1 C uando se levante en medio de ti algún profeta, o vidente en sueños, y te anuncie una señal o prodigio,

¶ When there arises among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives thee a sign or a wonder,

2 y si se cumple la señal o prodigio que él te anunció, y entonces te dice: Vamos en pos de otros dioses que tú no conoces, y sirvámosles;

and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them,

3 n o darás oído a las palabras de tal profeta, ni al tal vidente en sueños; porque Jehová vuestro Dios os está probando, para saber si amáis a Jehová vuestro Dios con todo vuestro corazón, y con toda vuestra alma.

thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God proves you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

4 E n pos de Jehová vuestro Dios andaréis; a él temeréis, guardaréis sus mandamientos y escucharéis su voz, a él serviréis, y a él seguiréis.

Ye shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him and keep his commandments and hear his voice, and ye shall serve him and cleave unto him.

5 T al profeta o adivino de sueños ha de ser muerto, por cuanto aconsejó rebelión contra Jehová vuestro Dios que te sacó de tierra de Egipto y te rescató de casa de servidumbre, y trató de apartarte del camino por el cual Jehová tu Dios te mandó que anduvieses; y así quitarás el mal de en medio de ti.

And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death because he has spoken rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and ransomed you out of the house of slavery, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

6 S i te incita tu hermano, hijo de tu madre, o tu hijo, tu hija, tu mujer o tu amigo íntimo, diciendo en secreto: Vamos y sirvamos a dioses ajenos, que ni tú ni tus padres conocisteis,

¶ If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son or thy daughter or the wife of thy bosom or thy friend who is as thine own soul should entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou nor thy fathers have known,

7 d e los dioses de los pueblos que están en vuestros alrededores, cerca de ti o lejos de ti, desde un extremo a otro de la tierra;

namely, of the gods of the peoples who are round about you, near unto thee or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth,

8 n o consentirás con él, ni le prestarás oído; ni tu ojo le compadecerá, ni le tendrás misericordia, ni lo encubrirás,

thou shalt not consent with him nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him; neither shalt thou have compassion; neither shalt thou conceal him,

9 s ino que lo matarás; tu mano se alzará primero sobre él para matarle, y después la mano de todo el pueblo.

but thou must kill him; thy hand shall be first upon him to put him to death and afterwards the hand of all the people.

10 L e apedrearás hasta que muera, por cuanto procuró apartarte de Jehová tu Dios, que te sacó de tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre;

And thou must stone him with stones, and he shall die because he has sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt from the house of slavery;

11 p ara que todo Israel oiga, y tema, y no vuelva a hacer en medio de ti cosa semejante a ésta.

so that all Israel shall hear and fear and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.

12 S i oyes que se dice de alguna de tus ciudades que Jehová tu Dios te da para vivir en ellas,

¶ If thou shalt hear in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God has given thee to dwell there, that it is said,

13 q ue han salido de en medio de ti hombres impíos que han instigado a los moradores de su ciudad, diciendo: Vamos y sirvamos a dioses ajenos, que vosotros no conocisteis;

certain men, the sons of Belial, are gone out from among you and have incited the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known,

14 t ú inquirirás, y buscarás y preguntarás con diligencia; y si pareciere verdad, si se comprueba que tal abominación se hizo en medio de ti,

then shalt thou enquire and search and ask diligently; and, behold, if it is the truth and the thing certain that such abomination is wrought among you,

15 i rremisiblemente herirás a filo de espada a los moradores de aquella ciudad, destruyéndola con todo lo que en ella haya, y también matarás sus ganados a filo de espada.

thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly with all that is therein and the beasts thereof, with the edge of the sword.

16 Y juntarás todo su botín en medio de la plaza, y consumirás con fuego la ciudad y todo su botín, todo ello, como holocausto a Jehová tu Dios, y llegará a ser un montón de ruinas para siempre; nunca más será edificada.

And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of its plaza and shalt burn the city with fire and all the spoil thereof, all of it, unto the LORD thy God; and it shall be a heap for ever; it shall never be built again.

17 Y no se pegará a tu mano nada del anatema, para que Jehová se aparte del ardor de su ira, y tenga de ti misericordia, y tenga compasión de ti, y te multiplique, como lo juró a tus padres,

And none of the anathema shall cleave to thine hand that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger and show thee mercy and have compassion upon thee and multiply thee, as he has sworn unto thy fathers,

18 c uando obedezcas a la voz de Jehová tu Dios, guardando todos sus mandamientos que yo te mando hoy, para hacer lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová tu Dios.

when thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, keeping all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.
