1 A conteció a la vuelta del año, en el tiempo en que suelen los reyes salir a la guerra, que Joab sacó las fuerzas del ejército, y destruyó la tierra de los hijos de Amón, y vino y sitió a Rabá. Mas David estaba en Jerusalén; y Joab batió a Rabá, y la destruyó.

¶ And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army and destroyed the country of the sons of Ammon and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah and destroyed it.

2 Y tomó David la corona de encima de la cabeza del rey de Rabá, y la halló de peso de un talento de oro, y había en ella piedras preciosas; y fue puesta sobre la cabeza de David. Además de esto sacó de la ciudad un enorme botín.

And David took the crown of their king from off his head and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David’s head. And in addition to this he took exceeding much spoil out of the city.

3 S acó también al pueblo que estaba en ella, y lo puso a trabajar con sierras, con trillos de hierro y con hachas. Lo mismo hizo David a todas las ciudades de los hijos de Amón. Y volvió David con todo el pueblo a Jerusalén.

And he brought out the people that were in it and dominated them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the sons of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

4 D espués de esto aconteció que se levantó guerra en Gézer contra los filisteos; y Sibecay husatita mató a Sipay, de los descendientes de los gigantes; y fueron humillados.

¶ And it came to pass after this that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite, slew Sippai, of the lineage of the giant; and they were subdued.

5 V olvió a levantarse guerra contra los filisteos; y Elhanán hijo de Jaír mató a Lahmí, hermano de Goliat geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como un rodillo de telar.

And there was war again with the Philistines, and Elhanan, the son of Jair, slew Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver’s beam.

6 Y volvió a haber guerra en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura, el cual tenía seis dedos en pies y manos, veinticuatro en total; y era descendiente de los gigantes.

And yet again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six on each hand, and six on each foot; and he also was the son of the giant.

7 E ste hombre injurió a Israel, pero lo mató Jonatán, hijo de Simeá hermano de David.

But when he dishonoured Israel, Jonathan, the son of Shimea, David’s brother slew him.

8 É stos eran descendientes de los gigantes en Gat, los cuales cayeron por mano de David y de sus siervos.

These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his slaves.
