter for his sons for the iniquity of their fathers that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

Preparen para sus hijos el matadero A causa de la iniquidad de sus padres. Que no se levanten y tomen posesión de la tierra, Y llenen de ciudades la faz del mundo.”

22 F or I will rise up upon them, saith the LORD of the hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name and remnant and son and nephew, saith the LORD.

“Yo me levantaré contra ellos,” declara el Señor de los ejércitos, “y cortaré de Babilonia nombre y sobrevivientes, descendencia y posteridad,” declara el Señor.

23 I will also make it a possession for the bittern and pools of water, and I will sweep it with brooms of destruction, saith the LORD of the hosts.

“La convertiré en posesión de erizos y en aguas estancadas, y la barreré con la escoba de la destrucción,” declara el Señor de los ejércitos. Profecía sobre Asiria y Filistea

24 ¶ The LORD of the hosts has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:

El Señor de los ejércitos ha jurado: “Ciertamente, tal como lo había pensado, así ha sucedido; tal como lo había planeado, así se cumplirá:

25 T hat I will break the Assyrian in my land and upon my mountains tread him under foot; then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

Quebrantaré a Asiria en Mi tierra, y la pisotearé sobre Mis montes. Entonces su yugo se les quitará de encima, y su carga será quitada de sus hombros.

26 T his is the counsel that is purposed upon the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the Gentiles.

Este es el plan acordado contra toda la tierra, y ésta es la mano que está extendida contra todas las naciones.

27 F or the LORD of the hosts has purposed, and who shall disannul it? His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

Si el Señor de los ejércitos lo ha determinado, ¿quién puede frustrar lo ? Y en cuanto a Su mano extendida, ¿quién podrá apartarla ?”

28 I n the year that King Ahaz died was this burden.

El año en que murió el rey Acaz, vino este oráculo (esta profecía):

29 R ejoice not thou, whole Philistia, because thou didst break the rod of him that smote thee: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

“No te alegres, toda tú, Filistea, De que la vara que te hirió esté quebrada; Pues de la raíz de la serpiente saldrá una víbora, Y su fruto será serpiente voladora.

30 A nd the firstborn of the poor shall be fed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will cause thy root to die of famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.

Los más débiles comerán, Y los necesitados se acostarán seguros. Pero haré morir de hambre tu raíz, Y ésta matará tus sobrevivientes.

31 H owl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Philistia, art dissolved; for there shall come from the north a smoke, and not one shall be left in thy assemblies.

Gime, puerta; clama, ciudad; Derrítete (Desanímate), toda tú, Filistea. Porque del norte viene humo, Y nadie de sus filas se queda atrás.

32 W hat shall one then answer the messengers of the Gentiles? That the LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people shall have confidence.

¿Cómo, pues, se responderá a los mensajeros de la nación ?: Que el Señor ha fundado a Sion, Y en ella buscarán refugio los afligidos de Su pueblo.”
