1 P orque Jehová tendrá compasión de Jacob, y todavía escogerá a Israel, y le hará establecerse en su tierra; y a ellos se unirán extranjeros, y se juntarán a la familia de Jacob.

¶ For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob and will yet choose Israel and cause them to rest in their own land; and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.

2 Y los tomarán los pueblos, y los traerán a su lugar; y la casa de Israel los poseerá por siervos y criadas en la tierra de Jehová; cautivarán a los que los cautivaron, y dominarán sobre los que los oprimieron.

And the peoples shall take them and bring them to their place; and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for slaves and hand maids; and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

3 E n el día en que Jehová te dé reposo de tus trabajos, de tu desazón, y de la dura servidumbre en que te hicieron servir,

And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow and from thy fear and from the hard bondage in which thou wast made to serve,

4 p ronunciarás esta sátira contra el rey de Babilonia, y dirás: ¡Cómo terminó el opresor! ¡Cómo acabó la ciudad insolente!

¶ that thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon and say, How has the oppressor ceased! The city that covets gold has ceased!

5 Q uebrantó Jehová el bastón de los impíos, el cetro de los déspotas;

The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked and the sceptre of the rulers

6 e l que hería a los pueblos con furor, con llagas permanentes, el que se enseñoreaba de las naciones con ira, con acoso sin tregua.

who smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the Gentiles in anger and who did not defend the persecuted.

7 T oda la tierra está en reposo y en paz; prorrumpe en aclamaciones.

The whole earth is at rest and is quiet; they sing praises.

8 A un los cipreses se regocijaron a causa de ti, y los cedros del Líbano, diciendo: Desde que tú pereciste, no ha subido cortador contra nosotros.

Even the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

9 E l Seol abajo se estremeció por ti; despertó muertos que en tu venida saliesen a recibirte, hizo levantar de sus tronos a todos los príncipes de la tierra, a todos los reyes de las naciones.

Sheol from beneath is aghast at thee; it stirs up the dead to meet thee at thy coming; it has raised up from their thrones all the princes of the earth, all the kings of the Gentiles.

10 T odos ellos dan voces, y te dicen: ¿Tú también te debilitaste como nosotros, y llegaste a ser como nosotros?

They all shall shout and say unto thee, Art thou also become sick as we? Art thou become like unto us?

11 D escendió al Seol tu pompa, y el sonido de tus arpas; gusanos serán tu cama, y gusanos te cubrirán.

Thy pride is brought down to Sheol, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

12 ¡ Cómo caíste del cielo, oh Lucero, hijo del Alba! Cortado fuiste por tierra, tú que abatías a las naciones.

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, who didst claim the Gentiles as an inheritance!

13 T ú que decías en tu corazón: Subiré al cielo; por encima de las estrellas de Dios, levantaré mi trono, y en el monte de la Reunión me sentaré, en el extremo norte;

Thou who said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven; upon high next to the stars of God I will exalt my throne: and I will sit upon the mount of the testimony and in the sides of the north;

14 s obre las alturas de las nubes subiré, y seré semejante al Altísimo.

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15 M as tú has sido derribado hasta el Seol, a lo profundo del abismo.

Yet thou shalt be cast down to Sheol, to the sides of the pit.

16 S e inclinan hacia ti los que te ven, te contemplan, diciendo: ¿Es éste aquel varón que hacía temblar la tierra, que sacudía los reinos;

Those that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble; that shook the kingdoms;

17 q ue puso el mundo como un desierto, que asoló sus ciudades, que a sus presos nunca abrió la cárcel?

that made the world as a wilderness and destroyed the cities thereof; that did not open the prison to his prisoners?

18 T odos los reyes de las naciones yacen con honor cada uno en su morada;

All the kings of the Gentiles, even all of them, lie in glory, each one in his own house.

19 p ero tú eres echado de tu sepulcro como un brote abominable, recubierto de muertos pasados a espada, que descendieron al fondo de la fosa; como cadáver pisoteado.

But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that went down to the bottom of the pit, as a carcase trodden under feet.

20 N o serás contado con ellos en el sepelio; porque tú destruiste tu tierra, mataste a tu pueblo. No será nombrada para siempre la descendencia de los malignos.

Thou shalt not be numbered with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land and slain thy people; the seed of evildoers shall not be forever.

21 P reparad para sus hijos el matadero, por la maldad de sus padres; que no se levanten, ni posean la tierra, ni llenen de ciudades la faz del mundo.

Prepare slaughter for his sons for the iniquity of their fathers that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

22 Y o me levantaré contra ellos, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, y raeré de Babilonia el nombre y el remanente, hijos y nietos, dice Jehová.

For I will rise up upon them, saith the LORD of the hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name and remnant and son and nephew, saith the LORD.

23 Y la convertiré en patrimonio de erizos, y en pantanos; y la barreré con la escoba de destrucción, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Asiria será destruida

I will also make it a possession for the bittern and pools of water, and I will sweep it with brooms of destruction, saith the LORD of the hosts.

24 J ehová de los ejércitos juró diciendo: Ciertamente se hará de la manera que lo he pensado, y será confirmado como lo he determinado;

¶ The LORD of the hosts has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:

25 q ue quebrantaré al asirio en mi tierra, y en mis montes lo hollaré; y su yugo será apartado de ellos, y su carga será quitada de sus hombros.

That I will break the Assyrian in my land and upon my mountains tread him under foot; then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

26 É ste es el designio que está acordado sobre toda la tierra, y ésta, la mano extendida sobre todas las naciones.

This is the counsel that is purposed upon the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the Gentiles.

27 P orque Jehová de los ejércitos lo ha determinado, y ¿quién lo impedirá? Y su mano extendida, ¿quién la hará retroceder? Profecía sobre Filistea

For the LORD of the hosts has purposed, and who shall disannul it? His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

28 E n el año en que murió el rey Acaz fue esta profecía:

In the year that King Ahaz died was this burden.

29 N o te alegres, oh Filistea, toda tú, por haberse quebrado la vara del que te hería; porque de la raíz de la culebra saldrá víbora; y su fruto, dragón volador.

Rejoice not thou, whole Philistia, because thou didst break the rod of him that smote thee: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

30 Y los más pobres de los pobres serán apacentados, y los menesterosos se acostarán confiados; mas yo haré morir de hambre tu raíz, y destruiré lo que de ti quede.

And the firstborn of the poor shall be fed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will cause thy root to die of famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.

31 A úlla, oh puerta; grita, oh ciudad; derrítete toda tú, Filistea; porque vendrá una humareda del norte, y no desertará de sus tropas ni uno solo.

Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Philistia, art dissolved; for there shall come from the north a smoke, and not one shall be left in thy assemblies.

32 ¿ Y qué se responderá a los mensajeros de las naciones? Que Jehová fundó a Sión, y que a ella se acogerán los afligidos de su pueblo.

What shall one then answer the messengers of the Gentiles? That the LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people shall have confidence.
