1 A s palavras de Jeremias, filho de Hilquias, um dos sacerdotes de Anatote, no território de Benjamim.

¶ The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

2 A palavra do Senhor veio a ele no décimo terceiro ano do reinado de Josias, filho de Amom, rei de Judá,

To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

3 e durante o reinado de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, até o quinto mês do décimo primeiro ano de Zedequias, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, quando os habitantes de Jerusalém foram levados para o exílio. O Chamado de Jeremias

It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

4 A palavra do Senhor veio a mim, dizendo:

¶ Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

5 “ Antes de formá-lo no ventre eu o escolhi; antes de você nascer, eu o separei e o designei profeta às nações”.

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the Gentiles.

6 M as eu disse: Ah, Soberano Senhor! Eu não sei falar, pois ainda sou muito jovem.

Then I said, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I do not know how to speak: for I am a child.

7 O Senhor, porém, me disse: “Não diga que é muito jovem. A todos a quem eu o enviar, você irá e dirá tudo o que eu lhe ordenar.

But the LORD said unto me, Do not say, I am a child; for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

8 N ão tenha medo deles, pois eu estou com você para protegê-lo”, diz o Senhor.

Do not be afraid of their faces; for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

9 O Senhor estendeu a mão, tocou a minha boca e disse-me: “Agora ponho em sua boca as minhas palavras.

Then the LORD put forth his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

10 V eja! Eu hoje dou a você autoridade sobre nações e reinos, para arrancar, despedaçar, arruinar e destruir; para edificar e plantar”.

See, I have placed thee in this day over Gentiles and over kingdoms, to root out, and to destroy, and to throw out, and to cast down, to build, and to plant.

11 E a palavra do Senhor veio a mim: “O que você vê, Jeremias?” Vejo o ramo de uma amendoeira, respondi.

¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

12 O Senhor me disse: “Você viu bem, pois estou vigiando para que a minha palavra se cumpra”.

Then the LORD said unto me, Thou hast seen well, for I will hasten my word to perform it.

13 A palavra do Senhor veio a mim pela segunda vez, dizendo: “O que você vê?” E eu respondi: Vejo uma panela fervendo; ela está inclinada do norte para cá.

And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and its face is toward the north.

14 O Senhor me disse: “Do norte se derramará a desgraça sobre todos os habitantes desta terra.

Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

15 E stou convocando todos os povos dos reinos do norte”, diz o Senhor. “Cada um virá e colocará o seu trono diante das portas de Jerusalém, virão contra todas as muralhas que a cercam e contra todas as cidades de Judá.

For, behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and each one shall set his seat at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem and near all its walls round about and near all the cities of Judah.

16 P ronunciarei a minha sentença contra o meu povo por todas as suas maldades; porque me abandonaram, queimaram incenso a outros deuses, e adoraram deuses que as suas mãos fizeram.

And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me and have burned incense unto other gods and worshipped the works of their own hands.

17 “ E você, prepare-se! Vá dizer-lhes tudo o que eu ordenar. Não fique aterrorizado por causa deles, senão eu o aterrorizarei diante deles.

Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and thou shalt arise and speak unto them all that I shall command thee; do not fear them lest I confound thee before them.

18 E hoje eu faço de você uma cidade fortificada, uma coluna de ferro e um muro de bronze, contra toda a terra: contra os reis de Judá, seus oficiais, seus sacerdotes e o povo da terra.

For, behold, I have made thee this day as a defenced city and as an iron pillar and as a wall of brass upon all the earth against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land.

19 E les lutarão contra você, mas não o vencerão, pois eu estou com você e o protegerei”, diz o Senhor.

And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.
