1 Q uem insiste no erro depois de muita repreensão, será destruído, sem aviso e irremediavelmente.

¶ He that being often reproved hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy.

2 Q uando os justos florescem, o povo se alegra; quando os ímpios governam, o povo geme.

¶ When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn.

3 O homem que ama a sabedoria dá alegria a seu pai, mas quem anda com prostitutas dá fim à sua fortuna.

¶ Whosoever loves wisdom causes his father to rejoice, but he that maintains harlots shall lose his inheritance.

4 O rei que exerce a justiça dá estabilidade ao país, mas o que gosta de subornos o leva à ruína.

¶ The king by judgment establishes the land, but he that receives gifts shall overthrow it.

5 Q uem adula seu próximo está armando uma rede para os pés dele.

¶ The man that flatters his neighbour spreads a net for his feet.

6 O pecado do homem mau o apanha na sua própria armadilha, mas o justo pode cantar e alegrar-se.

¶ In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare, but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.

7 O s justos levam em conta os direitos dos pobres, mas os ímpios nem se importam com isso.

¶ The righteous considers the cause of the poor, but the wicked does not understand wisdom.

8 O s zombadores agitam a cidade, mas os sábios a apaziguam.

¶ Scornful men bring a city into a snare, but wise men turn away wrath.

9 S e o sábio for ao tribunal contra o insensato, não haverá paz, pois o insensato se enfurecerá e zombará.

¶ If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether he rages or laughs, there is no rest.

10 O s violentos odeiam os honestos e procuram matar o homem íntegro.

¶ The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the just seek his soul.

11 O tolo dá vazão à sua ira, mas o sábio domina-se.

¶ The fool gives full rein to his spirit, but the wise man in the end will bring it into rest.

12 P ara o governante que dá ouvidos a mentiras, todos os seus oficiais são ímpios.

¶ Of the ruler who hearkens unto the lying word, all his ministers are evil.

13 O pobre e o opressor têm algo em comum: o Senhor dá vista a ambos.

¶ The poor and the usurer meet together; the LORD lightens both their eyes.

14 S e o rei julga os pobres com justiça, seu trono estará sempre seguro.

¶ The king that judges the poor with truth, his throne shall be established for ever.

15 A vara da correção dá sabedoria, mas a criança entregue a si mesma envergonha a sua mãe.

¶ The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself shall bring his mother to shame.

16 Q uando os ímpios prosperam, prospera o pecado, mas os justos verão a queda deles.

¶ When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases, but the righteous shall see their fall.

17 D iscipline seu filho, e este lhe dará paz; trará grande prazer à sua alma.

¶ Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; he shall give delight unto thy soul.

18 O nde não há revelação divina, o povo se desvia; mas como é feliz quem obedece à lei!

¶ Without prophetic vision, the people shall perish, but he that keeps the law is blessed.

19 M eras palavras não bastam para corrigir o escravo; mesmo que entenda, não reagirá bem.

¶ A slave will not be corrected by words, for though he understands he will not obey.

20 V ocê já viu alguém que se precipita no falar? Há mais esperança para o insensato do que para ele.

¶ Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

21 S e alguém mima seu escravo desde jovem, no fim terá tristezas.

¶ He that gives freely unto his slave from a child shall have him become his son in the end.

22 O homem irado provoca brigas, e o de gênio violento comete muitos pecados.

¶ The angry man stirs up strife, and the furious man abounds in transgression.

23 O orgulho do homem o humilha, mas o de espírito humilde obtém honra.

¶ A man’s pride shall bring him low, but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

24 O cúmplice do ladrão odeia a si mesmo; posto sob juramento, não ousa testemunhar.

¶ Whosoever is partner with a thief hates his own soul; he hears cursing, and does not disclose it.

25 Q uem teme o homem cai em armadilhas, mas quem confia no Senhor está seguro.

¶ The fear of man brings a snare, but whosoever puts his trust in the LORD shall be lifted up.

26 M uitos desejam os favores do governante, mas é do Senhor que procede a justiça.

¶ Many seek the ruler’s favour, but each man’s judgment comes from the LORD.

27 O s justos detestam os desonestos, já os ímpios detestam os íntegros.

¶ An unjust man is an abomination to the just, and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
