¶ Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy and for thy truth.

2 P or que perguntam as nações: “Onde está o Deus deles?”

Why should the Gentiles say, Where is now their God?

3 O nosso Deus está nos céus, e pode fazer tudo o que lhe agrada.

But our God is in the heavens; he has made whatever he has desired.

4 O s ídolos deles, de prata e ouro, são feitos por mãos humanas.

Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

5 T êm boca, mas não podem falar, olhos, mas não podem ver;

They have mouths, but they shall never speak; they have eyes, but they shall never see:

6 t êm ouvidos, mas não podem ouvir, nariz, mas não podem sentir cheiro;

They have ears, but they shall never hear; they have noses, but they shall never smell;

7 t êm mãos, mas nada podem apalpar, pés, mas não podem andar; e não emitem som algum com a garganta.

they have hands, but they shall never touch; they have feet, but they shall never walk; they shall never speak through their throat.

8 T ornem-se como eles aqueles que os fazem e todos os que neles confiam.

Let those that make them become like unto them, and every one that trusts in them.

9 C onfie no Senhor, ó Israel! Ele é o seu socorro e o seu escudo.

¶ O Israel, trust thou in the LORD; he is your help and your shield.

10 C onfiem no Senhor, sacerdotes! Ele é o seu socorro e o seu escudo.

O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD; he is your help and your shield.

11 V ocês que temem o Senhor, confiem no Senhor! Ele é o seu socorro e o seu escudo.

Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; he is your help and your shield.

12 O Senhor lembra-se de nós e nos abençoará; abençoará os israelitas, abençoará os sacerdotes,

The LORD has been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will greatly bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.

13 a bençoará os que temem o Senhor, do menor ao maior.

He will bless those that fear the LORD, both small and great.

14 Q ue o Senhor os multiplique, vocês e os seus filhos.

The LORD shall increase his blessing upon you more and more, upon you and your sons.

15 S ejam vocês abençoados pelo Senhor, que fez os céus e a terra.

Ye are blessed of the LORD who made the heavens and earth.

16 O s mais altos céus pertencem ao Senhor, mas a terra ele a confiou ao homem.

The heavens are the heavens of the LORD, but the earth he has given to the sons of Adam.

17 O s mortos não louvam o Senhor, tampouco nenhum dos que descem ao silêncio.

The dead shall not praise JAH, neither any that go down into silence.

18 M as nós bendiremos o Senhor, desde agora e para sempre! Aleluia!
