1 S ED, pues, imitadores de Dios como hijos amados:

¶ Be ye therefore imitators of God, as dear children

2 Y andad en amor, como también Cristo nos amó, y se entregó á sí mismo por nosotros, ofrenda y sacrificio á Dios en olor suave.

and walk in charity even as the Christ also has loved us and has given himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

3 P ero fornicación y toda inmundicia, ó avaricia, ni aun se nombre entre vosotros, como conviene á santos;

¶ But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you as becomes saints,

4 N i palabras torpes, ni necedades, ni truhanerías, que no convienen; sino antes bien acciones de gracias.

neither dishonest words nor foolishness nor low jesting, which are not convenient, but rather giving of thanks.

5 P orque sabéis esto, que ningún fornicario, ó inmundo, ó avaro, que es servidor de ídolos, tiene herencia en el reino de Cristo y de Dios.

For this ye know, that no fornicator nor unclean person nor covetous man, who is also an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 N adie os engañe con palabras vanas; porque por estas cosas viene la ira de Dios sobre los hijos de desobediencia.

Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

7 N o seáis pues aparceros con ellos;

Be not ye, therefore, partakers with them.

8 P orque en otro tiempo erais tinieblas; mas ahora sois luz en el Señor: andad como hijos de luz,

For in another time ye were darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord: walk as children of light;

9 ( Porque el fruto del Espíritu es en toda bondad, y justicia, y verdad;)

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

10 A probando lo que es agradable al Señor.

approving what is well pleasing unto the Lord.

11 Y no comuniquéis con las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas; sino antes bien redargüidlas.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 P orque torpe cosa es aun hablar de lo que ellos hacen en oculto.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which they do in secret.

13 M as todas las cosas cuando son redargüidas, son manifestadas por la luz; porque lo que manifiesta todo, la luz es.

But all these things when they are reproved by the light are made manifest, for the light is that which manifests everything.

14 P or lo cual dice: Despiértate, tú que duermes, y levántate de los muertos, y te alumbrará Cristo.

Therefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest and arise from the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.

15 M irad, pues, cómo andéis avisadamente; no como necios, mas como sabios;

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 R edimiendo el tiempo, porque los días son malos.

redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 P or tanto, no seáis imprudentes, sino entendidos de cuál sea la voluntad del Señor.

Therefore, be ye not unwise, but understanding of what the will of the Lord is.

18 Y no os embriaguéis de vino, en lo cual hay disolución; mas sed llenos de Espíritu;

And be not drunk with wine, in which there is excess, but be filled with the Spirit,

19 H ablando entre vosotros con salmos, y con himnos, y canciones espirituales, cantando y alabando al Señor en vuestros corazones;

speaking among yourselves with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and praising the Lord in your hearts,

20 D ando gracias siempre de todo al Dios y Padre en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo:

giving thanks always for all things unto the God and Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

21 S ujetados los unos á los otros en el temor de Dios.

¶ submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 L as casadas estén sujetas á sus propios maridos, como al Señor.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husband, as unto the Lord.

23 P orque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia; y él es el que da la salud al cuerpo.

For the husband is the head of the wife even as the Christ is head of the congregation, and it is he who gives saving health to the body.

24 A sí que, como la iglesia está sujeta á Cristo, así también las casadas lo estén á sus maridos en todo.

Therefore, as the congregation is subject unto the Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25 M aridos, amad á vuestras mujeres, así como Cristo amó á la iglesia, y se entregó á sí mismo por ella,

Husbands, love your wives even as the Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself for her,

26 P ara santificarla limpiándola en el lavacro del agua por la palabra,

that he might sanctify and cleanse her in the washing of water by the word,

27 P ara presentársela gloriosa para sí, una iglesia que no tuviese mancha ni arruga, ni cosa semejante; sino que fuese santa y sin mancha.

that he might present her glorious for himself, a congregation, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

28 A sí también los maridos deben amar á sus mujeres como á sus mismos cuerpos. El que ama á su mujer, á sí mismo se ama.

So ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.

29 P orque ninguno aborreció jamás á su propia carne, antes la sustenta y regala, como también Cristo á la iglesia;

For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it even as the Lord with his congregation:

30 P orque somos miembros de su cuerpo, de su carne y de sus huesos.

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 P or esto dejará el hombre á su padre y á su madre, y se allegará á su mujer, y serán dos en una carne.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall be joined unto his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.

32 E ste misterio grande es: mas yo digo esto con respecto á Cristo y á la iglesia.

This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the congregation.

33 C ada uno empero de vosotros de por sí, ame también á su mujer como á sí mismo; y la mujer reverencie á su marido.

Nevertheless, let each one of you do likewise, let each one so love his wife even as himself, and let the wife see that she reverences her husband.
