1 Ó Senhor, Deus vingador; Deus vingador! Intervém!

¶ O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs; O God, to whom vengeance belongs, show thyself.

2 L evanta-te, Juiz da terra; retribui aos orgulhosos o que merecem.

Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.

3 A té quando os ímpios, Senhor, até quando os ímpios exultarão?

LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

4 E les despejam palavras arrogantes; todos esses malfeitores enchem-se de vanglória.

How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

5 M assacram o teu povo, Senhor, e oprimem a tua herança;

They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thy heritage.

6 m atam as viúvas e os estrangeiros, assassinam os órfãos,

They slay the widow and the stranger and murder the fatherless.

7 e ainda dizem: “O Senhor não nos vê; o Deus de Jacó nada percebe”.

Yet they say, JAH shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

8 I nsensatos, procurem entender! E vocês, tolos, quando se tornarão sábios?

Understand, ye carnal ones among the people, and, ye fools, when will ye be wise?

9 S erá que quem fez o ouvido não ouve? Será que quem formou o olho não vê?

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

10 A quele que disciplina as nações os deixará sem castigo? Não tem sabedoria aquele que dá ao homem o conhecimento?

He that chastens the Gentiles, shall he not correct? he that teaches man knowledge, shall not he know?

11 O Senhor conhece os pensamentos do homem, e sabe como são fúteis.

The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

12 C omo é feliz o homem a quem disciplinas, Senhor, aquele a quem ensinas a tua lei;

¶ Blessed is the man whom thou dost chasten, O JAH, and teach him out of thy law,

13 t ranqüilo, enfrentará os dias maus, enquanto que, para os ímpios, uma cova se abrirá.

to cause him to rest in the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked.

14 O Senhor não desamparará o seu povo; jamais abandonará a sua herança.

For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

15 V oltará a haver justiça nos julgamentos, e todos os retos de coração a seguirão.

But the judgment shall be returned unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

16 Q uem se levantará a meu favor contra os ímpios? Quem ficará a meu lado contra os malfeitores?

Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

17 N ão fosse a ajuda do Senhor, eu já estaria habitando no silêncio.

Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul would have quickly dwelt with the dead.

18 Q uando eu disse: Os meus pés escorregaram, o teu amor leal, Senhor, me amparou!

When I said, My foot slips, thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

19 Q uando a ansiedade já me dominava no íntimo, o teu consolo trouxe alívio à minha alma.

In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul.

20 P oderá um trono corrupto estar em aliança contigo?, um trono que faz injustiças em nome da lei?

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, who creates toil under the guise of law?

21 E les planejam contra a vida dos justos e condenam os inocentes à morte.

They gather themselves together as an army against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent blood.

22 M as o Senhor é a minha torre segura; o meu Deus é a rocha em que encontro refúgio.

But the LORD is my refuge, and my God is the rock of my trust.

23 D eus fará cair sobre eles os seus crimes, e os destruirá por causa dos seus pecados; o Senhor, o nosso Deus, os destruirá!

And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
