1 L os Filisteos tomaron el arca de Dios y la llevaron de Ebenezer a Asdod.

¶ And the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.

2 E ntonces los Filisteos tomaron el arca de Dios y la introdujeron en el templo de Dagón, y la pusieron junto a Dagón.

When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon.

3 A la mañana siguiente, cuando los de Asdod se levantaron temprano, vieron que Dagón había caído rostro en tierra delante del arca del Señor. Así que tomaron a Dagón y lo pusieron otra vez en su lugar.

And when those of Ashdod arose early in the morning, behold, Dagon had fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon and set him in his place again.

4 P ero al levantarse temprano al día siguiente, otra vez Dagón había caído rostro en tierra delante del arca del Señor. Y la cabeza de Dagón y las dos palmas de sus manos estaban cortadas sobre el umbral; sólo el tronco le quedaba a Dagón.

And when they arose early on the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD, and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

5 P or tanto, hasta hoy, ni los sacerdotes de Dagón ni ninguno de los que entran en el templo de Dagón, pisan el umbral de Dagón en Asdod.

Therefore, neither the priests of Dagon nor any that come into Dagon’s temple tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.

6 Y la mano del Señor se hizo pesada sobre los de Asdod, y los desoló y los hirió con tumores, tanto a Asdod como a sus territorios.

¶ But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon those of Ashdod, and he destroyed them and smote them with hemorrhoids in Ashdod and within all their borders.

7 C uando los hombres de Asdod vieron lo que les sucedía, dijeron: “El arca del Dios de Israel no debe quedar con nosotros, pues su mano es dura sobre nosotros y sobre Dagón nuestro dios.”

And when they saw this, those of Ashdod said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us, for his hand is sore upon us and upon Dagon our god.

8 A sí que enviaron a buscar e hicieron venir a todos los príncipes de los Filisteos, y les dijeron: “¿Qué haremos con el arca del Dios de Israel?” “Que se traslade el arca del Dios de Israel a Gat,” respondieron ellos. Y trasladaron el arca del Dios de Israel.

They sent, therefore, and gathered all the cardinals of the Philistines unto themselves and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be removed unto Gath. And they removed the ark of the God of Israel there.

9 P ero después que la habían trasladado, la mano del Señor estuvo contra la ciudad causando gran confusión; e hirió a los hombres de la ciudad, desde el menor hasta el mayor, saliéndoles tumores.

And it came to pass that after they had removed it, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction. And he smote the men of that city from the smallest to the greatest, and they broke out with hemorrhoids.

10 E ntonces enviaron el arca de Dios a Ecrón. Y sucedió que cuando el arca de Dios llegó a Ecrón, los Ecronitas clamaron y dijeron: “Han traído el arca del Dios de Israel hasta nosotros para matarnos a nosotros y a nuestro pueblo.”

Therefore, they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And when the ark of God came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have removed the ark of the God of Israel unto us to kill me and my people.

11 P or tanto, mandaron a reunir a todos los príncipes de los Filisteos, y les dijeron: “Saquen de aquí el arca del Dios de Israel, y que vuelva a su sitio, para que no nos mate a nosotros y a nuestro pueblo.” Porque había un pánico mortal por toda la ciudad; la mano de Dios se hizo muy pesada allí.

So they sent and gathered together all the cardinals of the Philistines and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it not kill me and my people, for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city, and the hand of God had become very heavy there.

12 Y los hombres que no murieron fueron heridos con tumores, y el clamor de la ciudad subió hasta el cielo.

And those that did not die were smitten with the hemorrhoids, and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
