1 E L hombre que reprendido endurece la cerviz, De repente será quebrantado; ni habrá para él medicina.

¶ He that being often reproved hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy.

2 C uando los justos dominan, el pueblo se alegra: Mas cuando domina el impío, el pueblo gime.

¶ When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn.

3 E l hombre que ama la sabiduría, alegra á su padre: Mas el que mantiene rameras, perderá la hacienda.

¶ Whosoever loves wisdom causes his father to rejoice, but he that maintains harlots shall lose his inheritance.

4 E l rey con el juicio afirma la tierra: Mas el hombre de presentes la destruirá.

¶ The king by judgment establishes the land, but he that receives gifts shall overthrow it.

5 E l hombre que lisonjea á su prójimo, Red tiende delante de sus pasos.

¶ The man that flatters his neighbour spreads a net for his feet.

6 E n la prevaricación del hombre malo hay lazo: Mas el justo cantará y se alegrará.

¶ In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare, but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.

7 C onoce el justo la causa de los pobres: Mas el impío no entiende sabiduría.

¶ The righteous considers the cause of the poor, but the wicked does not understand wisdom.

8 L os hombres escarnecedores enlazan la ciudad: Mas los sabios apartan la ira.

¶ Scornful men bring a city into a snare, but wise men turn away wrath.

9 S i el hombre sabio contendiere con el necio, Que se enoje ó que se ría, no tendrá reposo.

¶ If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether he rages or laughs, there is no rest.

10 L os hombres sanguinarios aborrecen al perfecto: Mas los rectos buscan su contentamiento.

¶ The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the just seek his soul.

11 E l necio da suelta á todo su espíritu; Mas el sabio al fin le sosiega.

¶ The fool gives full rein to his spirit, but the wise man in the end will bring it into rest.

12 D el señor que escucha la palabra mentirosa, Todos sus ministros son impíos.

¶ Of the ruler who hearkens unto the lying word, all his ministers are evil.

13 E l pobre y el usurero se encontraron: Jehová alumbra los ojos de ambos.

¶ The poor and the usurer meet together; the LORD lightens both their eyes.

14 E l rey que juzga con verdad á los pobres, Su trono será firme para siempre.

¶ The king that judges the poor with truth, his throne shall be established for ever.

15 L a vara y la corrección dan sabiduría: Mas el muchacho consentido avergonzará á su madre.

¶ The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself shall bring his mother to shame.

16 C uando los impíos son muchos, mucha es la prevaricación; Mas los justos verán la ruina de ellos.

¶ When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases, but the righteous shall see their fall.

17 C orrige á tu hijo, y te dará descanso, Y dará deleite á tu alma.

¶ Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; he shall give delight unto thy soul.

18 S in profecía el pueblo será disipado: Mas el que guarda la ley, bienaventurado él.

¶ Without prophetic vision, the people shall perish, but he that keeps the law is blessed.

19 E l siervo no se corregirá con palabras: Porque entiende, mas no corresponde.

¶ A slave will not be corrected by words, for though he understands he will not obey.

20 ¿ Has visto hombre ligero en sus palabras? Más esperanza hay del necio que de él.

¶ Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

21 E l que regala á su siervo desde su niñez, A la postre será su hijo:

¶ He that gives freely unto his slave from a child shall have him become his son in the end.

22 E l hombre iracundo levanta contiendas; Y el furioso muchas veces peca.

¶ The angry man stirs up strife, and the furious man abounds in transgression.

23 L a soberbia del hombre le abate; Pero al humilde de espíritu sustenta la honra.

¶ A man’s pride shall bring him low, but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

24 E l aparcero del ladrón aborrece su vida; Oirá maldiciones, y no lo denunciará.

¶ Whosoever is partner with a thief hates his own soul; he hears cursing, and does not disclose it.

25 E l temor del hombre pondrá lazo: Mas el que confía en Jehová será levantado.

¶ The fear of man brings a snare, but whosoever puts his trust in the LORD shall be lifted up.

26 M uchos buscan el favor del príncipe: Mas de Jehová viene el juicio de cada uno.

¶ Many seek the ruler’s favour, but each man’s judgment comes from the LORD.

27 A bominación es á los justos el hombre inicuo; Y abominación es al impío el de rectos caminos.

¶ An unjust man is an abomination to the just, and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
