1 S ubió, pues, Abram de Egipto hacia el Négueb, él y su mujer, con todo lo que tenía, y con él Lot.

¶ Thus Abram went up out of Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had and Lot with him into the Negev.

2 Y Abram era riquísimo en ganado, en plata y en oro.

And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

3 Y volvió por sus jornadas desde el Négueb hacia Betel, hasta el lugar donde había estado antes su tienda entre Betel y Hai,

And he retraced his journeys from the side of the Negev even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai,

4 a l lugar del altar que había hecho allí antes; e invocó allí Abram el nombre de Jehová.

unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

5 A simismo, Lot, que andaba con Abram, tenía ovejas, vacas y tiendas.

¶ And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents.

6 Y la tierra no era suficiente para que habitasen juntos, pues sus posesiones eran muchas, y no podían morar en un mismo lugar.

And the land was not able to bear them that they might dwell together, for their substance was so great that they could not dwell together.

7 Y hubo contienda entre los pastores del ganado de Abram y los pastores del ganado de Lot; y el cananeo y el ferezeo habitaban entonces en la tierra.

And there was a strife between the pastors of Abram’s cattle and the pastors of Lot’s cattle; and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land.

8 E ntonces Abram dijo a Lot: No haya ahora altercado entre nosotros dos, entre mis pastores y los tuyos, porque somos hermanos.

Then Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee and between my pastors and thine, for we are brethren.

9 ¿ No está toda la tierra delante de ti? Yo te ruego que te apartes de mí. Si te vas a la mano izquierda, yo iré a la derecha; y si tú a la derecha, yo iré a la izquierda.

Is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me; if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

10 Y alzó Lot sus ojos, y vio toda la llanura del Jordán, que toda ella era de riego, como el huerto de Jehová, como la tierra de Egipto en la dirección de Zoar, antes que destruyese Jehová a Sodoma y a Gomorra.

¶ And Lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the plain of the Jordan that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as a garden of the LORD like the land of Egypt as thou comest unto Zoar.

11 E ntonces Lot escogió para sí toda la llanura del Jordán; y se fue Lot hacia el oriente, y se apartaron el uno del otro.

Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed east; and they separated themselves the one from the other.

12 A bram acampó en la tierra de Canaán, en tanto que Lot habitó en las ciudades de la llanura, y fue poniendo sus tiendas hasta Sodoma.

Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tents toward Sodom.

13 M as los hombres de Sodoma eran malos y pecadores contra Jehová en gran manera.

But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

14 Y Jehová dijo a Abram, después que Lot se apartó de él: Alza ahora tus ojos, y mira desde el lugar donde estás hacia el norte y el sur, y al oriente y al occidente.

¶ And the LORD said unto Abram, after Lot separated himself from him, Lift up now thine eyes and look from the place where thou art towards the Aquilon and to the Negev and to the east and to the west;

15 P orque toda la tierra que ves, la daré a ti y a tu descendencia para siempre.

for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it and to thy seed for ever.

16 Y haré tu descendencia como el polvo de la tierra; que si alguno puede contar el polvo de la tierra, también tu descendencia será contada.

And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth, so that if someone could number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

17 L evántate, ve por la tierra a lo largo de ella y a su ancho; porque a ti la daré.

Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it, for I must give it unto thee.

18 A bram, pues, removiendo su tienda, vino y moró en el encinar de Mamré, que está en Hebrón, y edificó allí altar a Jehová.

Then Abram removed his tent and came and dwelt among the terebinth trees of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
