1 V isão de Obadias. Assim diz o Soberano, o Senhor, a respeito de Edom: Nós ouvimos uma mensagem do Senhor. Um mensageiro foi enviado às nações para dizer: “Levantem-se! Vamos atacar Edom!”

¶ The vision of Obadiah. Thus hath the Lord GOD said concerning Edom: We have heard the message from the LORD, and a messenger is sent to the Gentiles, Arise, and let us rise up against her in battle.

2 “ Veja! Eu tornarei você pequeno entre as nações. Será completamente desprezado!

Behold, I have made thee small among the Gentiles: thou shalt be greatly humbled.

3 A arrogância do seu coração o tem enganado, você que vive nas cavidades das rochas e constrói sua morada no alto dos montes; você que diz a si mesmo: ‘Quem pode me derrubar?’

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

4 A inda que você suba tão alto como a águia e faça o seu ninho entre as estrelas, dali eu o derrubarei”, declara o Senhor.

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle and though thou set thy nest among the stars, from there I will bring thee down, said the LORD.

5 “ Se ladrões o atacassem, saqueadores no meio da noite — como você está destruído! — não roubariam apenas quanto achassem suficiente? Se os que colhem uvas chegassem a você, não deixariam para trás pelo menos alguns cachos?

Did thieves come to thee, or robbers by night? (how art thou destroyed!) would they not have stolen until they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

6 E ntretanto, como Esaú foi saqueado! Como foram pilhados os seus tesouros ocultos!

How were the things of Esau searched out! His hidden things were sought after!

7 E mpurram você para as fronteiras todos os seus aliados; enganam você e o sobrepujarão os seus melhores amigos; aqueles que comem com você lhe armam ciladas”. E Esaú não percebe nada!

All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border; the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee and prevailed against thee; those that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee; there is no intelligence in this.

8 “ Naquele dia”, declara o Senhor, “destruirei os sábios de Edom, e os mestres dos montes de Esaú.

Shall I not in that day, said the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom and intelligence out of the mount of Esau?

9 E ntão os seus guerreiros, ó Temã, ficarão apavorados, e serão eliminados todos os homens dos montes de Esaú.

And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed because every man shall be cut off from mount of Esau by the slaughter.

10 P or causa da violenta matança que você fez contra o seu irmão Jacó, você será coberto de vergonha e eliminado para sempre.

¶ For thy violence against thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

11 N o dia em que você ficou por perto, quando estrangeiros roubaram os bens dele, e estranhos entraram por suas portas e lançaram sortes sobre Jerusalém, você fez exatamente como eles.

In the day that thou didst stand on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

12 V ocê não devia ter olhado com satisfação o dia da desgraça de seu irmão; nem ter se alegrado com a destruição do povo de Judá; não devia ter falado com arrogância no dia da sua aflição.

But thou should not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither should thou have rejoiced over the sons of Judah in the day they were lost; neither should thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

13 N ão devia ter entrado pelas portas do meu povo no dia da sua calamidade; nem devia ter ficado alegre com o sofrimento dele no dia da sua ruína; nem ter roubado a riqueza dele no dia da sua desgraça.

Thou should not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; thou should not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;

14 N ão devia ter esperado nas encruzilhadas, para matar os que conseguiram escapar; nem ter entregado os sobreviventes no dia da sua aflição.

neither should thou have stood in the crossway, to kill those of his that did escape; neither should thou have delivered up those of his that remained in the day of distress.

15 “ Pois o dia do Senhor está próximo para todas as nações. Como você fez, assim lhe será feito. A maldade que você praticou recairá sobre você.

For the day of the LORD is near upon all the Gentiles: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

16 A ssim como vocês beberam do meu castigo no meu santo monte, também todas as nações beberão sem parar. Beberão até o fim, e serão como se nunca tivessem existido.

For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the Gentiles drink continually; they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

17 M as no monte Sião estarão os que escaparam; ele será santo e a descendência de Jacó possuirá a sua herança.

¶ But in Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

18 A descendência de Jacó será um fogo, e a de José uma chama; a descendência de Esaú será a palha. Eles a incendiarão e a consumirão. Não haverá sobreviventes da descendência de Esaú”, declara o Senhor.

And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

19 O s do Neguebe se apossarão dos montes de Esaú, e os da Sefelá ocuparão a terra dos filisteus. Eles tomarão posse dos campos de Efraim e de Samaria, e Benjamim se apossará de Gileade.

And those of the south shall possess the mount of Esau and the plains of the Palestinians, and they shall also possess the fields of Ephraim and the fields of Samaria; and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

20 O s israelitas exilados se apossarão do território dos cananeus até Sarepta; os exilados de Jerusalém que estão em Sefarade ocuparão as cidades do Neguebe.

And the captives of this host of the sons of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who shall be in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

21 O s vencedores subirão ao monte Sião para governar a montanha de Esaú. E o reino será do Senhor.

And saviours shall come up unto Mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’s.
