1 E disse o Senhor a Moisés:

¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

2 “ Consagre a mim todos os primogênitos. O primeiro filho israelita me pertence, não somente entre os homens, mas também entre os animais”.

Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the sons of Israel, both of man and of beast; for it is mine.

3 E ntão disse Moisés ao povo: “Comemorem esse dia em que vocês saíram do Egito, da terra da escravidão, porque o Senhor os tirou dali com mão poderosa. Não comam nada fermentado.

And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery; for the LORD has brought you out of here with a strong hand; therefore, ye shall not eat with leaven.

4 N este dia do mês de abibe vocês estão saindo.

This day ye came out in the month Abib.

5 Q uando o Senhor os fizer entrar na terra dos cananeus, dos hititas, dos amorreus, dos heveus e dos jebuseus — terra que ele jurou aos seus antepassados que daria a vocês, terra onde manam leite e mel — vocês deverão celebrar esta cerimônia neste mesmo mês.

And when the LORD shall have brought thee into the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, which he swore unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt do this service in this month.

6 D urante sete dias comam pão sem fermento e, no sétimo dia, façam uma festa dedicada ao Senhor.

Thou shalt eat without leaven for seven days, and the seventh day shall be a feast unto the LORD.

7 C omam pão sem fermento durante os sete dias; não haja nada fermentado entre vocês, nem fermento algum dentro do seu território.

Bread without leaven shall be eaten the seven days; and nothing leavened shall be seen with thee, neither shall there be any leaven in all thy borders.

8 “ Nesse dia cada um dirá a seu filho: Assim faço pelo que o Senhor fez por mim quando saí do Egito.

And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when he brought me out of Egypt.

9 I sto lhe será como sinal em sua mão e memorial em sua testa, para que a lei do Senhor esteja em seus lábios, porque o Senhor o tirou do Egito com mão poderosa.

And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thy hand and for a memorial before thine eyes, that the LORD’s law may be in thy mouth; for with a strong hand the LORD has brought thee out of Egypt.

10 C umpra esta determinação na época certa, de ano em ano.

Thou shalt, therefore, keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.

11 “ Depois que o Senhor os fizer entrar na terra dos cananeus e entregá-la a vocês, como jurou a vocês e aos seus antepassados,

¶ And it shall be when the LORD shall have brought thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall have given it to thee,

12 s eparem para o Senhor o primeiro nascido de todo ventre. Todos os primeiros machos dos seus rebanhos pertencem ao Senhor.

that thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that opens the womb and in the same manner every firstborn that opens the wombs of thy animals; the males shall be the LORD’s.

13 R esgatem com um cordeiro toda primeira cria dos jumentos, mas se não quiserem resgatá-la, quebrem-lhe o pescoço. Resgatem também todo primogênito entre os seus filhos.

And every firstborn of an ass thou shalt ransom with a lamb; and if thou wilt not ransom it, then thou shalt cut off its head; and in the same manner thou shalt ransom all the human firstborn among thy sons.

14 “ No futuro, quando os seus filhos lhes perguntarem: ‘Que significa isto?’, digam-lhes: Com mão poderosa o Senhor nos tirou do Egito, da terra da escravidão.

And it shall be when thy son asks thee in time to come, saying, What is this? Thou shalt say unto him, With a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery;

15 Q uando o faraó resistiu e recusou deixar-nos sair, o Senhor matou todos os primogênitos do Egito, tanto os de homens como os de animais. Por isso sacrificamos ao Senhor os primeiros machos de todo ventre e resgatamos os nossos primogênitos.

and it came to pass when Pharaoh was hardening himself to not let us go that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt from the human firstborn to the firstborn of the beast; therefore, I sacrifice to the LORD every male that opens the womb, and I ransom every firstborn of my sons.

16 “ Isto será como sinal em sua mão e símbolo em sua testa de que o Senhor nos tirou do Egito com mão poderosa”. A Partida dos Israelitas

And it shall be for a token upon thy hand, and for a memorial before thine eyes: That the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand.

17 Q uando o faraó deixou sair o povo, Deus não o guiou pela rota da terra dos filisteus, embora este fosse o caminho mais curto, pois disse: “Se eles se defrontarem com a guerra, talvez se arrependam e voltem para o Egito”.

¶ And it came to pass when Pharaoh had let the people go that God did not lead them through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt;

18 A ssim, Deus fez o povo dar a volta pelo deserto, seguindo o caminho que leva ao mar Vermelho. Os israelitas saíram do Egito preparados para lutar.

but God led the people round about through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea. And the sons of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.

19 M oisés levou os ossos de José, porque José havia feito os filhos de Israel prestarem um juramento, quando disse: “Deus certamente virá em auxílio de vocês; levem então os meus ossos daqui”.

And Moses also took the bones of Joseph with him, who had made the sons of Israel swear, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away from here with you.

20 O s israelitas partiram de Sucote e acamparam em Etã, junto ao deserto.

And they took their journey from Succoth and encamped in Etham in the edge of the wilderness.

21 D urante o dia o Senhor ia adiante deles, numa coluna de nuvem, para guiá-los no caminho, e de noite, numa coluna de fogo, para iluminá-los, e assim podiam caminhar de dia e de noite.

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them in the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light that they might walk by day and by night.

22 A coluna de nuvem não se afastava do povo de dia, nem a coluna de fogo, de noite.

He never took away the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night from before the people.
